Time to take out the trash.
So what is the deal with those new missions, am I right?
Oh, wait, it's my job to tell you what the deal is with those missions now. The deal is that your characters can choose to be transported to either Zompania or Pagoda to help in the relief effort. The simultaneous missions will begin on July 20th and last through July 24th. Choose your own adventure below...!
Zompania...
Even without the threat of death looming over everyone's heads like a guillotine, the city of Zompania is every shade as bleak as those who fought here likely remember. The streets are littered with a detritus of abandoned weapons, Cultist corpses that have decayed beyond recognition or been partially eaten by wild animals, and the eerily pristine bones of the sacrificed. Nobody has set foot here in the weeks since the Cultists were ousted, until today.
Volunteers from Luceti will be transported to the site via one of the Commandant’s spaceships. En route, each will receive mandatory protective gear: think of it as a shift hazmat suit. With the barrier down, the environment is volatile, leaving the volunteers vulnerable to shifts that are not nearly so tolerable as the tamed ones that are bestowed on them by the Malnosso scientists. Lucky for the volunteers, this also protects from the worst of the smell that lingers over the ruined city.
The mission is straightfoward: bury the heaps of the dead, raze the city to the ground so there's nothing left for the Third Party to return to, and erect a war memorial to honor those sacrificed. The Luceti volunteers are left largely to direct themselves -- congratulations, the Commandant has scraped together enough faith in the Lucetians' competence that she doesn't feel it necessary to hand out step-by-step instructions like she's herding a gaggle of school children on a field trip.
Lodgings during this mission are limited to a cluster of tents perched in the surrounding field that is still more dirt than grass. The cots are narrow, the blankets scratchy, and the food rations bland but edible. Not that the mean state of the tents matters, because nobody will have time to kick back and relax while they're out here. Now get to work.
...or Pagoda.
Welcome to Pagoda, one of the enclosures pillaged by the Cultists for sacrificial lambs. The town at the center of the enclosure is quiet with lingering fear and the absence of those who will not be coming back. The ragged remains of the population - those who avoided the same fate as their friends and neighbors by hiding when the Third Party came - are trying to look forward.
Healing takes time. The Lucetian volunteers will have plenty to do in this war-scarred territory: repair and rebuild the town's infrastructure, replant the farms that stretch across the fields beyond town, and distribute food, water, and medical supplies to the survivors. The more emotionally in-tune among the volunteers might choose to play therapist to the rattled Pagodans. As the debris of the ravaged town is cleared away, mysterious items whose origins the residents are unsure of may surface: unreadable books, broken daggers, strange metal pins that appear to have fresh blood on them. These items will generally be collected by the MSF for disposal.
The barrier repair will be mostly handled by Malnosso technicians, guarded by MSF soldiers. Lucetians may be called on to help with non-shift-related work, such as guarding, fetch and carry, and monitoring some rather mysterious instruments. (“Just tell me if the needle ever gets to the red.”)
In this environment, accidents are dishearteningly common. Survivors need both old and new injuries tended. And during the days the Lucetians are there, a few of the survivors die. It could be an accident, a rogue shift let through by the still-malfunctioning barrier, or something more sinister...
At the end of each day, volunteers will be joining the Pagodan survivors in the shelters they have crudely constructed from the debris of their former homes. The amenities aren't much, but at least there are plenty of rations to go around - everyone will need their strength for the longs days of work ahead.
NOTES FOR BOTH LOCATIONS
The Commandant will be spending the bulk of her time on site in Pagoda, since that is considered to be the more actively dangerous site. There’s an open channel in Zompania that the volunteers can use if they have any important questions, however.
The MSF is there to protect the volunteers, not keep them from escaping. If someone does want to make a run for it, be aware that the Commandant’s ship is prepped and waiting at all times, and she will be around to collect any would-be fugitives personally. As the colloquial saying goes, "0/10, would not recommend."
As always, ask questions in the mod thread below, sign up if you dare, and happy plotting!

MOD QUESTIONS

1) Pagoda is in Region 8, which was in sort of a Wild West area and also bordering Depot 8, is the a possibility of seeing any of the the random Depot 8 NPCs (just like assumed and shit) -- and actually on that note, I am now wondering what the terrain within Pagoda's former enclosure area is like.
2) Are there any other enclosures/volunteers on the mission (either of them) other than the Luceti people? (Excenn, Deese, etc)? This post makes no mention of them so I'm assuming no, but I'm just checking here.
3) Are the MSF at both enclosures purely there for a protection/guard detail or would they be assisting with the tasks at hand on both of the missions? That is to say burning down Zompania and assist in rebuilding Pagoda?
4) Obviously the people of Pagoda are traumatized and injured and that's probably their defining traits, but is there any other general traits they have? Unique Mission 12 saw the Depot 8 people calling them "cityfolk" so I am assuming on the whole they're normals just like with say Excenn, but some other enclosures do have specific population types/moods to them so figured I should ask.
5) Could I ask if we can get any of those "things your characters might overhear from the NPCs" type things I feel like those always add flavor. If it's not possible that's cool too just asking.

MOD QUESTIONS - ZOMPANIA MISSION
1. Since a lot of the Zompania mission is about collecting/burying bodies, does this mean the bodies of Davis and his men that were sacrificed in the forest also went uncollected?
2. Are there any special instructions for how to handle/tear down the altars the Third Party used for sacrifices?
3. What materials do they have to construct the memorial with?
