Pets, pets! Everywhere!
Have you ever wanted to kick the dog? If so, please do not open the cut below.
On September 18th starting at 8:00 AM, some strange new animals will be appearing in Luceti. But perhaps not so strange to some people. In fact, these beasts are likely quite familiar to many of the denizens of Luceti. What are these creatures? Why, they're your pets! Characters with pets in their canon will finally receive them in Luceti. Whatever pet you would like needs to be added to the PET REGISTRY. Each character is limited to one pet.
After the animals appear, they'll stay in Luceti until their owner is sent home or the animal itself is applied for. If you are unsure if your pet qualifies, don't hesitate to ask!
Next, the friend add/remove for this application period:
Copy-paste it here for all your characters.
IF YOU ARE NEW AND YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME IS NOT ON HERE, YOU WILL NOT BE ADDED TO THE MASTER ADD LIST. Go comment to the friends add post if you don't see your name, otherwise you will not be added by new journals.
That's all, kids!

- These pets must exist in canon. You cannot make up an animal and claim that they were once owned by the character.
- These pets cannot be ones that regularly speak and are understood by their owners.
- Pets will behave exactly like regular Luceti animals do in regards to the journal system, as such, they cannot speak over the journal system.
- Animals cannot be overly gigantic. Unfortunately this means not bringing your pet brontosaurus to the game.
- Pets do not have wings. This also means pets will NOT be revived if they die. So do not kill them. That wouldn't be cool at all.
- Although their speech can be translated like other animals in Luceti in person, it will only be simplistic speech that would be expected from a simple animal.
- Pets can still be applied for even if brought into the game. If a pet, such as Repede from Tales of Vesperia, is accepted into the game, the NPC Repede would be 'sent home' and return days later, only with a pair of wings and with no memory of their time in Luceti.
- Please do not create additional journals for the purpose of pets. They are meant to stay in the background and should rarely be used without their owner (or a stand-in owner) around.
- Pets are not affected by experiments unless its environmental (such as the earthquake).

However, what about pets that have died in canon? I know petdeath is permanent if we kill them here, but for example Neville canonically has a pet toad that might be dead thanks to ambiguous canon (He's not seen after fourth year, around the same time that Things Get Real and people start dying in Harry Potter canon). Would they be able to cross over to Luceti despite timeline issues, or are you guys ruling that if they're dead in canon they're dead for real? (I also ask in case Sol is interested, since Harry's pet owl gets a proper death and I'm not sure if she'd be wanting to bring her over SO might as well cover the bases. :3)

One. Can Etna have a Prinny? Techincally, in canon, they aren't pets--they're very underpaid penguin vassals that can speak, but they're as generic and common as any Pokémon or real-world animal in Etna's canon. They're also completely useless, but they're a large part of Etna's character and they're associated with each other greatly.
Two. Do they have to belong to the character? Miu's best friend in canon, Chika, has a dog. She plays with the dog a lot, though, as do all of the characters. The dog is a very minor part of the story, and nothing that would dramatically change Miu's behavior. It just isn't hers, though she loves it.

Two. Go ahead!

2. Just one more question, sorry. Is it still okay to plot other people finding your pets?

2. That's fine. I'm already made such plans myself.

Can I have my human, then? This is cool.
Actually, semi-related question. In the future, does this mean new applicants can include a pet to come with them, or is this a one time event? (IE: How would you handle new players/characters down the line if they had a canon pet and wanted to bring it along?).

Obviously we'd need player permission to kill a pet, just like with a character, but what would happen if they did die, either from being killed, or just dying of old age because the character remains in Luceti for a long time and the pet isn't one that lives very long? Would the player be permitted to request another pet if one does exist in canon for instance?
Or what about if there are indeed multiple possibilities and a player realizes that pet B would be better than the one they registered or just changes their mind, could they have the original one sent home and register a different one as long as only one is in Luceti at a time for that character?

As for changing pets, we'll probably handle that case by case. So if it comes up, just talk to a mod.

And he'd get to tell Merlin to muck out the stables here, oh joy. ♥no subject

I found it confusing when the main post says that pets cannot be capable of speaking and being understood by the owners, and yet it's okay for Etna to have a Prinny when it can speak.

The Prinny is largely an exception made for a few reasons, one of them being that Bil already promised her one (without me realizing that they're all intelligent and speaking). So, it's not really my intention to turn one situational exception into a rule.

What is the mods' stance on adopting Luceti-pets, and what is the stance on characters that are not central enough to their canons to have pets mentioned but can reasonably assume to have one? In my case, for instance, Luna is almost guaranteed to have a pet somewhere in Hogwarts since almost every other student does, but never get to see her day-to-day life for canon confirmation. Would you all be willing to accept a reasonable headcanon pet for characters in situations like that, like letting HP kids have an owl or a cat?
Also, what kind of strays are running around Luceti? I've seen kittens, but I'm wondering if there's any stray dogs around, any breed.

Stray dogs can be found, too. Though given the nature of strays, you're unlikely to find any purebreds.
