Only canon belongings are affected. For instanct, Avatar Sokka probably won't have his Meteor Sword and Boomerang, since he never needed them before. They'd go poof until the event ends. Any belongings he's accumulated since he was in Luceti, however, would still be there. He'd just be really confused why he keeps an armor of weapons under his bed.
