Speaking of books. Shikamaru has this big huge manual (not even kidding - it's half as tall as he is) that his clan kept back at home on lots of various ailments and the types of ingredients you can use to make medicine to cure them. Seriously - tons of stuff. Besides deer-tending, they make pharmaceuticals. Special points for also living in a village surrounded by forest.

I'm planning on having Shikamaru bring excerpts of it along (...because I don't think he can carry the whole thing around out there). Thing is, he's not as medical-savvy with this kind of stuff as the rest of his clan is. Something Ginko might be interested in though, maybe?
