The log is going up for this current mission at the same time. Check out the details inside for a special chance for one character to play ‘hero’ and save the day. However playing hero doesn’t come cheap, either. There will be a thread on here to volunteer for this role!

VOLUNTEER THREAD

We need negotiators and one brave hero. Please note whether you want your character to sacrifice their life in order to save everyone. We'll pick our pair by midnight tonight, EST.

For the ones here - the named ones that is - in the interests of not making them pop up multiple times and break time-space, this is a thread where people can call dibs on using them in threads, if you want? Yeah.

ADDENDUM: I didn't think I needed to note this but the mod NPC which is actually going to be played by mod people is obviously not legit to dibs. Because he's being played. So it's up to the mods how much they want to blame him.

My bad for not noting that.

Okay my own dibs: I would love to have Gzork and/or Jewel. I'd like Gazork more and maybe we could make a little plot out of when he's knocked out (and it'll have to be a dramatic thing where Masaomi has to knock him out and keep him from killing himself I think) and his mental influence lessened, some of the people marked as reasonable on there can be won over without violence thereafter. That sound like fun to anyone?

ALL RIGHT, LET'S DO THIS THING. So. With the limited number of soldiers/guards and the need for them to guard the patients and hospital staff as well, Gai would probably want to assign one guard per two negotiators.

You guys can comment here and work out the breakdown of that (and also who wants to be guards versus soldiers since we'll need some of both). I'll be out for most of the day but I've got my phone so I can pop in where needed and if anybody has any specific ideas for things they'd like to do/have happen, go ahead and post those here too!

Masaomi's going to capture and detain his own people as a soldier/guard role. Possibly work with someone [most likely Shikamaru if the guy isn't off doing Ninja Things] and at which point he'd take up a guard role. Naturally on a personal level he would love to attach himself to Katara but he'd just think he's better suited to the covert ops thing.

Adding in, Gai himself will definitely want to hit the shift labs and the records and archives and will likely direct some of his own time towards investigating them. Does anyone want to accompany him in that? (For the shift labs, preferably people who won't be affected by the power-canceling Shift there.)

He'd probably lean soldier but in practice he might end up guarding things in his partnership depending on if he works with anyone. So I can't commit yet per se but yeah

Also I will admit to keeping the series gag of Shikamaru frequently getting girl opponents, so.

I want CR between these two, soooo Precis could accompany him to either when she has a spare moment? I know the records and archives room has digital stuff, so she could be of more use there, but wherever you want her is fine with me. If you want her at all.

Looking at the two, I'd prefer archives room...what say you?

The records and archives room would be awesome, actually, especially if she could help with the locks. Gai's probably above-average in technology proficiency but he's no hacker-- Funeral Parlor has a dedicated hacker who usually handles all of that stuff for him.

If it's hacking he wants, Precis is the girl he wants to come to. Girl basically invented coding and learned from very advanced equipment, so...if he seeks her out (I imagine it's common knowledge in Luceti that Precis is an engineer/programmer), she'd definitely be on board with this.

Shikamaru's definitely a soldier. In places where soldiers can't be reasoned with, I imagine he'll team up with someone and sneak up on groups, holding them in place with his ability while someone else sedates them.

Since reading the log it sounds like they'll be going in from the roof, he'll probably utilize stealth to move to lower floors (getting to at least Floor 16 for something he and Masaomi will be doing). He'd be intrigued by the archives (and might team up with Neji for that? I'm in talks with Del on plurk).

If a bunch of people want to get on that I can bow out so it's not crowded, and send him down to the Pediatrics floors, etc, which also interested me. IDK I'M FLEXIBLE.

EDIT: Precis would be boss at archives, so she and Gai (and Neji if Del is still interested) can do that. But if you guys still want a way to open doors quickly and quietly (ie. picking locks with his shadows, or opening doors from the inside via same method) I can have him at least do that for them before moving down the other floors.

Door-opening would most definitely be useful, and if Shikamaru wanted to check out the archives for a bit himself I don't see why not. From the sound of the post the majority of the floors aren't going to be of much interest to them anyway, so there's no need to spend a lot of time on those.

Gai will also probably want to take out all of the soldiers on the top floor so that the doctors there can get the patients who need it down to surgery. Maybe Shikamaru could help with that?

In the event a Lucetian volunteers to do this (Aww, Precis ;;), what's the procedure? Does that mean that the hero is part of the negotiator/soldier pair who meets with the crazy guy in charge, or can any of the team volunteer?

Adding on to this

We were talking about how logically Gzork would be on Level 16, the psych ward. What do you say our guys do this while the negotiations with Korzan is going on? We can throw in a room or two full of manipulated crazy people to amp up the stakes.
