Ion (17) is the adopted son of Nephry and Peony, having spent the first few years of his life in an orphanage. He has two (?) estranged brothers that were not adopted by the same parents, Sync and Florian. He's also ~secretly~ seeing Kohan, since neither of them believe their parents would approve of a same-sex relationship.
Kari (18) will be the illegitimate daughter of Tony Stark, whose mother threw out of the house the second she turned 18. She'll have only just recently learned who her real father is and will be meeting her new family for the first time when the event starts. Though originally part of the poor working class, having Tony as a father has suddenly elevated her status. She has a pending number of half-brothers depending on how much of a horndog AU-Tony turns out to be.
She's also childhood friends with Joshua and has a sisterly-sort of bond with Norma, who she looks up to a lot.
AS A SIDE NOTE: Kari's magic has an effect on her personality, causing it to change from how she used to be. Without any magic, those changes will be temporarily removed, meaning she'll be much more quiet and shy.
