The log is going up for this current mission at the same time. Check out the details inside for a special chance for one character to play ‘hero’ and save the day. However playing hero doesn’t come cheap, either. There will be a thread on here to volunteer for this role!

VOLUNTEER THREAD

-point of clarification:

In the event a Lucetian volunteers to do this (Aww, Precis ;;), what's the procedure? Does that mean that the hero is part of the negotiator/soldier pair who meets with the crazy guy in charge, or can any of the team volunteer?

This is a great question. I assumed "anyone can be the hero" meant they didn't have to be part of the negotiator/soldier pair, but that was just my best guess.

Question here. About the bomb. Would it be possible for Susan to contain the explosion? Its well within her canon abilities to do so. She's contained thermonuclear blasts in her world, and it'd be something she'd volunteer to do without a second thought.

Named NPC Dibs

For the ones here - the named ones that is - in the interests of not making them pop up multiple times and break time-space, this is a thread where people can call dibs on using them in threads, if you want? Yeah.

ADDENDUM: I didn't think I needed to note this but the mod NPC which is actually going to be played by mod people is obviously not legit to dibs. Because he's being played. So it's up to the mods how much they want to blame him.

My bad for not noting that.

Okay my own dibs: I would love to have Gzork and/or Jewel. I'd like Gazork more and maybe we could make a little plot out of when he's knocked out (and it'll have to be a dramatic thing where Masaomi has to knock him out and keep him from killing himself I think) and his mental influence lessened, some of the people marked as reasonable on there can be won over without violence thereafter. That sound like fun to anyone?

ALL RIGHT, LET'S DO THIS THING. So. With the limited number of soldiers/guards and the need for them to guard the patients and hospital staff as well, Gai would probably want to assign one guard per two negotiators.

You guys can comment here and work out the breakdown of that (and also who wants to be guards versus soldiers since we'll need some of both). I'll be out for most of the day but I've got my phone so I can pop in where needed and if anybody has any specific ideas for things they'd like to do/have happen, go ahead and post those here too!

Masaomi's going to capture and detain his own people as a soldier/guard role. Possibly work with someone [most likely Shikamaru if the guy isn't off doing Ninja Things] and at which point he'd take up a guard role. Naturally on a personal level he would love to attach himself to Katara but he'd just think he's better suited to the covert ops thing.

Adding in, Gai himself will definitely want to hit the shift labs and the records and archives and will likely direct some of his own time towards investigating them. Does anyone want to accompany him in that? (For the shift labs, preferably people who won't be affected by the power-canceling Shift there.)

Shikamaru's definitely a soldier. In places where soldiers can't be reasoned with, I imagine he'll team up with someone and sneak up on groups, holding them in place with his ability while someone else sedates them.

Since reading the log it sounds like they'll be going in from the roof, he'll probably utilize stealth to move to lower floors (getting to at least Floor 16 for something he and Masaomi will be doing). He'd be intrigued by the archives (and might team up with Neji for that? I'm in talks with Del on plurk).

If a bunch of people want to get on that I can bow out so it's not crowded, and send him down to the Pediatrics floors, etc, which also interested me. IDK I'M FLEXIBLE.

EDIT: Precis would be boss at archives, so she and Gai (and Neji if Del is still interested) can do that. But if you guys still want a way to open doors quickly and quietly (ie. picking locks with his shadows, or opening doors from the inside via same method) I can have him at least do that for them before moving down the other floors.

Amelia will likely be better off as a guard, since she's a bounty hunter by trade and thus is used to restraining and containing targets. She can do work as a soldier as well--just whatever is needed.

I have nothing specific in mind in terms of locations or npcs for Amelia yet, although Tori and I are talking about her working with Gregor on...something. Yay for being specific. /)_(\ Sorry, a bit under the weather. I will reply later with anything specific I come up with, but I am absolutely open to ideas.

Okay, folks! Slight change in plan in that Katara will be soldiering as well. Nothing's probably gonna stop her from trying to talk to these guys first, but she'll be armed (yay!).

So she could either serve as an escort for one of these negotiator types or end up doing a sweep of the floors in a round up. I think she might be in with Shikamaru and Masaomi for a Psych Ward trip (...yes, I am aware that this is somewhat ironic) but other than that, where can I be of help?

And does anyone want her for anything specific?

Okay sorry for lateness, but with Rock Lee... well I don't have much specific planned. Probably depending on which has an opening, he could work well as either guard or soldier.

Negotiator conference

At the very least, Gregor will want the negotiators to confer about their approach so they're not all stepping on each others' toes. Figure out a strategy and work toward it instead of everyone's brilliant plans smashing into each other.

And if asked, she'd say that for starters they ought to determine who could be reasoned with, and who just couldn't.

I meant to ask this earlier but was potato after the long weekend. Can Neji get a glimpse of Carol's face through the hood (via the Byakugan)? It won't give him any ability to hear the conversation and he won't recognize her for anything, but he can file her face away for later.

ETA: Additionally, I might as well ask, is there anything else that might be hidden to a casual search that would stand out to Neji inside the hospital? Even with abilities reduced, he should be able to see in probably a 30-50 meter radius around himself (his full canon range is 700 meters). To be fair, given the sheer amount of input he'd be dealing with, something would have to look very unusual to ping him -- or be alive. Part of what he sees is the energy inside living beings, and he'll be mostly looking for traps and ambushes.

As for your second question, you'd have to be looking for something specific beyond generic hospital staff/furniture/etc, otherwise that's way too much to describe.

Hi! I missed this completely somehow and oops. Nephry is a negotiator on this mission and I have a couple of NPCs that I would specifically love if she talked to and I would also love if she made the trip to the archives when not involved in doing that.

And she would need some guards. And maybe a strong drink afterward.
