AMA - Ask Me Anything
This is it. The end. The final mod post.
(DEEP BREATH.)
LUCETI AMA - ASK ME ANYTHING
Luceti has pretty much come to an end - and thank you all for making it freaking STELLAR, despite the lag in it actually happening - and because of that, we've done our best to tie up all the loose ends and give as many answers as made sense for the finale. But for some, understandably, that might not be enough.
So. Is there anything you've been dying to know for years? Some mystery that made no sense to you (and was hopefully not just bullshit on our part)? Some tangle of plot you'd like unraveled? This, here, is your chance.
Ask away! I will try my best to satisfy your curiosity. Though I reserve the right to shrug my shoulders and go "IDK I FORGET" because seven years is a very long time >_> Also I might try to bully answers out of past mods for stuff I'm unsure of.
But either way, this could be fun :D Come pick the modly brains!
Also, uh, feel free to use this as a final HMD if you have any issues with endgame. There are reasons for certain things happening, some of which were out of mod control, but feedback is always good.
Once again, thanks everybody for making this awesome <3 Gonna miss all of you.
Rest in peace, dorky little wing game.

Why wings?
ALSO remembering some other plot stuff... what was the deal with that scientist in the tunnels who had that machine preserving her death? What would have happened if we had chosen to revive her?
tiptoeing back here late and stuff hey
Truthfully, though, the more honest answer is "because wings were an established gimmick before I joined the creative team". Which was... idk, between six months to a year after the game started, maybe? I'm not entirely sure when the torch was passed, but the game originally conceived by Kris and Eggy involved everyone getting wings. I don't know if there was a purpose behind them aside from it being a unique feature (much like any other sandboxy game) added/given to characters to keep them controlled and give them a universal weakness. After Eggy and I started collaborating, the plot expanded beyond the mwa-ha-ha scientists to a more complex, overarching thing, something that future mod teams were able to build on.
Not to say there's anything wrong with the core concept of the game, but it was much more simple, and I had nothing to do with developing the basics. So basically, "because they were there".
As for the scientist in the tunnels, that was more Masa and Aly's baby than mine, but what most likely would have happened is that a lot more of the recent plot development would have been revealed, rather angrily, through a depressed and suicidal (and likely mentally damaged) NPC. A lot of our detailed planning happened on the fly to avoid writing ourselves into what-if corners (or getting excited over things that wouldn't happen) so since that was the road not taken, we didn't give it an abundance of thought.
Short answer is that the characters would have had a whole lot of confusing information and probably a lot more work as a reward, trying to help the poor soul who just wanted to stay dead. Would she have helped in the long run? Entirely possible. She might have even gone home with them all eventually.
On the flipside, though, since time travel shenanigans changed the entire tunnel system and the progress of the organization's research, she's probably fine now :B
