Activity Check Results / HMD

The results for the Activity Check are in. Please note that the following characters were either inactive, didn't post to the activity check, or failed to speak to a moderator about their activity. Also added were characters who have dropped, for your convenience.

Copy-paste the following here:

A number of you passed the activity check, but barely. (You know who you are.) Try to pick things up, as it's no fun to character-squat.

If there are any mistakes here, please let us know! Additionally, if your character was removed and you're still active, feel free to appeal to one of us about keeping your character. However, please remember next time to stay active and post to the Activity Check. Thank you!

And as always:

HMD

How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

Weird that this comes on the day I just failed to get my driving license. Again. *sob*

On to actual matters, though - have at me, good Lucetians! What am I doing right and what am I doing wrong?

Considering your Giles is entirely the reason why I, someone who was terrified of vampires as a kid and isn't particularly comfortable with them now, am now watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I think that should say something!

Even before I started watching the show, you really made me care about him as a character and made him stand out among Grune's CR, which is quite the achievement, considering. As a mun, you're amazingly approachable and friendly--often I can be a little shy about talking with other people if I don't know them well, but I never felt that way when we were discussing plots. (And now I really don't. ^_^)

So, basically, keep being awesome. ♥

As for Lina, I haven't seen as much of her around, so I can't really say as much. However, she's definitely on my mental list of people to tag more often, and I think she and Grune could have a lot of fun in the future. ♥

...Also, better luck next time with your driver's license? D:

^-^ It does, indeed, and that will always, always be my favorite compliment to get on my handling of his character.

I do take it as a huge honor that Giles has actually managed to stand out from Grune's CR - as I mentioned in that one fic, most of the people he hangs out with are...kind of busted up, emotionally, so for him to be able to connect on a quantifiable level with someone who is so sweet and happy and kind is a big deal on both sides.

And, and d'aw, thank you, I really do try ♥. S-So that makes me really happy to hear. The fact that you wrote that awesome fic for me really did help get the ball rolling, although (as the friending meme seems to have helped prove) I have no doubt we would have gotten to know one another eventually.

I will if you keep being awesome right back at me.

I do, too, especially since Lina prefers to be around people who are...well, she would call them "morons", although with Grune (as a fellow female), she might be a bit more tactful. Her love interest, Gourry, is...only slightly less absentminded and forgetful than Grune is, and doesn't have magical amnesia to excuse it, so I think that Lina could really be on firm ground with her. I do hope to actually finish a thread between the two of them soonish.

And thanks for the well wishing on the driving. I was all fired up to finally take the test today and finally get the parental units off my back, only to realize that nope, unless I have a valid license from my home state, I have to go through the whole song and dance with my permit all over again. I can now understand the feelings of deepseated rage most people have when thinking of the DMV.

lostinmyway: (Because I love all of you so much.)

Now that I have a tiny breather from Luceti Land....

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-21 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, Giles, she loves you. ♥ Some of her best friends are busted up (just talk to Jay), so don't go feeling like you don't deserve to be her friend or anything, okay?

And awww, still so glad you liked the fic. I don't show my writing to people very often these days, so that means a lot you liked it so much. (If I can finally stop editing it, there should be another one coming very soon.)

I'll certainly do my best!

Hmm, I should tag her in the Luceti Land post. Because we both don't have nearly enough to do there, right? /s-sob

GAH. I hope karma strikes your DMV as swiftly as the coursing river, with the force of a great typhoon, with the strength of a raging fire, and...mysteriously as the dark side of the moon? Uh, yeah. :D;;

And if I can get off my butt and clear away some of these projects, there should be another fic coming your way very soon as well.

You should. Or she'll tag yours'. Lina will remember Grune - chiefly for the chest envy.

Mysteriously as the dark side of the moon is the best kind of karma, don't'cha know, mostly because it's also the hardest to trace.
lostinmyway: (Oh my isn't this lovely?)

Especially that one! @_@

Eeee, yay, can't wait!

I'll see if I can get my inbox cleared out and go after her this morning. :Db

This is true! You can get your revenge and still get your license without anyone being the wiser.

Because of you, I'm going to begin watching Buffy the Vampire slayer on Netflix once I'm home from vacation.

But Giles is wonderful. Yes, I'm canon-blind with my only information coming from what I've read about him on wiki pages, but he's such a wonderful character to play off. I enjoy the interaction with him, but also how he interacts with everyone else. Also you're a very easy person to plot and talk to and that means a lot from this shy little thing over here.

So keep on being awesome, yes?

...And one day I need to tag Lina. Why have I not tagged Lina?

Probably because Lina hasn't done much of anything since the last experiment? I had a bad point with her voice. It seems to be coming back all right, though - Dad has all five seasons, which is of the good for canon review.

And yesssss, I love hearing that from people. BtVS, for all its problems, is an amazing kind of show and more people should watch it. *fistpump* I'm always kind of surprised to hear that Giles' interactions with others are what gets people, though, considering his mentor role on the show to the other three.

And aw, thank you! I do love making new friends through this game, so I'm glad I actually come off that way. I do try to be open - I was the noobiest of the noobs back when I first started RPing on Livejournal, and the game I first joined had lots of people who were all ridiculously willing to be patient with me. Pay it forward, and all that. But I'm glad we were able to find one another on the friending meme, I'm glad you're on my flist now.

One of the things that stick out most with Giles is that you post him as being the mature, long-living man he is, which is sometimes difficult to do when the player doesn't have a comparable amount of life experiences themselves. But playing up against Giles, I have no doubt he's as old as his canon says he is, nor do I feel like I'm playing up against a stereotype of what an 'old guy' should be like, and that's a heck of an accomplishment, IMHO.
