How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

Kyra, Oz is fantastic. I really think you nail his voice. And SUCH A DIFFERENT CHARACTER from Jilly. I have enjoyed threading with him and being involved with the werewolfing episode, and I will continue stalking his laconic ass.

In... Relation to the Renegade Malnosso Kidnappers, that big hanging plot thing. While I realize it may or may not be plot expedient to do so, I really feel like Luceti is a game that no longer needs (and indeed is possibly weakened by) the enemy having the ability to randomly kidnap anyone whenever they want with impunity. There was the raiding of that base a long while back and there was a handful of "victory against the droids" mini-plots with varying degrees of success and I think Luceti would have a fun time seeing these things through to a conclusion.

That could go any number of ways, but offhand:
- Running a large plot dealing with Renegade leadership
- Running an underground NPC (or maybe even Bil) doing an anti-Renegade campaign
- Have a series of unique missions be put against them
- Have some players (I know there's a few with interest in this anyway) complete an anti-droid procedure to kick this off

Now, despite this, I do understand the convenience of having something (unlike missions) which isn't ICly optional as a hiatus device or something. One of the alternatives Griff and I came up with for it is perhaps introducing a form of Shift Sickness inside the barrier. We already had something similar to it with the spirit possessions a while back and we of course have the one-day quirks in the drafts due to incompatibility, but the idea would be that people can get it in the barrier and thus the hiatused player could either say they were sick with the Whacky Flu for the time or create some sort of Malnosso Medical Intervention Squad to stop the problem flat (because it's problematic for damaging goods) to take people in to cure it. In this, people could still end up with Whacky Effects without having to induce the trauma that the random kidnappings always seems to put on CR.

Of course, these are just some ideas I and a few others I've discussed this with have had in mind, so it's something to consider or perhaps ask the large game about at some point in the future.

I sort of agree; I really like all of the new stuff that's been added recently (missions especially!) and I think the recent events have been great as well, but I also would like to see the "plot" moving forward, as in learning more about the wider world beyond the barrier. It's a little jarring that although many characters are actually getting to go out there now and see things, our actual understanding of what's happening isn't changing.

I'd love to see some more interactive world-building; characters learning plot points while on the special missions, for instance, or another NPC that has a perspective different from the ones we've encountered so far, to give the characters more to think about. The things Charles suggested below could also be an interesting place to start.

SO- my activity pretty much dive bombed the past... couple of weeks? But I'm working on fixing that. Also working on a quick canon review since I feel like I could be doing a little more with him and some of his tags (which is saying something since he's an almost-mute-never-answers-your-questions-only-half-listens-space-cadet-amnesiac bear guy BUT he still get's an awful lot of adorable/sometimes cool scenes in canon that I don't always feel I'm transferring over very well in my playing)

But other then those two things I'd say go for it! I also have a personal HMD on his journal if you don't feel comfortable using the game's HMD.

guys -- i know i dropped quite a few threads this past weekend. and as a heads up my activity might be spotty for a while. an unexpected loss in the family has prompted a last-minute trip back to my hometown; i'll try to be around later. this also means that i probably won't have the chance to comment around for this hmd. i apologize!
