It's correct that Viral does have shark DNA as a part of his make up, though it should be noted that he takes more from the feline and humanoid parts of his composition. While he is indeed a powerful swimmer, he cannot breathe under water.

Day 1 has Viral mostly out in the wilderness searching for the missing 18 people. At some point he takes a request for aquatic assistance from Smoker. It's highly likely that he won't sleep this night (because he still thinks that his immortality and perpetual insomnia are still unaffected by all of this), and will continue working with minimal breaks.
Day 2 has the effects of the conditions start to build up for him, but he powers through despite lack of sleep. He continues his search and rescue, eventually teaming up with Shikamaru. He returns to camp late in the day, to assist with duties there and possibly do some hunting. He will sleep this night.
Day 3 sees him moderately rested and throwing himself into the thick of things once combat breaks out. He will be trying to protect those less able to fight during this, and will likely take some damage because of his carelessness. Again, his unnatural healing is affected here. All damage will be neutralized once conditions stabilize or when he returns to the enclosure.
It should be noted that he's armed with his cleaver this entire time, has animalistically acute senses, and will be hunting with a bow and arrow during the times he's back at the encampment. He's not much of a talker, but he will be reasonable over the radios, maintain regular contact, and will work well in a group. Just don't be surprised if he's not the nicest guy around.
