Find the cure!

Okay, one last thing for the draft! We've received some concerns about how the cure will progress. We know it's short notice, but bear with us. So what we need is someone to find the key to the cure. There's one man who can help with that. Korras Blake. Who will find him? Well, the only fair way is to let everyone have a shot. Here's some criteria for signing up:

1. Your character is still on the draft as of the 30th.

2. Your character is not infected and can tough out the conditions present in Vaskoth.

3. They need to have a chance influencing him. Korras responds well to people who are smart and cunning like him. Reckless heroism is what he considers stupid and suicidal. He won't give anything to people who can't talk him into it.

4. Tough enough to survive any zombies, shift hunters, armed survivors, or whatever else is out there.

If you're like your character to do such, sign up here. Tonight at 12AM EST, I'll be in lucetiplot on AIM to use the chatroom's built in random number generator to select the person who will thread with him on the 31st. The 'winner' will be able to choose one other person to accompany them.

If Korras is talked into it, he'll participate in the creation of a cure. If successful, it will be in their best interest to relay this information to the Malnosso. Ideally he should be available to work with from 8PM (Vaskothan time) on the 30th. This will give them nearly twenty hours to create a cure.

Also, a small note. Once the cure is created and Carol or Davis has relayed the news, the Malnosso will call off the bomb so they can mass produce it and send in droids to administer it. Those who are uninfected (and not already evacuated) will be returned to Luceti at 4PM and the infected will be returned at about 9PM on the 31st. They will be free from the infection, but they will have to heal from the physical strain placed on their body, on top of any other injuries.

Name: Nara Shikamaru
Qualifications: They've talked before, Shikamaru gave him some info in exchange for the KCs leaving Luceti on more peaceable terms and presented the desire to form an alliance (and working on the food supply run, he extended help to Kin'corans especially in keeping with that). Unless the info he passed on was deemed useless, that hopefully puts him in good standing. I had him down as being one of the people in the search party on the 29th too, and in light of this he would've kept looking.

Beyond that, he probably has a legit idea for why Korras would be unwilling to help, and can negotiate around that. Aaaand he'll be around on the last day definitely, doing his job until there's no longer any point to bothering one way or another. He's not sticking around because he's a hero, he's sticking around because he's a soldier.

Name: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Qualifications: While no longer able to draw on the Force, he is still well versed in multiple weapon styles, martial arts, and survival skills, and has a good grasp of tactics and subterfuge, making him well suited to evade or overcome the majority of the infected between himself and Korras.

As for the negotiation itself, Obi-Wan is a capable negotiator, very good at reading people's motivations and persuading them to his way of thinking... and capable of applying very compelling leverage if pushed. In his own canon, he's renowned for his ability to end conflicts without violence, so surely convincing a man to save his own life and those of an entire enclosure shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Name: Loki
Qualifications: Loki is uninfected. He's a giant, manipulative bastard, and incredibly intelligent, so he's got the skills necessary for negotiating and convincing in spades as long as his player doesn't fuck it up. By the 31st he will have finally adjusted to the power limit, which means while he's stuck basically being mortal, he'll be a mortal with a thousand years of experience stabbing things, so he ought to be able to survive. Mostly because he's not too proud to run away and hide since he's not a combat monkey.

However, I will note that going it alone in such an environment by anyone seems pretty reckless and stupid (to someone like Loki and presumably someone like Korras) so I would recommend actually maybe letting two people in on it, since two are way more likely to be able to tough it through the hazards.
calmbeforethe: (we should discuss this)

Name: Ororo Munroe / Storm
Qualifications: Storm is a hero, but she is far from reckless! She is level-headed, speaks with authority and has canonly been shown to be diplomatic enough to keep her cool when speaking to a Senate and Congress full of people who were all set to hate and fear her kind, on national television. She is an X-Man, so despite the disadvantage she is in for not having access to her powers, she has also been trained to fight without them. She won't have too much problem dealing with any hostiles while searching for Korras.

Storm also goes by a personal moral code: she won't use violence unless absolutely necessary, and has a respect for all life that will pretty much fuel her resolve to find this man who can help with the cure. She's extremely determined to see this draft to end without a bomb and will put all her efforts to put a stop to that plan.
touchofrogue: (I See You)

[personal profile] touchofrogue 2012-10-30 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Rogue
Qualifications: Rogue is an X-Man and with the amount of training she's received that puts her right about a notch (maybe two) below badass normal. She wouldn't want to engage with any of the baddies still out there, but she'd be skilled enough to get out of most sticky situations and continue on her path.

Not only that, but during the Kin'corans little visit to Luceti, she worked closely with several members of the enclosure. Rogue is intimately familiar with what the situation was in Kin'cora, and with how important Korras is to them. She's spoken with several familiar NPCs during the draft, and has a pretty good idea of who to look for and the kind of man that Korras is.

At this point, with Logan dying and Pepper infected, Rogue is absolutely determined to get the cure. She won't lie to Korras, but that's about the only thing she won't do. She's determined to stay until the end and with the knowledge that they all could be killed if the cure isn't found, figures she has nothing left to lose.

Name: Mordin Solus
Qualifications: Mordin has spearheaded the Lucetian effort in creating the zombification cure. He has barricaded himself into the hospital with heavy fortification and assistance from other Lucetians in an attempt to produce a true, definitive cure. Using his extensive knowledge of space-age medical techniques, Mordin has developed a prototype cure which restores mental function to the infected. While he had moral issues in distributing this proto-cure, given the psychological and physical pain experienced during the zombification process, he has nonetheless left the cure available to all who wish to take it.

As for personal qualifications, Mordin is an experienced field medic, doctor, and professor of biology. Also a seasoned soldier, Mordin spent several years in the STG, the salarian equivalent of the Special Forces. Many missions with the STG has given him tactical, scientific and negotiation skills necessary to disarm most any situation. Near the end of his life, Mordin played an integral part in negotiating wartime aid from the krogan, a powerful war-loving species with an intense hatred for the salarians and their allies. If necessary for success, Mordin can prove very persuasive, by any means necessary.

Name: Masaomi Kida
Qualifications: Masaomi is a badass normal (these days, anyway) who is determined and cool and has spoken with Korras before. He was close-ish buds with people from Kin'cora and has a decent following of the situation there. He also personally liked Korras, though if that was reciprocated is way more debatable.

Cravat: He is not in any search party, he is guarding the hospital and thus would remain in the area of it. If that's illogical for him to accidentally bump into Blake, rule me out, but if that seems sound, I'm putting his name in just because.

Name: Gai Tsutsugami
Qualifications: Gai has been shown in canon to be an excellent negotiator; that's how he manages to secure supplies and financial backing for Funeral Parlor from some wealthy and influential supporters. He may not be able to see Voids in Luceti, but he's still very good at reading people and situations. Like Korras, he deals best with people who are intelligent and calculating, as he's the sort of person who plans everything out to the Nth degree. He's also not above using some slightly underhanded methods if that becomes necessary either.

Survival-wise, Gai is just a Badass Normal with no powers, so the power cap won't affect his fighting ability at all. And he's had lots of training in combat so he's more than capable of handling himself; in addition, he uses guns so he can avoid getting close to the zombies and decrease any risk of infection. He's not going to be leaving until the very last moment possible.
