THE SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER ROUND UP

Hey everyone, this is another round up for the end of our two month cycle. Just a group of news-items and helpful links! But before we get into all that, we just want to let you guys know that a random dice roll in the ~lucetiplot chat room determined that Obi-Wan Kenobi was the character to find and negotiate with Korras Blake in the cure-finding portion of the draft. Although the process is still being threaded out, rest assured that even getting Korras back to the hospital will be enough to convince the Malnosso to hold off in the hopes of a cure. No one will be dying -- at least not via bombing.

  1. The Mod Team now has an official Mod Plurk! Become a fan at [plurk.com profile] lucetimods if you’d like to use Plurk to keep track of our posts. And while we’re on the subject of Plurk, just be aware that not all the mods use Plurk’s ping system. As such, don’t hesitate to send a private Plurk instead. Or use any of the other methods of contact: PMs or AIM.

  2. Like last time around, we have a section for people who want to be app helpers. How does it work? Well you sign up here with the canons you think you know well. If we mods run into something we don't know or need a second opinion on, we'll ring you up and ask you to take a gander. Comments are screened on here. If you signed up last time, feel free to edit your comment with anything you want to add. Remember, applications open tonight at 12AM EST!

  3. We want to remind people of a few things we have regarding giving us suggestions on stuff. If you have an event idea, you can use the Event Suggestions post. We have a separate one for Mission Suggestions. For things about the game in general, we have the Suggestions post as well as the Complaints and Concerns post. We do use suggestions that are submitted to us.

  4. Also remember that you if you want to arrange a player plot, you should contact a mod so you can use the Player Event Sign-up Post. This will ensure you get added to the calendar and nothing gets scheduled over it.

  5. There will be a new mission announcement in roughly a week from now. Keep your eyes peeled! If you’d like to have a look at past missions or even sign up for one of the non-unique ones, check them out here.

  6. A new area has been unlocked in the tunnels. This kicks off a long-term excavation plot that will be unraveled gradually over the foreseeable future. Characters will have the opportunity through a combination of work within the enclosure and without to slowly move deeper within the tunnel complex. If you want to get your character involved, keep an eye on upcoming mod posts and don’t shy away from missions!

  7. In September, we had an amnesia event. Then, this last month saw some some spooky happenings around the village as well as a massive Halloween draft. On the draft, both Davis and Carol were available for threads, as well as some interaction between the two of them on their own.

  8. An NPC spreadsheet has been established to help keep track of both mod- and player-created NPCs. This is a great resource for on missions and drafts where characters are likely to run into people from other parts of the world. Use of the spreadsheet isn’t obligatory but it can be a useful tool -- especially if you need an NPC in a pinch! Please keep in mind that all NPCs (if based in any real canon) should ultimately be background characters. They should not be individuals that your characters would know.

  9. Some small updates on the side: The Directory has been changed around. We’ve also updated the Plot page since the premise was out of date.

  10. Remember, Applications open tonight at 12:00AM Eastern Standard Time. Application Interests are still open and you can also still tag around on the Test Drive meme.

Finally, there have been some questions about plot-development updates. So here is a quick and dirty run-down of how previous drafts and missions have affected the world outside Luceti’s barrier:

    • As seen on the NPC document, we have revealed some details about what became of the rogue soldiers on the Desset City Hospital mission. Many of them are being rehabilitated and put back on probational duty. The more dangerous ones are locked up and under close observation. A direct result of this mission was Davis gifting Precis the sunglasses that enabled the discovery of the new tunnel section mentioned above. Due to her sacrifice in saving everyone, Davis’s view of Luceti improved after the hit it had taken in the wake of the Kin’coran refugee situation.

    • Droid Sabotage - As mentioned on the draft announcement, some of the droids are no longer as indestructible as they once were. This means Lucetians can now fight against kidnappings and potentially elude them. Whether this happens or not is at the discretion of the players. If you want your mallynapping to succeed, then that just means you got droids from the ‘good batch’ created prior to the mission. If you escape the mallynapping, then you got droids from the ‘defective batch’ created as a result of the mission. This has impacted other enclosures. On the current draft, there would have been chatter from Zompania, Excenn, and Kin’cora about defeating or dodging the droids when they came to kidnap them or take them on the draft.
    • The Free the Test Subjects Association (FTSA) worked closely with the Lucetians during this mission. Consequently they have begun to increase their efforts in the world at large, forming protests in large cities. Many of the families of Malnosso scientists and researchers have become the subject of harassment by fringe members of the FTSA as well as members of the press. Due to limited manpower in the MSF to keep things in control, the central Malnosso operations division has been forced to increase droid production to maintain order. There are rumours (and these rumours would have been passed around on the last draft by the MSF) that the latest FTSA-organized operation may involve compromising the enclosure supply lines as a means of shaking up the status-quo. As such, the Malnosso may be redirecting most of its security concerns towards keeping their enclosures well-stocked.
    • Following the events of the Rataneran Keep mission, Rem has since confirmed to those who have asked that the Count has been missing (and presumed assassinated) since the festival. It has been implied by her (and by MSF chatter overheard on missions and drafts) that the Organization is in a state of administrative chaos, with an interim board of directors overseeing its operations until another CEO can be chosen. Considering Bil had also recently run into a spot of bad luck, some MSF members are bold enough to joke about the position being cursed.
