Okay guys, August is officially PLOT AND PROGRESS MONTH. That means a lot of funny business is going down, and finally the mysterious question you've all been asking is getting answered:
Applications will re-open 12:01 AM on August 25th, and close at 11:59 PM on the 31st.
You'll notice this is at the end of the month; this is quirky because- ...because I'm tired of getting asked about when they're re-opening. D| No, seriously, due to the plotstuffs going on, it makes sense to have a cycle from Bizarro World, so this is where the next announcement comes in:
From September onward, applications will be open in a bi-monthly cycle.
Meaning the next time apps will be open is November 1-7, then January 1-7, and so on, and so forth. The sad fact is that with applications, New Feather arrivals, all that jazz- it's really difficult to run plot and events and whatnot. This past break showed us something- with no distractions or mod influence, you guys get really creative :| Which is good, but it means we need some sort of mod schedule. SO. With a spare month of no application distractions, hopefully everyone (mods and players alike) can let those brainwheels spin and we'll have more going on; during application months we can still run a normal event (or a few, depending on the events themselves) without any interference. This way we should be organized enough to help players work their plots around what's happening in Luceti.
Enough of that organizing business, you're here for fun, right? And that means it's
EVENT TIME. ...Again. And this one is a pretty involved plot event, so EYES FORWARD PLZ.
On August 4th, around 9:30 AM, Luceti will experience an earthquake. Within an hour, the western tunnels will collapse. Residents of houses along the main path had better vacate fast, because their houses are very likely going with them. They might just stagger, or they might collapse completely. Most of the village will experience varying degrees of damage, regardless of where their houses are, but those above the tunnel will be hit the hardest. Before long characters will discover that the power cap has vanished, and it's a good thing, too- they'll need all the strength they've got to dig through the rubble and rescue their friends from broken buildings. The image below shows the areas of collapsing tunnels:

Most of the southern houses should escape relatively unscathed, so people will at least have somewhere to go while their houses are big piles of rubble. Shortly after the collapse, the barrier will flash and begin flickering sporadically between transparent and a slightly reddish tone, visible to the eye for the first time. Other things seem to be going wrong; there's not as much food in the grocery shop (also it's sort of FALLING APART), wings are changing colour, items that characters previously received from home are disappearing, the echoes they experienced before are still around, but wrong, as if the world is belching out images from some alternate universe. Characters may see themselves in the mirror in different states of being (eg. Garlock!Simon or the female P3 protagonist instead of Minato). Journal entries are glitchy and sometimes altered; characters might create a voice post and play it back only to find their parent's voice calling them to supper embedded in the middle of it, or the same post in someone else's voice entirely.
And the land isn't fixing itself. Even if characters choose to wait it out instead of repairing anything, the ground doesn't return to being level, nor do the houses repair themselves.
The next day, Rem will contact the villagers requesting aid; John is unfortunately buried and trapped under the wreckage of the tunnel and his lab, in desperate need of a rescue, what with the whole lacking-air thing, and it's up to you Luceti folks to clear out that tunnel to get to him. With the power cap gone, characters can use powers, super strength, love and justice, whatever it takes. There will be a log, so you guys can react, chat, find cool and slightly broken stuff, the works. It'll be a fun little exploration trip, so be as creative as you like. If you aren't sure what they'll find down below, the old lab/tunnel post is here.
While anyone can participate in the dig, only a few people can actually find the lab and get John out of there, since it's not exactly easy to track down and a massive thread with everyone would be a disaster. Just like we did when it came down to killing the Third Party General, there'll be a draw of who actually gets to do it. To qualify, your character needs to be old enough (eg. not like, six) and strong enough to participate. This doesn't rule out normal folk, but be realistic and volunteer characters who would ICly do it. The winner of the draw can put together a digging team of 2-4 people who are interested in getting involved, those they can trust to keep up with a plot-based log. It can be action style to keep things moving, no worries. If you don't/can't pick a group for fear of favouritism or something, I can draw more names. If you're volunteering, PLEASE WRITE "VOLUNTEER" in the subject and be clear about who you're volunteering.
I'll be announcing who does it within a few days, and shortly after that I'll want the commitment of their team, so think about who your character would bring along. o/ You guys can also respond to threads and organize groups in this post. Be free! And all that jazz.
Seems nice and easy, doesn't it, just a simple rescue mission? Don't expect everything to go smoothly from then on, however. There is something seriously wrong with Luceti, and it isn't finished breaking yet.
Also the draft post has been cleared of characters who signed up previously, so if you want to go out again or haven't signed up at all, the post is over yonder.
FINALLY here's the friend remove list for July:
