Now, let’s get the ball rolling with a few announcements.

1. APPLICATIONS

Item one! Applications have been revised with a new post you may have already noticed. Luceti has been around for a long while now and we thought it was about time we updated both the fandom and original character applications to better reflect where Luceti is as a game. Some new things to take note of:

Canon Point Explanation - This is where we ask you to elaborate on your choice of canon point. This isn’t meant to be a meaty section. It’s just to show us why you chose what you did.

Anything Else - This is an optional field for extra stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else, like special equipment or pets or what have you that your character will be bringing along.

World History - For original characters only. This is an important section for talking about the world your character comes from. A lot of time in applications, this tends to get mixed up with character histories. This is so we can keep them distinct and let you do some world building.

The App Examples page shows what we expect from applications and has been fleshed out and expanded to give a clearer idea of what we’re looking for.

2. CONTACTS

We ended up a little behind on the contacts, but we finally cleared out the backlog. To make sure it doesn’t happen again, we’ve enabled editing again. You can find a link to it here. You have to be a member of the luceti comm to access it, though.

3. FOURTH WALL

It’s back again! The annual Fourth Wall event. This year it will be the 26th and 27th, so be sure to get all your extra journals together before then. Here’s some hard and fast rules about what exactly goes on for those of you who haven’t had one with us yet.

For forty-eight hours, Luceti will suddenly be flooded with individuals from everywhere and anywhere. These can be extra characters from players in the game or from players outside the game! In general, you can tag in with whatever you like. Whether it be a double of another Luceti character, a long lost castmate, or a deliciously tantalizing slice of pie. It’s whatever you want to play around with!

As always, characters won’t remember the two days of the event. After the two days are over, there will just be an unexplained gap in everyone’s memories. However interactions between Lucetians may be vaguely recalled, though they won’t pertain to actually knowing what happened during the two days.

General rules of appropriateness apply. If you’re going to do anything that would require a warning, then make sure you do so. It’s all in good fun, but try and use your head about what seems appropriate or not.

Only threads between characters in-game will count for the AC next month.

Feel free to invite all of your friends to come hang out. The event starts on the 26th at midnight EST. We encourage you to post with your journals and get people to tag you there. We WILL have a log on the 27th at midnight, however. That’s a full 24 hours after the event starts. You’re welcome to use it as much as you like, but we do want to stress using journals. Otherwise with an event like this, the log may hit 5000 tags way too quickly.

Just curious, but what made you guys decide to add a canon point explanation section?

Actually, there are a couple of points that were brought up in favour of this new field when we were discussing it as a team. Let me give you a quick rundown:

* We assume thought and care already goes into a player's canon point choice, and asking for this explanation invites the player to share those thoughts with us. It helps us at least briefly access the mental process a player is using when they later on make their arguments for characterization.

* It is especially helpful for apps where we don't know the canon and will be canon-reviewing especially for that app during that cycle. Sometimes we don't automatically know that someone saying "Season 4 Episode 8" translates out to, say, the moment after a character's best friend was kidnapped (which would of course influence characterization in turn).

* Ultimately, we added it because it's not really asking for much. A couple sentences will suffice, and in cases were canon points are tricky or where revisions are likely to be requested, allowing players to have this chance to explain their reasoning will (in the long run) expedite the application process.

For the fourth wall event, are we allowed to incorporate fandom OCs? In my pile of waythehecktoomany extra journals I have one, though he's got no personal connection to canon characters and I don't think we've got any characters from his canon in Luceti at all.

kingbowser - what it says on the tin. He'd be coming in from early Paper Mario, possibly with Route memories and pogeymans, but definitely in his glorious Koopa form.

waypastcool - SatAM Sonic with Luceti memories. B]

spindash - Classic Sonic because he's cute.

guilmon - Guilmon possibly with Luceti memories.

culu - Culumon, cululu!

keybearer - AU Riku from a complicated 'verse who has a Keyblade.

islandshore - eighteen year-old Riku with Pokémanz.

I don't have much in terms of other characters to bring, but for the muses I have, I could go with Doctor Doom (bowbeforedoom) from Marvel Comics or Jinbei (sunny_pirate) from One Piece. Admittedly, I really need to look into more comics for Doom (I had a hard enough time finding all of his Fantastic Four appearances - I have no idea how I'll find out when he appeared in Spider-Man, X-Men, the Avengers, the individual members of the Avengers, that time Luke Cage beat the crap out of him for not paying $200, etc.), but I just find the character fun to throw at people.

I've got other characters (Solid Snake from Metal Gear, Dr. King Schultz from Django Unchained, the Blacker Baron from Anarchy Reigns), but I don't know if I'll have them appear - depends on the individual posts, I guess. Also, I might bring back Blackbeard from One Piece, just for the lolz.
