Well well, it looks like we have quite the little group of test subjects now, don't we~?

It has been very entertaining watching all of you scamper about like lab mice, trying to figure out where you are. But we suppose it's time to let you all know a little bit of information. It's no fun keeping you completely in the dark, now is it?

Who are we? Well, you can simply call us the Malnosso. None of you need to know our individual names. We arrived here in this world a while ago and have been running tests on the Filial inhabitants of this village for quite some time. Unfortunately, not all of the winged beings living here could, a hah, handle our little experiments. We started to lose subjects, and decided we needed more.

You all were quite easy to pluck from your homes and alter. And we must say, it was also very... entertaining~. We're sure none of your remember the process, but each of you reacted quite uniquely to the alterations. Most of you bled quite a bit. You should thank us for stopping that~.

Ah, we think that's enough for now. Continue as you were, little subjects~.

I wouldn't believe their answer, if I were you. If they had no trouble picking up kids for their experiments, they'd have no issue lying to us about this, too.

There probably is, and when we find it, we'll use it. But for now I think it'd be safer to take them in, or find someone who can keep an eye on them personally... And I'm sure there are a lot more kids than just those three. These scientists are... something else.

... you really think there might be a way to protect them? We don't even know what kind of experiments these... Malnosso are going to perform. All we know is that they've already wiped out one race doing them.

Well, there's always strength in numbers... isn't there? At least this way, they're safer from most OTHER threats, too. I don't doubt that these scientists may not be the worst of the people here.

I think that's the best we can do. I'm not exactly a fighter, especially when you take into account the type of people who are here, but I'll do my best to protect anyone I can.

Probably, but I can improvise if it's needful. It'd be easier with my spells at full strength, but the loss of blood from when they put these wings on my back has made it weaker.

Do you have something with which to defend yourself?

Spells... you know, magic is so common among you people, I'm starting to wonder if it's us without spells who are abnormal.

Okay then. Starting as soon as we can, I think it'd be prudent for me to give you some basic defense lessons with a knife of some sort. Just in case and all that. Unless you've got some ideals that are against that... But I'd hate to see you in trouble without any idea of how to defend yourself.

(Poor Phoenix. Sellz'll train him with basics if he wants. She likes him cos he's serious and reminds her of a friend back home.)

I'll have to think about it. There are definitely people I want to protect, but I'm not sure I could live with myself if I ended up actually hurting someone else, no matter who they were.
