Event tiiiime~~.
Hey everyone. The event this time is going to rival the hunter event on the bad scale. xD Welcome to the virus event. Yes, I have been planning this one since the beginning, just I was planning the hunter. During the event, the Malnosso are going to release two strains of a virus. It's not a real life virus, so I did not come up with a name for it or anything. One strain is lethal, one isn't.
Strain 1 - This is the non-lethal strain. The symptoms will begin with muscle pain and aches, a headache, and dizzy spells. It will progress within one to two days into a high fever, which will also include coughing fits, and spells of severe pain. If anyone has seen Fushigi Yuugi, think of the disease that was spreading in the village where Miaka found Mitsukake. After about three days, the fever should break and the other symptoms will begin to fade. They should recover within two to three days after that.
Strain 2 - This is the lethal version. It starts very much the same as strain one, but the difference is that when the fever develops, it won't break. Within a day or two of developing the fever, it will spike, explode, and the character will die (meaning your character's immune system boiled them alive, basically). The pain spells will be more severe than strain one up until death.
Is the disease contagious? Well, that is basically up to you guys. If you want a character to develop the disease after caring for someone else, that's perfectly fine. But if you wish for them to remain immune, that's okay too. This doesn't have to effect everyone, just like any of our other events. You guys also choose which strain a character gets. While it would make more sense for someone caring for a victim of Strain 2 to develop Strain 2, I am not going to say you HAVE to make them contract that strain. They can get the watered down version, or vice versa. They can be caring for someone with Strain 1 and then develop Strain 2. It's really in your hands.
The event starts now (12:30 am, EST Wednesday March 19th), so by morning characters should start experiencing the first signs of illness. From here on out, you control your character's symptoms and recovery/death. The last day for a character to get infected is going to be next Wednesday, the 26th. The infection period will end at midnight on the 26th. After that, people can still be sick or die, but no one else can contract the disease after that. It's done.
The Malnosso will not be commenting at all during this experiment because they will be observing whether the characters think it is a natural plague or a synthetic one cooked up by the baddies. So they're refraining from teasing everyone this time around.
As usual, character death will mean that you guys have to run a loss by a mod. Do NOT kill your character until you have cleared a loss with a mod. I have had some folks slipping on this lately, and I want to make sure nobody is dying without a penalty. It's just part of the way things work around here. ;3
And I think that's all. I am very tired right now so if this sounds confusing or you need me to answer more questions, please feel free to ask. Forgive me for incoherency at this time. xD;;;
So~, let the event begin!

So, um, considering Albert just got back from being abducted ... would it be all right for people to think he brought back the virus?
And I guess that would be asking for permission for him to contract the virus, too. >_>
Kris-mod
That's fine. Lethal or non-lethal?

...
I'm considering snuffing off one of my characters, though. Would the ability to see colors be a sufficient loss? By which I mean... Once they're revived, they can only see in black & white.

So...now that Norma is dead...is it okay that she can no longer use any magic of sorts? No crystal eres...no filal magic...nothing. If that's not enough...then how about the ability to her legs? Her memories are way too important to lose..D:

*ahem*
Anyway, I intend to have Shinji get the lethal virus....would his Cello be important enough? He and Kaworu make happy times with it and violin.

Haseo's getting nonlethal because I don't have the heart to kill him again with everything else right now.
Lute... on the other hand. >>; He's contracting the lethal, if only for the fact that he's going to be around the most cases of both. Um... he's going to be losing the memory of his sister's smile-- I'm not cruel shut up. ;;

Trucy's going to get the non-lethal strain, since I don't want to kill both of my muses ...

Could he lose his obliviousness??? ¬¬ I can't make him lose his innocence, or optimism...and I've been told that I'll be murdered in my sleep if I made him lose his memories of Eclipse...

laziness-inducednon-lethal and entirely unrelated to this. Go fig.I suppose he could have a relapse? considering he hasn't actually participated in any of the other events up till now, for one reason or another. ._.

For a loss, umm, do memories from towards the end of the game count? Like... a hilarious gap. She'd remember Luceti, and being there, though just not what happened right before she got there, i.e. her plans, the world being reunited and defeating Mithos. So probably around the Origin's seal/before Mithos destroyed the tower arc.
If that's not enough, let me know? ._.;

Hitsugaya will not remember that his zanpakutou encompasses a spiritual being, nor will he remember that the sword has the name, Hyourinmaru, either. Without the acknowledgment of his zanpakutou, Hitsugaya cannot use the specialized forms of shikai and bankai. He thinks the sword is just a sword for regular swordsmanship. He still specializes in ice powers, though not in relation with the swordsmanship. Also, the name 'Hyourinmaru' will still be somewhere in his mind, and he won't understand why he knows the name but not the face.
Feel free to ask for clarification on any part. The loss seems significant enough because Hyourinmaru is practically another part of his soul, and he had been searching for his zanpakutou specifically because a shinigami makes a permanent pact with the spirit, as a partnership in battle and a relationship between a mentee and mentor.
