How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

I'm in another timezone myself, I won't say which one because it'll blow my anon right out. I just have a difficult time approaching mods unanon, sorry guys! I'm a coward.

But Meowzy is actually right here, this is a problem I get (the thread drops happening to me due to timezones). Whilst I have a talkative character, making it easy to pass the AC even if I've been on hiatus, I can understand how excruciatingly difficult this would be for those with the more silent types.

Upping the thread limit to 4 instead of 3 gives a massive amount of leeway for the silent (and villain) characters to pass the AC. It also reduces the pressure applied onto them, and I personally think that sounds very fair. Just keep an eye out for which characters are posting links to 4 threads (for example, if a very talkative character dropped 4 short thread links, it would be suspicious on their behalf). Obviously, it's not your job to know every character and canon, but it might help to be more judgmental of those who post more links than less links. My issue is that I think it should just be 30 comments, not a post or 30, as I mentioned before. If this idea helps the more quiet types, then maybe it's worth considering if enough people feel the same way? Finding a happy medium is important, maybe it might be worth putting up a poll?

Since this AC was just a test round to find a balance with the new AC rules, it's entirely understandable and I can see why it would be more lenient. That's cool, I don't mind! Better to be lenient then have a load of people panicking.

You make valid points, and I'm aware that I have slipped up at times since this version of Kaori is far more open than what the version I usually roleplay, where she's very hostile and far more bitter. The transition between rping the two versions still manages to seep through, where I've accidentally made her more open than she would normally be.

To address her apparent openness and friendliness to Humans, to be honest she actually doesn't trust them. Experience has taught her that it's better to just be friendly while quietly seething inside, since she's more likely to survive that way. The only human she actually trusts right now is Spada, since in her eyes he's proven to be trustworthy enough to keep around, helping her out even though she's blind. Even if they have offered her her favorite things, that like and openness is only temporary, and recedes rather quickly. She could be interested/like someone, but still not trust them.

It's the reason why she has two 'like' levels in her CR chart: diamonds just mean that she's interested in you, but she's still willing to cast you aside and sacrifice you if need be. The only one who has achieved the next tier, the hearts, is Mithos, and she still has conflicting feelings about that because she's afraid to trust. He's bordering between the two levels since a part of her wants to push him away still.

Also, a part of why she tends to be open and friendly sometimes is because she wants to be able to trust them. It's why she's attached to those that met her as a child, since at that time she genuinely loved them and cared for them, and once the experiment was over she was left conflicted, remembering how much she loved humans at one point. It makes a small part of her want to try again, but those trust issues and her history holds her back at the same time.

I appreciate how patient you've been with me in threads and my stumblings of insecurity. (Which may have been your fault--for praising me in things that quite frankly terrify me to do, and I feel like I've been slipping so badly in them.)

Jack's just amazing to watch. Someday I'll actually familiarize myself with his canon. And all of your characters, really, they all have this wacky flow and people just gravitate toward them like iron on magnets. It's beautiful. Such power. All because you know how to have fun, keep it loose, and roll. That amazes me.

Pfff, oh man Digimon Adventure is considered so old at this rate. 1999, woo. BUT I'm glad you enjoy him, because his CR with Jack cracks me up and I'm not even sure how it happened. And just so I don't spam you with comments, I was going to do this earlier but didn't BUT your Jack. Is. Amazing. I'm so pleased with how you handle him, especially since Jack isn't an easy character to play by any means. He cracks me up. Never stop being awesome.
