How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

Okay so it's a not-at-all-guarded-secret but I used to play Tear elsewhere. (Twice!) I am not of the belief that I did a stellar job.

I've only threaded with Fenimore once or twice (most recently with Shiki), and I haven't played Legendia, but I think she's a great character both to thread with and to read (mostly I've read her off of Xion, but details, details.) Sayo, I can't really measure your ICness since I'm not familiar with the series, but you make her an extremely sympathetic and interesting character. With her memory issues, she has a flaw that can easily lead into Sue territory, and you never let it. You handle it wonderfully.

Let me just address Asbel real quick. On the overall, I think you're doing a bang-up job and I love him soooooo much! Like, thiiiiiiiiiiiiisss much. There's one thing that's bugging me though, and I'm not sure if this is me or not, but I get the feeling that on rare occasions, your Asbel is a little too derpy? Like, he's an incredible derp when it comes down to how other people feel about him. Or each other, for that matter. That's very true and you've got that nailed. But I've seen your Asbel get confused about every day stuff and I'm not sure if he ever did that in the game.

I actually can't find an example. I tried backtracking through Asbel's journal, only to come up empty, so I'm not sure where I saw this happen. Probably a thread on someone else's journal, uhm... Well, either way, it's just something to keep in mind and the fact that I can't find it anymore just proves that it doesn't happen often. And as I said, it might be that this happens in the game as well and I just never noticed it.

So yup. That's it. Again, I love your Asbel thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisss much. ♥

Mizuno Ami / Mercury

I've received some criticism that she doesn't seem to be involving herself, though this was shortly before her canon update. Since then, she's in a place to do that more, and I've gotten involved in a few player plots as well as organizations like the DA and offering to be a sub for the school.

I also had some criticism about her icons. I really did go over and over it, and I think these are going to represent her expressions and older appearance best; I did make every effort to find canon icons I was happy with but there just wasn't enough range.

Um, that's all mostly just to say I really have been listening and working on those things. If they're still lacking, let me know. If other things have come up, let me know of course.

Mizuno Ami / Mercury

No crit here, you know I adore Ami and how you play her and I know how much thought and effort you put in her. Personally I think you're doing a great job with brining her out of the shell and getting more involved and active so, yeah...

I only have a suggestion, which may be a bad idea but, whatever I'll drop it here. This comes from threading with you in here and with your other muses, I've come to notice that you seem to flow better in third person narrations for the tags. Then again maybe it's just me but when you write in third person and thus narrate sometimes the character seems to say far more than what the words they say do, even if the character they are interacting with is completely oblivious to it. At least it gives the other mun some insight on the insides of your character and it may make it easier to think of a tag back.

So my idea was why don't you use action brackets a bit more? Of course many may argue that if there's no action being described they are not needed, but with the kind of character that Ami is and knowing how well you are in giving OOC insight of the character to the other mun with just a few words it may help to drive away the impression some seem to get that she's hard to tag with or whatever.

I've always loved Katara, that's no surprise. I don't know why this popped into my head, but I'd love to see some feminism come from her at some point. I know opportunities don't exactly sprout up constantly for this, but defying the convention that said girls could only learn very restricted bending was something she felt strongly enough about to challenge her culture.

There is a reason why Katara knows all three of your boys so well, and that is because I am a greedy, greedy person who enjoys interacting with each one of them so much that I go MUST HAVE MORE.

I will touch upon my canonmate here - I just read his thread with Smellerbee on her journal and dude, it was so lovely. I love how you just described what he was doing and then 'bee picked up on it. I COULD SEE THEM IN MY MIND. It was fantastic.
