Sup guys, this is kind of delayed, my bad. Got a few things to discuss/mention to y'all, so eyes here for five!

1) Friend/Add Remove

The list for this cycle is below:

Copy-pasta HERE to set yourself up. NEW PLAYERS: if your name is not on the add list, you will not be added to the master list! So get your butt over to the Add/Remove post and comment to it. Yes, you! ...Are they gone? GOOD I HATE THAT GUY

2) Recruitment (again)

Many of you are aware of this, but for those unaware and/or new: Luceti occasionally has a special mission draft, aka Recruitment, where characters are voluntold for the war going on outside the barrier. For the amount we send each time, numbers tend to dwindle quite quickly! As such we like to draw attention to it. Like so. |D

To sign your character up for it, the post is HERE.

3) Activity Check

The AC in February was our first time using the new system, and while it went well for the most part, there were a number of complaints, comments, and suggestions that were worth listening to. Namely, the unfairness of the journal versus comment-thread policy. This was a mod-consistency error (I admit my failing in that regard, and I apologize) and we'd like to amend that. So thus, the next AC will have the following addendum:

The 30-comment rule will apply to journal entries as well as threads.

This means that you either need 30 comments on the entry itself, or a combination of entry + 1 or 2 threads to bring you to a minimum of 30 comments. We'll be counting the entry itself as a comment, to be fair to the poster.

Little Leftovers

Just a friendly reminder that if you haven't commented to the following pages or your information is out of date, now is a good time to do it!

- Map and Housing
- Player Contact Post
- Taken Characters

Aaaaand lastly, we're putting an event up this weekend, so. Look forward to it. |Db

Well, it IS every other month (Feb, April, June, August, etc), sometime after the first week and a half of that month, and the allotted time period you cna draw from tends to be from two weeks (at least) from the previous month all the way up to the date the AC is posted. And they do take things like hiatus's and people losing track of time into consideration too (Otherwise, Foot would have been dropped last AC).

What might help some folks is to just make a note of the schedule and just do their best to get something in on those four weeks before AC? I dunno. I tend to be very casual about when I post or tag unless I have an idea in mind, but I figure with as time-unsensitive as I am, if I can make AC...other folks should be able to...^^;

My biggest problem is refinding older threads if I happened to have not done something within the past week when the check goes up--but I figure that's on me to try and save links to thread in my email or something.

And I'm pretty poor at making a note of the schedule. I own that entirely.

I used to have that problem last time around, so I am actually saving my threads to a timeline now (since I seem to be favoring threading over journaling). It's a pain in the ass at first, but it makes referencing a hell of a lot easier.

[identity profile] derek-bliss.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It does, and I should really do that (I've seen a lot of people do that in fact).

My problem, and it's not just in game, is that I literally tend to lose track of calendar time...which means that half the time? Even though I KNOW when all this goes down? I get caught by surprise anyway because, herpderp, I only pay minimal attention to the passing of dates. XD

Hell, I'm in college and I can forget what the date is. I depend on the little scroll thing on the bottom of my computer screen.

But that's really on us, so...

[identity profile] derek-bliss.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly.

...it's real fun when I forget something like, oh, say, my dad's birthday. >.>

(and that's WITH setting my computery things to start telling me two weeks in advance that I need to get a card for him GDI....)

Yes, I'm sad.

As am I, my friend, as am I. 'Cause I've done that, and I have both my parents on my personal journal's flist AND Facebook so I get the notifs twice over.

[identity profile] derek-bliss.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
My poor dad is so used to it, that I think now he just takes it has a matter of fact that I'll call him a few days after the correct date going 'HI DAD I'M SORRY I LOVE YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D?'

Ignore the personal journal

[identity profile] hickumu.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Been there, done that, burnt the cell phone minutes. Better late than never, right?

In my own defense, my father is much the same way with anyone who isn't Mom. I come by it honestly. Mom will always joke that she only required him to remember two dates when they were married. And my birthday was not one of them.

I recommend this to all players...

I've been managing thread links pages for my characters for easy reference, and it has helped me tremendously, especially given the number of entries I've tagged so far this month. Saleh's tagged a bunch of threads (but I haven't counted the number of comments for each thread, though).

Thread Link posts is what I would recommend to everyone.

You mean like a timeline page?

Believe it or not, I'm actually doing one now - I just had it locked to my own viewing for a while as I got caught up. I just didn't the last time I was here. While I haven't had the chance to test its efficacy for anything but my own amusement, I'm hoping it will help this time. Especially since I've had some good threads going.

And it's already saving merry hell on my inbox.

A timeline page...I guess if that's what you want to call it. Here's Jay's (http://unseenspy.livejournal.com/17827.html), to see what I'm talking about.

Yeah, that's exactly it!

I'm not totally caught up on mine, but I think I've got 75 - 80% of my threads down so far.

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a hell of a lot easier to update in this format, too, and easier to tell which months I have thrived and which months I've slumped. Like February was a pretty "slump" month for me...

Whereas I've been so ridiculously busy this March (averaging two new tags a day) that I should probably hiatus to catch up...

And here's Link's! Which... seems to have directly inspired Jay's XD Sweet, I'm organisation inspiration 8D It really is a lifesaver - you just go out and pick whatever threads you need for that time span. Plus, for threads, it is SO much easier to keep track of them like this, and during The Great Notif Crash Of 2011, I could just go through these and see what needed attention.

Partially inspired Giles', as well. You trendsetter, you~.

...I'm so sorry I've been behind tagging you, but school's been a bitch and I'm kind of in over my head, gamewise. But I'll drop you a line tonight.

Go me 8D ...To be fair, that's basically the bare minimum of coding, so XD

And no problem, same here - any time is fine! You know me, I'm happy to backtag into infinity XD
