It ain’t just our 5-year anniversary, it’s also...October! Happy October, folks! We have wonderful October gifts for you! Kinda. Not really. Not unless you really like the gift of zombies. And then there might just be something wrong with you. But wait. Hey, look at that weather page. Does it say TORNADO tomorrow? In MY Luceti?

Here’s the deal. The tornado is going to hit part of the village. It’s not an especially strong tornado. And we mods have ABSOLUTELY no preference for how it’s handled. This is something we’re going to let you guys play with. Will the tornado be stopped by our weather wizards? Is this tornado maybe gonna have a Shift that just makes it more powerful as people mess with it? Will it even hit anything of importance? Here is an idea of its path of destruction:

It will blow in from the west and into the east before being broke up by the mountains. This is a relatively weak tornado that undeterred, will mostly just cause roofs to rattle, knock things over, break windows, pull up water, and basically just cause surface destruction on places that will auto-repair anyway. F1s tend to see winds that range from 73 to 112 MPH. As long as people stay inside, it won’t cause serious harm to them.

The tornado can be stopped, but only temporarily. Think of it as stepping on a hose. You stop the water for awhile, but then it comes out in a powerful burst. If people want to play with that aspect, it could potentially be used to cause the tornado to split off and cause serious damage and harm in places off its designated path. There will be a comment below where you can discuss all tornado-related plans.

Now that Masa’s done playing weatherman, let’s talk about zombies. Halloween is coming up and part of how we’d like to celebrate this spoooooky holiday is with a zombie-themed draft. This means that the horror, mayhem, and gritty violence is something you can opt into by signing your characters up below! Until we release our more detailed timline, here are the more pertinent facts to help you decide who you wanna enlist on this Draft of the Living Dead*:

This draft is (potentially) a long one. It’ll run in full from October 25th to October 31st. However, there will be an opt-into battlefield-evacuation subplot on the 28th. This means that your characters will have the ability to return to Luceti early. The circumstances for the evacuation will be expanded upon in a follow-up post.

The short-form gist is this: Luceti draftees will receive their marching orders on the 25th with only an hour of warning. The draft will be taking place in another enclosure, named Vaskoth. At first, it seems just like any other draft...until people start falling ill. A virus quickly spreads through the battlefield, affecting MSF, draftees, and cultists alike. Infected individuals will show zombie-like symptoms, starting out as fast-paced 28 Days Later-like berserkers until they become more traditional shamblers as the virus runs its course.

Expect things to be flexible! Your character can survive the draft entirely or contract the infection and have to be put down by someone they know and trust. Or they can infect others. Or they can contract the infection only to miraculously benefit from a potentially developed cure come the end of the draft. Hell, your character can help develop the cure! Although this is a zombie draft, when it comes to spoooookiness we want you guys to make your characters’ individual experiences to be as varied as you like.

As with previous drafts, you can sign up on this post. There’s no limit on how many you can send or if you indeed have to send anyone at all. Consider this the ‘opt in’ portion of the draft/event.

A more detailed timeline will go up this weekend once we get a rough idea of the numbers involved.

* Okay okay so it’s a virus. The zombies aren’t really dead until they’re decapitated or dewinged but I wanted a cute name for it.

If this isn’t your cup of tea, we will be having more typical Halloween shenanigans happening in the village around the same time as the draft. Already, you’ll see on the weather page that there’s appropriately spooky mist. But what else is there? Well, we’d like your input. Toss out some ideas for various things you’d like to go down this time around and we’ll pick the good ones and come up with a...melange-a-halloween, if you will. Just bear in mind that the village stuff is intended to be less intense than the draft’s horror. So think fun spooky stuff! You’ll find a suggestion thread below where you can share your ideas.

Going to have to be rewatching the film [REC] for ideas. I don't think I'll have Daisy killed or seriously wounded in this one, since her CR has aready got enough stress from the past days and Keimi's nerves wreck a lot as it is.

Still, it gives me a few ideas for the future. While I haven't planned a lot of Daisy finding out about her world (she doesn't know of the Flood), I'm having the temptation to have her a few nightmares of this mission she gets to shrug off... before she gets the Master Chief's footage.

ANYWAY. I'm thinking of having her go in a mission akin to 343 Guilty Spark in an abandoned installation, seeing almost nobody, before things go to hell and she has to get the hell out of there.

She can either go alone or with a team, but there'll still be so many for them to take on, hence why she's going to need to be extracted.

To be honest, I've got nothing set in stone yet, because I admit I've thought about trying something similar in another game.

I'm kinda terrible and would love to see people's attempts to stop the tornado totally backfire with a Shift on the tornado turning any attempts to stop it making the tornado even stronger.

Of course, this would require a whole lot of agreement, especially for the people with homes/businesses/etc. directly in the way of the tornado.

But yeah, my two cents.

I'll send Kain on the draft and make him get infected! I'm definitely ok with him attacking people as a zombie and having to be put down, if anyone is up for that. /terrible

In the interest of spreading out the broody boys, Vincent will stay in the village.

Mulder will be part of the evacuation thing somehow, so he'll start on the draft and return to the village.

Not sure whether I'll sign up Adell for the draft. Gonna wait and see what other festivities will be up in the village. But if I do send him to the draft I do have an idea.

If I send him, I might infect him. Not to the point of death, mindlessness, or team attacking unless agreed to. But at least enough for him to be violently ill, more vicious and bloodthirsty, and somewhat feral at times. He'll probably be clinging to what's left of his sanity and self by sheer determination before his cure. Potentially, Adell's resistance to the final phase of the infection might give some kind of lead for a science person to help develop a cure.

Those are all big ifs, assuming I send him, but if people are interested I'll definitely take that into consideration.

Both of my characters will be staying off the draft, unfortunately. Good ol' midterms, gotta love em'.

However, Vesperia house (house 12) is right by the tornado's path, so if anyone does want to do something with that, lemme know! I'm only planning on the traditional "house 12's front door is destroyed" thing to go down so far, so if any housemates or anyone who might want to try controlling the tornado/weather around that area has anything they want to plot, I'm definitely open to it /o

Both of my guys will be in the draft, but neither will get infected. Saleh will have to flee from his teammates, so he'll need some other people to team up with.

As far as putting down the infected, Jay will have an easier time with that. He's crossed that line before.

I'm going to be sending Gai here on the draft, and since it's canon for him to do this kind of thing when necessary, I figured I'd offer him up for mercy kills if anyone wanted to zombify their characters! He'd make it quick and painless, not that pain really matters to a zombie. BUT STILL.

Zombies! Who doesn't love zombies? Still on the fence about it but pretty sure Rudy is participating in the draft.

However, he most likely won't be infected ~~unless there's a Thriller flash mob.~~ I don't have the heart to send him on a rampage this soon in his stay. Other than that, I am up for anything! Rudy will do his best to stay alive, protect as many as he can, and... if it comes down to it, put down the infected. Though he might not exactly be the best person to go to, as it's not a decision he'd easily make.

That's basically what I have so far in a nutshell! Let's plot all the things! c:

So probably only sending Leonhardt. Because with a draft like this, Hugo would likely go all crazy demon and want to kill everyone and likely need to be put down if that happens. He'd be rather effective at killing zombies, but just may be too much for me at one time.

Not quite sure what I'm doing with Leonhardt yet. He's going to be stupidly reckless for this because well, Joshua is going home with the AC ending and he doesn't react well to losing people he cares about. Not sure if I'll have him end up infected (going to depend on some things) or just get stupidly injured or killed while saving others or even both, but definitely will have something happen to him and very open to plotting.

So! Plans. Muahahaha~

Almost positive that Mia is being drafted - uninfected, and working on a cure if things get to the point where that happens. I think a fair handful of her close friends are dying in this draft. I am really interested in the development that would come from her (among others) failing to be able to do anything for one or two of them, and the fallout once it's over.

I think Raven will end up going also, but evacuating when the getting is good because this is terrifying. Not sure whether or not she'd get infected, needs moar deetails.

Luke Triton and Nephry are for sure staying around for A Very Luceti Halloween and I hope they enjoy themselves. I'm open to pretty much any plot ever with them. Obviously it'll solidify more once we know more.

(Yeah, I left one out. No idea at all whether Sheena stays or goes yet. If she goes, she won't evacuate. Not her style.)

And then I totally ended this in a bracket and closing small-tag because RP is like that.

Peeta will be sitting out.

I want to send either Archie or Gregor or perhaps both on the draft, depending on what the Halloween event is.

Hijikata here is going on the draft. Considering he's already got something in his blood that makes him not quite human and gives him healing abilities and all that, I'm not sure if he'd be able to be infected, so I'll wait for more info on that point.

Otherwise, he'll definitely be in the "put them out of their misery" camp, since he's got experience with that kind of thing back home.

Zev'll be hiding in his apartment, Ben Grimm will be keeping an eye on things in the village.

Adele will be playing combat medic. So Medically inclined peeps- what are we doing? Who's working on a cure- who's dealing with the infected? I saw that Mia's working on a cure in the middle of all this. Who else is on that?

Caius is going on the draft and he's going to be getting infected, fun stuff! Not sure if I want him eventually being put down or cured yet. What I really want him to be able to do is hurt one of his friends or fellow draftees once he's infected. It would upset and bother him to no end knowing he hurt someone like that, especially since he's gone through something similar with his Leymon blood back home.

Duplica might end up going, if only to try and help distribute a cure if one is found. She'll be running around with her Ditto and staying well away from the virus. If she does go then she'll be backing out on the 28th. Anyone is free to borrow her Ditto once she's gone back to the village, just don't get them zombified. Zombies that can transform into different things would be terrifying.

Yotsuba and Fuuko will be sticking around for tornado and Happy Halloween shenanigans! Yotsuba will likely end up going out in the tornado and getting blown around. THE WEATHER CAN'T STOP HER OKAY. Not sure on what Fuuko might be doing.

Pascal will be doing girly-girl things at a sleepover she was invited to during the time of the tornado, assuming that's still happening. Past the tornado I have nothing for her! SO. LET US PLOT ALL THE THINGS.

Luke Skywalker is getting drafted. This is Luke's first Luceti draft, right before he finishes his first year. I don't think I want him infected, and it'd be hard for him to be anyway, being as strong as he is with the Force makes him largely able to purge disease from himself. I definitely plan for Luke to be running around fighting and doing the Jedi thing. So far I've got a few people I'd like for him to run into, and he may go with Daisy for part of it.

This'll be Luke's first real chance to kinda do the Jedi on the battlefield thing in Luceti and I'd like to have him doing a lot. If you want him, lets plan.

Saori will also be drafted. Also don't think she can even be infected. She may get bitten, but she doesn't have a body that can really be diseased. There's nothing for it to take hold of, as the body is a shell for the spirit.

That said, she'll be participating actively, and she's a very cold, calculating combatant. If someone is infected, there will be no hesitation to remove their head. She'd think twice about a friend, and feel bad but its better than letting them be an abomination. I'm perfectly fine with her getting GENUINELY freaked out by all this by having to fight an infected friend. She'd be horribly bothered by it if she ran into someone who she'd killed later too, which could make for some interesting stuff.

Other than that, she'll be keeping an eye out and trying to keep the zombies away from doctors.

Rei and Susan will be remaining in the village for more lighthearted spookiness. I've been mean enough to them lately. I'm all up for spooky stuff, and a few scares there, but nothing traumatic.

Lets do this thing.

Zelos is pretty much open for anything. I think I'm gonna have him sit out of the draft and have a grand ol' time partying but then again, I can be persuaded for just about anything. I'm always open for CR and plotting. ♥

Doooonuts... uh, I mean brains!

So, I'm tempted to send Vash on this draft and turn him into a zombie and infect people, or if anyone is willing kill someone. Yeah, I love my muse that much. Also please note I am willing to talk about Vash possibly being killed by someone! Pretty much anything really, just let me know what you'd like!

Xzana I haven't decided yet, but if I send her I don't think I'll be infecting her. But if someone is looking for their character to be killed she will have no issues tearing anyone apart in a gory fashion!

At the very least, Clove is going on the draft. She will be available for any zombie-killing needs since... Well, her sense of "conscience" isn't quite as strong as other peoples'. (ETA: I would really like to do this, actually, so if someone has a character who they want infected and want someone to kill, I am definitely up for plotting!)

I haven't decided whether I'm sending my boys yet, so. I'll post later with one of them if I do decide to.

So some loose plans so far, but things are fairly open. General things for all characters: no one's dying, but I am open to any of them being infected. Aang and Troy both could be coming home early.

Troy is definitely going on the draft. It'll be a fun way to utilize his pseudo-combat experience from the paintball episodes, and if it's plausible maybe there's a way that memories of that one Halloween can be triggered. Also it opens the possibility of interviewing a captured zombie on a special edition of Troy and Abed.

Aang is also fairly definitely going on the draft. I'm pretty flexible with him, especially depending on what's going on with his remaining castmates, but I want him to be around for Moro's end. Not sure if he'll be infected, but the horrible part of me wants to have him face the possibility of putting others down. Oh and also he'll be the most likely to be home in times for Halloween (as long as the evacuation thing fits in an IC way) so that Appa will can be dressed as Superman, and Aang may wind up donning the Robin costume again.

And Rock Lee I'm deciding on but starting to lean towards being drafted. The zombie stuff will be a good chance to exploit stuff from the ninja world war, although it will be awkward to have him fighting off the normal zombies. So I'm still on the fence with him.

Although I'm not 100% decided, I am likely sending Ami on the draft. I've been pinging people on this post so far mostly regarding working on a cure for the zombie affects.

That said, it's important to note this version of Ami would be willing to kill the infected if absolutely inevitably necessary, between her canon self being able to make a similar decision and Luceti allowing for people to be revived. It's a way to stop even more people from being hurt, and stop people from doing what they'll regret when they return to themselves. (Granted, she will go to great lengths to avoid this, but it's still an important side note for this type of plot.) I have no concrete plans in that area as of yet.

I'm sending both Souji and Cecil onto the draft. I don't have anything particularly planned for Souji besides really sticking around Hijikata most of the time, but he'll be in the "take 'em out of their misery" camp too. Since YAY KILLING THINGS

Cecil on the other hand will be human for most of the time and won't be fighting so much but... maybe trying to port people out of dangerous situations since he can fly and shit. Though he can't be human all of the time because it drains his energy like woah! So nighttimes yes someone please take care of the cat. Also I'm sending him home early from the draft on the 28th and his birthday is the 31st \o/ yea that's it
