Requiem for Zompania: Draft Details

Notes to keep in mind throughout this draft:
  • If you want to participate in this draft, you must sign up at the announcement post.
  • Communications back to Luceti will be completely impossible; draftees (and later reinforcements) will be able to use their journals to communicate with each other, but the range will be extremely limited to no more than a quarter mile of distance.
  • There will be no power limit set--all characters will be at full power for this draft.
  • No limits will be set on equipment that the draftees bring with them. They will, in fact, be encouraged to bring their own weapons.
  • Enemy units will include: Foot soldiers, Elites, Shifters, Dream Shifters, Shift Hunters (commonly armored) Details on them are on the Nitpicker's Guide.
  • There will be no scanners for this draft until the reinforcements arrive; prior to that cultists must be incapacitated, imprisoned, or killed.
  • Zompania, while smaller in population than Luceti, is a more structurally developed and larger enclosure. Please see the map here
  • The barrier around the enclosure of Zompania will be down the entire time. If you wish your character to suffer from shift afflictions, please feel free to do so. Otherwise, don’t worry about it.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS--ZOMPANIA (DRAFT)

Day 3 (May 22):
At 2:15 AM, the Lucetians are abruptly called into the draft with twenty minutes of warning. The call itself is disorganized and indicates the Malnosso on the other end is embattled and less than calm. The command is given that the Lucetians are needed to bolster the MSF forces under the command of Specialist Davis. Draftees are encouraged to bring any and all equipment from their home worlds.

Forces from Luceti arrive in the battle field at 2:35 AM with the MSF soldiers already fully engaged with a force of cultists, the scope of which is not immediately apparent. The field of battle is pitch dark; the only light comes from sparse floodlights on scattered fortifications and the blinding flares from muzzle flashes, bombs, and rockets. A smoking, blasted city stands on the horizon--Zompania, illuminated only by the the flare of explosions. The ground has been reduced to a thick, slippery soup of mud and blood. There may be some trees left standing on the hills; you’ll find out if you run into one. A persistent, choking haze of smoke and chemicals hides the sky. In many places the fighting has been reduced to ugly, desperate, hand-to-hand combat. The MSF forces are plainly on their way to being completely overwhelmed by what feels like an endless and completely unrelenting force.

The Lucetians are able to fight their way to the heart of the battlefield, which is a scene of carnage. At the last moment they are able to repel--or is the other side just withdrawing?--the cultist forces from Davis’s command post. While some Lucetians may choose to give chase--slopping through the mud of the battlefield as they do--Davis orders a temporary hold so the wounded can be collected quickly and an orderly retreat affected. Davis has already been terribly wounded himself, but is bravely maintaining command.

7:55 AM: Chanting is heard from the far end of the battlefield, carried in the hot wind.

8:05 AM: A single cultist airship is spotted, making way toward the MSF position under full power.

8:09 AM: Davis orders the airship shot down as the retreat continues.

8:13 AM: As the airship plummets toward the ground, safely beyond the MSF position, a spherical object about the size of a car launches from it. Three cultists can be seen clinging to it (bonded to it?) as it begins to fall.

8:14 AM: Davis orders all weapons to be turned on the object. There is no effect; some sort of shield seems to be in use, manipulated by the cultists that fall with it.

8:15 AM: Specialist Davis is heard shouting, “Run! Just r--” The weapon detonates.

You are dead.

* * *

Death isn’t what you expect. There is no choir, no tunnel with a light as one end, no hellish fires, no waiting ancestors.

But there is something. And it is watching you. No, not watching. It peers through flesh and bone and into spirit and does not care what it sees

ancient

alien

hungry

and you begin to unravel, drowning in water--not water, no, blood, no, molten rock, no, the fire at the heart of a sun, no, the collective rotting flesh of everyone who has ever died on this planet, no--and precise fingernails like scalpels excise one long line of muscle (oh, does it feel pain? does it squirm?) from your heart, only--

* * *

Day 1 (May 20):
You are alive.

The draftees from Luceti find themselves standing at the edge of that familiar battlefield, only impossibly, the battle has only just begun. There is still grass, there are still trees, and Zompania stands across the battlefield, safely behind endless ranks of cultists, still in one piece--though judging from the blood that streaks the walls and the cultist airships tethered on the buildings, likely not occupied by friendly forces. The MSF forces are spread out across the hills, squaring off across from an army of cultists far too large to have come from just this city.

The Lucetians will receive an explanatory message from John, as well as their marching orders. (There will be an NPC thread on the log for this.)

For the rest of the day, the draftees must fight their way to Zompania, either by cutting through the main cultist forces--not a very good idea, and not the reason John dropped you where he did--or take the long way around, going behind enemy lines to reach the city. Either way, combat is guaranteed, though behind the enemy lines the combat must be much quieter. How the draftees will accomplish this is largely up to them. Small parties? Sending scouts ahead? Organized march? (Well, that last one might draw a little too much attention...)

Even if a small party of Lucetians is noticed, they are largely ignored by the cultists, who seem to be operating under a very definite battle plan. Either that, or the small force of draftees against the might of this army just don’t seem like that much of a threat.

The day ends with the Lucetians arriving at Zompania, which has been heavily fortified by the cultist forces. No way through it immediately apparent; it’s much more heavily guarded than might make sense, considering the MSF forces are still relatively far away. As the sun sinks below the horizon, people can be heard behind the wall, an endless cacophony of voices, begging, pleading, screaming in agony, then abruptly cut off.

And you still haven’t found a way inside.

Day 2 (May 21):
The disturbing sounds of death and pain from inside Zompania continue through the night and end, just as abruptly, five minutes before sunrise. The daylight hours are spent by the draftees trying to find a way past the cultist defenses and into the city proper. Whether the draftees stay together as a whole or split into small parties, scouting is required and minor skirmishes occur that are, by necessity, short and brutal.

Shortly before sunset, one or more ways into the city are discovered. (A break in the lines? A secret passage? A sewer outlet? Pick your way and find it!) Despite the forces that surround it, the city proper is all but deserted, silent but for the continual sounds of combat in the distance. As the draftees move further into Zompania as the sun begins to set, bodies--men, women, children, nonsapiens--are discovered, lining the streets in neat rows, sometimes stacked two to three deep and leaving only a narrow path that will only allow people to walk by in single file. There are far too many to have come from just Zompania. And indeed, if someone isn’t too squeamish to search the bodies, they’ll find proof that it’s a mix of residents from Zompania, Quell, and Pagoda.

Approaching the city center, the silent ranks of corpses give way to living and very determined cultists. Street to street and building to building fighting is required, and no cultist can be allowed to escape and warn the lines still surrounding Zompania. In the city’s central square, eerily reminiscent of that in Luceti, the statue that once occupied the space has been pulled down and replaced with an altar, now caked with so much blood that the smell renders the air nearly impossible to breathe. It takes no imagination to consider what happened here.

There is no time for rest as the sun begins to set; the bomb will be completed and then dropped on the MSF forces the next morning, and Lucetians have no inkling where it might be.

Day 3 (May 22):
While the Lucetians must continue to fight to hold the ground they have established on day 2, the bomb must be found before dawn. A change in tactics is required, forces split so some can continue to keep the streets clear and the draftees undiscovered, while others engage in a desperate search for the bomb, and some might even have the bright idea to begin disabling the cultist airships docked at the city. So long as the draftees have significantly disrupted the cultist forces in the city by 7:00 AM on day 3, that will at least delay the launch of the bomb long enough for it to be found.

There are several different tactics that can work to locate the bomb and the scientists depending upon how the draftees decide to focus their efforts:
  1. Just search really hard and hope (not recommended)
  2. Capture cultists and extract the information
  3. Find a functioning computer, hack into the city archives to find the original plans, and discover what space has been missing from the search.
  4. Wait until the bomb is being brought of of hiding to be loaded into the airship, defeat the shifts protecting it in a pitched battle, and then take possession there (VERY not recommended)
  5. Your suggestion here.

However it is accomplished, the bomb is found hidden in the sub-basement of Zompania’s school, hidden by Shifters. A small team (10-12) of infiltrators will need to be sent in while everyone else holds the cultists outside at bay. Things to consider for the team:
  • You need some people who are good at fighting
  • You need some people who can manage to disarm a bomb without peeing themselves
  • At least one person who is good with technology and able to read schematics designed by possibly insane cultists (good luck with that)

We’ll provide a thread where people interested in being on this infiltration team can sign up. If more than 12 sign up we’ll employ the RNG to pare down the numbers. The infiltration team can make up their own thread on the log, can make a separate log, whatever you want. Just don’t let the bomb blow up, mmmkay?

Sign ups for the infiltration team closed at 11:59 PM EST on May 19th. Results are:

Thor Odinson
Zuko
Fayt Leingod
Silver
Naru Shikamaru
Rudy Roughnight
Elizabeth
Robert Lutece
Levi
James T. Kirk
Sam Yao
Itachi Uchiha

To get to the bomb and disarm it, the team of infiltrators must:
  1. Disable the shield that is around the bomb. The power for the shield is being diverted from Zompania’s barrier.
  2. The bomb is heavily guarded by Shifters and Foot Soldiers, all of whom must be disabled or killed.
  3. Deal with the five cultist “scientists” in the sub-basement, who are integrating the power source they crafted at the altar, using all of those sacrifices. There are several books with them, which contain all of their research. Just stopping the scientists will basically save the day, but you really don’t want to leave what is effectively a nuclear bomb powered by souls just lying around, do you? Of course you don’t.
  4. Disarm/destroy the bomb. How will you do it? Read the schematics? Make the scientists do it? Watch out, one of them might trigger the self-destruct mechanism...

It is ultimately up to the draftees to decide what to do with the bomb, the scientists, and the information they hold. But if they succeed, this changes the course of history. The bomb is not dropped.

At 3:57 PM, the draftees receive a broadcast message from Specialist Davis, letting them know just how grim the outlook has become. The MSF forces have been effectively routed, and Davis himself...well, it doesn’t look good. (There will be an NPC thread for this on the log)

And with that, the Lucetians are effectively on their own until reinforcements arrive. The draftees must:
  • Decide what to do with the captured bomb/research/scientists if they have not already.
  • Fortify their position and prepare for a siege or decide to break into groups and remain on the run, hopefully not running out of defensible hiding places before help arrives.
  • Continue to defend against Third Party forces until rescue comes late in day 6.

Most of the buildings in Zompania are still serviceable, so the Lucetians can pick one or two that they think the most defensible and ready themselves for a siege, or keep moving among the buildings and hiding. Supplies are perhaps surprisingly plentiful if people go to find them; any fresh food has long since spoiled, but canned food and medical supplies aren’t at all difficult to acquire. Most residences in the city are almost untouched except for the occasional overturned chair and bloodstain on the carpet.

Day 4-6 (May 23-25):
The cultists, now knowing that their plans have gone awry--though thankfully Davis’s sacrifice has bought the draftees some time to dig in--turn their attention to the city in truth. The Lucetians must simply survive and try to hold their position while they wait for reinforcements that may never come. The influx of cultist soldiers is unsteady, with MSF forces still out on the battlefield to act as a distraction, but when attacks come they are swift and merciless. Fighting can occur in the streets as the draftees try to form a blockade and keep the cultists from approaching the building(s) they’ve claimed, or can be in far closer quarters as cultists break through windows or use shifts to make their way inside.

Starting late on day 4, reinforcements from Luceti will arrive by means of parajump out of spaceships. Hopefully most of them land near Zompania, but that’s up to you. These extra forces will help secure the city and bolster the defenses against the continued cultist assault. This will not, however, provide enough force to allow for a protected retreat or any sort of real assault on the cultists. The best bet is still to hunker down and defend.

As day 6 draws to a close and the cultists begin a particularly overwhelming offensive, one that would be intimidating even without six days of exhaustion, iffy supplies, and trauma working against the draftees.

That’s when the cavalry arrives.

The cavalry is a literal spaceship, reminiscent of the White Star (from Babylon 5), though significantly smaller. The name painted on the side of the spaceship identifies her as the Revenge, and she makes short work bombarding the encroaching cultist forces and providing the draftees the breathing room they desperately need.

In the distance, a few more MSF spaceships, though smaller still than the Revenge are visible strafing the battlefield. MSF forces can be seen arriving, though in far more conventional transports. The cultists are forced into retreat and the battle, while not decisive, is at least no longer a loss.

Just be careful until the Revenge lands and the Commandant invites the draftees on board. There are still cultists out there, and few of them have admitted they’ve lost.

Day 7 (May 26):
After being debriefed rather haphazardly by MSF personnel, the draftees are fed a decent meal (but no showers for you, sorry) the draftees and the reinforcements she has brought with her from the village are returned to Luceti at an unholy hour of the morning.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS--LUCETI (REINFORCEMENTS)

For people in Luceti on day 3-6 (May 22-25):
Day 3 (May 22):
At 8:15 AM there is a brief but very noticeable barrier glitch, and what feels like a minor earthquake, knocking dishes and books off shelves, shattering glass unicorn figures, that sort of thing. All of the clocks stop for ten seconds, then jump forward to the correct time. Minor time effects occur to citizens in Luceti, where time slips and people will jump forward to where they would have been in 10 seconds...without ever having lived those 10 seconds. (Think: A CD skipping and you missed 10 seconds of the music.)

Throughout Days 3-6 (May 22-25):
Without so much as a by-your-leave from the MSF, Luceti becomes a medevac area for the MSF; healers and volunteers needed. The wounds make it apparent that the fighting is going very, very badly. By evening on day 3, the MSF forces and draftees from other enclosures evacuated to Luceti will know that Specialist Davis has been killed by the cultists. None have seen nor heard from the draftees from Luceti, though there is a rumor that they’ve tried to retake the city of Zompania from the cultists. The consensus is that is a very bad, nigh crazy move, and they will not survive more than a day or two if that’s really what has happened.

Days 4-6 (May 23-25):
Early on day 4, the Commandant will address the village and let them know that she has taken over operations in Zompania. She is seeking volunteers for reinforcements to join in with her troops and enter the fight on the battlefield within the hour. Non-combatants are also encouraged to volunteer; those with tech skills can help crew the Commandant’s ships, while others can gather food and supplies, help with medevac for the wounded, and so on. All volunteers are welcomed and offered appropriate jobs. (There will be a post by the Commandant for this purpose.)

Late on day 4, the reinforcements will be brought to the battlefield. This is what truly helps turn the tide of battle, with the Commandant’s forces and the volunteers bolstering the ragged MSF lines. Zompania is visible in the distance, a bloody, smoking wreck--maybe your friends are still alive in there.

Volunteers may choose to:
  1. Be dropped off at or near Zompania via parajump--it’s up to you how close you’ll land. From there they’ll be able to fight their way through to join with the original draftees to help hold the line until the main bulk of the MSF forces arrive to break the siege.
  2. Non-combatants can choose to stay with the MSF forces and be out of the direct fighting.

Fighting continues until day 6, when the Third Party forces are finally forced into retreat and the MSF forces reach Zompania.

Day 7 (May 26):
At an unholy hour on the morning, the draftees and reinforcements are returned by the Commandant. As you can imagine, the draftees all smell terrible--and many may still require medical attention.

Map of Zompania

Click on the image for the large size version!

Details/Key:
A = apartment buildings
T = watch towers, some established and some set up for the battle; these are the sources of the floodlights near the city
B = barricades
D = Zompania's battledome-like structure
P = a local town park, mostly deserted
S = shops and stores
H = hideout/blind spot/"safe zone" (safety not actually guaranteed)
W = weapon storage
Yellow Star = Altar
Red Star = School buildings

The yellow paths are the most accessible routes into the city for draftees, but they'll also be the most heavily guarded by the Third Party and therefore the most dangerous. The river has been choked off by the enemy and the water redirected to the fields surrounding town to make it harder (ie. muddy) for those on foot to move around. Parts of the city are protected by walls, but they're not in great shape. Third Party patrols are everywhere.

Asbel is going on the initial draft, so he'll get to die and un-die and it'll be swell. He'll be practically glued to Richard who's running around the battlefield partially blind so he needs Asbel to be his seeing-eye knight. He's going to focus his efforts on keeping Richard safe and fighting off the shifters in the city itself. Dying, oddly enough, is not going to be that strange to Asbel. He did already die and get revived in canon, after all, and going through whatever's about to happen in those moments of death isn't entirely foreign to him...

Gold is coming with the reinforcements, and the first thing he's going to do is jump off that ship and fly straight to where Silver's at and cause a fuckton of destruction. Don't be concerned if you hear a loud explosion go off in one of the city sectors, that's just Gold on Togetaro making a meteor impact and leveling part of it. No biggie.

Haru's also going to be on the reinforcements, and he'll be hacking and slashing his way through with the best of them. And he'll probably get hurt a lot and not really care because his stamina and endurance is just absolutely ridiculous.

Plots with Vil

SO in the first round I have:

Mia who will divide her time as she can between healing and fighting. She prefers to fight defensively when she can, and it doesn't seem like she can this time. HOWEVER I AM UP DOWN ALL AROUND for any character who needs fast heals or an energy boost. There's so much going down that's going to freak her out, particularly the altar and the streets lined with bodies, and I am on the lookout for someone or a couple someones who want to thread the encounter moment(s) (situation permitting!). Mia can and will drain herself dry for the sake of keeping people alive on this draft - hopefully in the day 3-4 span they'll have enough supplies that she and others won't have to! - and will force herself through whatever else in the village when they return.

and

Raven who will leave Kyle at home with either Ikki or Leon, and then take up her sword and pretty much not give a damn what happens to her in the first day before the bomb. She simply does not care. Dying will, maybe, shock her enough that she starts to care a bit, but equally it might throw her right back into charging ahead into fights - with a purpose, this time. She can care a whole lot about other people not dying again. She's also really really scared of death-related things (skulls, ghosts, freaky haunted-houselike situations) so...that'll go well for her...this time... and I am in the market for her getting into some more serious trouble near the draft end, such that she comes back to Luceti still in trouble. More thoughts, more thoughts.

and coming in for reinforcement

Sheena on a parachute doing her ninja best to dive in and kick butt and take names - or information. She's quick and deadly enough to sidle in and listen to anything of import if people are talking and then dispose of them. She would love a partner in this sort of venture.

The others (Nephry, Luke, Rue) are staying behind in the village. Nephry will offer her hands to the medevac situation and she's good at keeping calm and chilling other people out; Luke and Rue might just go ask what they can do to help and get job assignments.

HA yes let's plot I love feeling so enthused about this!

wise_maiden: (the river goes on and on)

Raine Sage

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2014-05-18 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
- As I offer on most drafts, with the power cap being nonexistent Raine's able to use her magic more effectively. If anyone wants to "die" (as long as it's not like, something that would effectively put your character beyond -10 on a dnd scale, no stabbing through the heart or things like that or being vaporized beyond recognition - oh wait) and be returned to life instead of left for dead, Raine's available for that. Also open for regular healing as well. She's going to be sent out in the first wave, so there will be plenty of opportunities.

Granted I'd like to find a way to work some kind of injury/rescue in there on her end too, and whether or not she'd be involved on some level with bomb recovery things or if she'd get separated from it is pretty up in the air. LOTS OF UP IN THE AIR THINGS i am just craving meaningful threads and aftermath and make sure that she fills her usefulness quota YEAH

Come plot, come plot away!

I know that Obi-Wan is going to be dying toward the end of the draft, probably day 6. Luke and Steve Rogers are gonna be there. Other than that, this boy's wide open for anything.

Cliff

[personal profile] aerialassault 2014-05-18 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Overall, I don't have many things spoken for as yet during this draft, so plotting is still pretty open. Cliff will be out there in the fray with the first wave of the draftees, fighting his way through the bad guys with nothing held back. His primary focus will be on keeping his CR safe-- and, he's a very big, very noticeable guy whose gonna be bothered about non-combatants being sent out to this place. Feel free to hide behind him if you think it's necessary. ;)

After the bomb hits, he's gonna be pissed. The jokes will be gone, folks, and I do have him signed up to potentially look for the bomb.

Otherwise, I'm open to having him rescue people from Dream Shifters or any other mess that you can think of.

The only thing I really have planned is that he dies protecting Fayt toward the latter part of the battle. There will be more on that elsewhere...

Fenimore

[personal profile] blessingone 2014-05-18 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Fenimore will be keeping the home fries burning, which is to say she'll be volunteering at the medevac centre. She's not a healer, but she's got experience in triage and she took a course in battlefield medicine when that was offered...quite a while ago. She's also going to be looking after Ikki after Avatarcrew roll out when she's not volunteering, so while she'll be less exhausted than the draftees by the end of it, she's going to be pretty darn tired herself. (But glad to not be out there.)

All the plottings!

Zuko will be in the first wave and will likely be staying close to Iroh as much as possible and looking out for Wan as well. Still, he's wide open for plotting with pretty much anyone. His firebending is likely to come in handy.

Lugia will be in the first wave as well and since he's a huge flying Pokemon, he can carry people around in the air if needed. Plotting is very open for him! He's got powerful attacks but he will be quite shell shocked with what is going on. Unfortunately he's quite big and might very well be a big target. You can fight with him, protect him, whatever you like!

B'Elanna Torres will be in the reinforcements and will be staying on the ships since she's an engineer first and foremost. So she will be helping out there.

Wan Shi Tong will be staying back in Luceti and will likely not be involved in anything if he can help it.

Semi-Placeholder?? I don't really have any set plans for either of them yet.

Natalia is going to be part of the first wave and she'll be balancing between healing and attacking as best as she possibly could. She'll be in a group with some cast mates at one point but she's completely open otherwise.

Ash is well... he's currently also signed up to be part of the first wave oops?? Although I'm bouncing just a little between keeping him there or being logical and keeping him in the village because he's a kid but unless there are people back in the village who really wants to plot with him since I already have small plans for him in the first wave I'll likely be keeping him there. That said much like Natalia he's pretty much open to anything! And since he's a kid anyone is more than welcome to have protective instincts kick in. Or something. idk.

Thor will be drafted and clearing as much ground as humanly possible, providing aerial support and holding the line wherever he's needed. He'll be dying sometime on Day 3, but before that will be brawling like a proper Asgardian.

Zevran Will likely be coming up with the reinforcements and trying to find what the hell is going on, and covering as much ground as he can to find the people he cares about that have been drafted, or just find answers by shaking some cultists.

Ginia will be drafted in with the first phase. There are tentative plans for her to get badly injured and saved by Deadpool prior to the bomb going off.

-Will be bringing a handgun with her and sharing ammo/guns with MSF forces and anyone else. Also carrying a combat knife and a machete for close-range. If she can get her hands on a rifle, she'll be sniping. Largely prefers mid/long-range combat with guns, but when ammo is scarce she'll be teaming up for ambushes and hit-and-run tactics.

-Will be scavenging buildings (and bodies) for supplies, so if anyone needs a supply runner, here you go!

She has some small things plotted with her CR (like capturing and torturing people for information), but open to all ideas!

Would also love to plot out post-draft threads, particularly ones for working through trauma and talking about the draft.

This guy's going in with the first wave, so what we have so far plotwise is... marrying Gai and Elizabeth in a shotgun wedding. With actual shotguns present probably.

He's signed up for the infiltration team and if he's accepted, I'd love to do things there too.

In other words, COME AT ME.

holy shit this draft

Silver's getting drafted into the first wave! He'll rotate out his Pokémon so none of them ever get too exhausted pretty much through the whole draft, but their strategies will very quickly switch from "we'll incapacitate people so they can't hurt anyone anymore" before death to "I am literally snapping the head and wings off of every enemy I see" after death. Very brutal. No mercy. Gotta stop that bomb. Boy's gonna need someone to help him calm the fuck down after the draft.

But until then he'll be a valuable asset with a trio of murderbeasts and will try to help out wherever he can and work himself to the bone! I kind of want to get him hurt but not killed and have to deal with something after the draft but I'm still working out those deets BUT HEY I'D LOVE TO DO THINGS WITH PEOPLE. YES. GOD THIS DRAFT. HELL YES.

He'll be drafted in the first wave...aaaaaand he'll also be at a pretty big disadvantage until the fighting breaks into the city, because no whooshing around all baller on flat terrain, sadly. So he'll definitely need some help with not dying there, please and thank you. Will be more in his element in the city, and team-ups would be cool!

Don't have any specific plans, but some kind of rescue situation would be fun. Let Jean help your character out in a dire situation, or vice versa? (Or both, at different points in the fight, why not!)

Come at me, brosis.

Loki

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2014-05-18 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Two things will be happening for certain:

Loki will be facing a dream shifter that looks like Frigga--This will be sometime either late day 3 or very early day 4. Billy will ultimately be the one talking him in to killing the shifter (oh god) because there really isn't anyone else who can manage it. So if someone wants to encounter him when he is completely shell shocked after, this can be arranged. It just has to happen before thing number two, which will be--

Loki will be getting killed mid-day 4 shortly before the arrival of the reinforcements. He will already be fairly badly wounded before that, from throwing himself into battle after the shock of dealing with the dream shifter. And he'll be getting taken out, of all things, while trying to save Jack and Eugene. Because FEELS.

Isaac and Mac

[personal profile] relictusdeus 2014-05-18 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
someone set up us the bomb

Fighting's like breathing for ex-general Isaac, and what a breath of fresh air this'll be for him. He'll feel right at home and completely and utterly free to be as sadistic and unrepentant as he is without having to consider the consequences of it. One can expect to see his devil battle-buddies (which WON'T hurt fellow draftees unless they are hostile towards Isaac) being swapped around, each having the chance to jump into the fray with him and rest. Should the situation call for it, he's also prepared to use stealth. Demonic energy will be rolling off him in strong waves so anyone sensitive to it can totally pick up on it. Speaking of picking up on things, just got the mod-nod for Isaac sensing the concentration of souls in the area, and using his power to help stabilize the bomb if he makes it on the infiltration team.

I signed Isaac up for the infiltration plot and he'd be more than a little keen to squeeze information out of cultists -- that being something he's very used to doing back home. Isaac doesn't care about the people of Luceti; he'd just love to get back at these bomb-dropping arses because if he's gonna die it'll be on his terms, not theirs. And since being revived puts him in a position to try and do something about it, he's for it.

Little Mac is drafted too, and a great deal less accustomed to this. He'll get to see his friends hurt and be hurt before a pack of shift hunters wound him badly enough to force him to lay low and recover for a few days. He's especially open for plotting -- and if someone could distract him a little (or a lot!) from the horrors of mass-murder all around, he'd be very grateful. Terrible as it is, I like the idea of him trying to save someone from a pack of shift hunters, piggybacking someone to safety as best he can when they're both wounded, and the person dying on him. :/

If someone was thinking about killing off their character, maybe we can work something out. Or figure out a happier ending? Hm, I could even have him mallynapped before the draft, come back not knowing what's different and then hulk out Giga-Mac style whenever he feels threatened. :V Which would be... a lot of the time.

But YES. This'll be great.

Pilouette

[personal profile] ribbonbon 2014-05-18 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Pils is getting drafted in that first wave and...is deffo going to be seriously freaked out, especially after the first death and time warp. She's only been on one previous draft and it wasn't quite as bad as this one. She's a noncombatant, but she's gotten better at first aid and will be loaded up with basic medical supplies (bandages, antiseptic, splint, basic pankillers, etc). She can treat minor wounds so if anyone wants to do something with that, I'd be up for it.

On late day 4 or mid day 5, Pilouette is going to die. Some kind of strong enemy attack will cause some debris to fall and strike her on the head, killing her instantly. Anyone is free to handwave witnessing her death/finding her or taking any of the stuff she has on her. She will have a unique first aid kit she was given and if anyone wants their character to grab that up for supplies, I'd be all for it. I would like her to get that back later on, so if anyone takes it, she'll probably make a post asking for it back once the draft is over and she's revived.

Vash - Will be arriving with the reinforcements. He won't be killing any cultists and like usual if he can without anyone getting killed he'll be trying to stop other from killing them. Instead handing out markers or knocking them out cold. He will be on the move once on the battlefield pretty much non-stop and rather deadly serious for a guy who doesn't kill. If you want Vash to stop your character from killing someone please let me know. As I won't be directly going for this as I tag around on the drag itself.

:) If I know that is what you'd like then I can tag in with that in mind!

Xzana - My OC will be going in with the first wave. Feeling the bomb and all that good stuff. She isn't exactly good at fighting with a team, but will be willing to listen to simple order if instructed. (And she doesn't find them to be suicidal.) She'll be spending most of the fighting in full dragon form like this:

So nice big target, but a target that has scales like a shield so a lot of bladed attacks will bounce off her. She will be doing her best to chew up the cultists and spit them out again. RIGHT after the blast she'll be in a bit of blood lust mode to kill ALL the things so you may want to avoid her teeth area then...

Walter will be my only guy for the main part of the draft, and he's already no stranger to death -- so while he'll be disturbed by the images and feelings of that death, he'll bounce back from it pretty well. ...Maybe even surprisingly well, under the circumstances. He'll be more willing to be a team player and even shout at people to help out, given what's at stake, and having come out of the boot camp with the MSF, he'll fight with more than his fists and eres for once.

Albert and Leon will be coming in with the reinforcements. Despite the hazards, Albert's going to join the front lines, but will stay out of the main fray as much as he can after parachuting in so he can help with organizing and keeping track of people on the ground. Leon is pretty much a well-realized magic fighter at this point, casting spells and handling a sword with a good degree of skill. He's volunteering to look for people he knows were sent out there (because otherwise he's helping out in the village and his skills aren't in the healing/medical department), so he'll be out and searching for CR.

So, my initial draft people will consist of Jade, Rock Lee and Kurt!

Jade will be in his element and will likely be especially driven after experiencing the bomb. He'll command anyone who will take orders from him, and if anyone needs a push - even a harsh one - to keep going, Jade can help with that, too. He'll be certain to surround himself with close-range fighters who can keep enemies away from him while he prepares his artes.

Rock Lee will be a loyal follower of anyone who will order him around. He'll be showing off his impressive strength and speed in battle, and he will likely accumulate a number of injuries. Undecided so far if I'll have him get anything near-crippling. But he will open some of the Gates which are his way of pushing his body past his limits. Lots of ninja things. Also, open to the idea of exposing him to a Dream Shifter if anyone wants to talk him through it (it may take on the shape of Maito Gai or Rapunzel).

Kurt Wagner will likely be very handy due to his teleporting powers, which have a two-mile radius. He'll be fighting with his new swords, but he has never killed before and will be facing that dilemma in this draft if anyone wants to play a part with that.

And Aang will be parachuting gliding on in with the reinforcements! It'll be easy for him to cover a lot of ground quickly with his abilities, and he'll be fighting using non-fatal tactics. He'll be eager to seek out all of his friends. And he may or may not wind up using a controlled Avatar State?

So yeah. Pretty much everyone will be available for hijinks while Mytho will be doing what he's told around the village. Also, just a general note that I am very down for volunteering any of my characters for pulling others out of dream shifters. Most of my characters can give the sensitive approach, while Jade will use more tough love tactics. Also seeing if anyone is interested in saving Lee from a dream shifter!
voidseeing: (Ready steady go)

Gai, Richard and Shuda

[personal profile] voidseeing 2014-05-18 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Gai is being drafted in the first wave. Given that he's already died twice in canon, it probably won't bother him all that much... but the fact that Elizabeth is there too will. He's going to be the most protective fiance EVER and won't let her out of his sight. The ruthless soldier side of him will be coming into play during all of this, and he'll be killing anything and everything without hesitation. Weapon-wise, he'll be bringing his Luger, a multitude of knives, and an MP7 (if he can get his hands on one), but his primary fighting will be done with his Void due to the fact that it doesn't require ammo. (The fact that he dies if it breaks is just a minor detail, really.)

I signed Gai up for the infiltration group, but either way, once they're tasked with finding the bomb, he's going to want to try to step up and take some sort of leadership role in organizing the search, so if anyone wants to do anything with that I am game!

Richard is also arriving in the first group and will be glued to Asbel's side due to being nearly blind as a result of his pact with Twila. Since he can't see, he'll be reliant on Asbel and others to tell him where to target his spells, which would a great way to get some CR going if anyone is interested in that. He'll be very shaken by all of this but doing his best to hide it. Eventually I'm assuming that he'll find Isamu, who is in the reinforcements, and then attach himself to Isamu as well.

Shuda will be reinforcements, and his primary objective will be playing silent bodyguard to Haru because Haru is stupid and doesn't know his own limits. He'll also be enjoying the fact that his Dark Bring is now at full power, which means explosions. EVERYWHERE. Need a bunch of cultists immobilized and then detonated? Shuda can do that.

Aside from that, I'm open to anything! Oh yeah, and Emil and Jack will both be around the village doing whatever they can to help, so I'm up for village shenanigans with them.

Ion is going on the first wave and will be fairly quiet at first as he deals with a good amount of trauma left over from the last time he was sent on a draft. This will pretty much go on until everyone dies, where he'll have to buckle-down and get serious if he hopes to help everyone prevent the bomb from getting dropped. His fonic artes are powerful and can easily knock out your average cultist, but he can't use them freely without putting his own health at risk, so he'll be best serving as back-up behind a group of fighters if they need it or as a mystic arte extension for Luke.

When things start getting really bloody, he'll be doing his best to put on an act that he isn't as bothered by it all as he is. But by Day 3, he'll become quiet again and probably won't talk much unless the situation calls for it. He'll still be able to fight if needed, but he'll get pretty close to fainting whenever he uses his artes. This will get even worse as time wears on, and by days 5-6 he won't be able to safely use artes at all.

I'm still thinking about possible seriously injuring him, but all I have so far is I'm not gonna kill him you know more than the one time. Maybe something that would still be long-term, injury-wise? I'm also interested in Ion having an opportunity for him to be a hero and save people, since he's usually always the one being saved/protected.

Kari is going along as reinforcements as Hoshikyo, but won't be herself for a good chunk of the fighting -- at a certain point, the spirit living in her pendent is going to take advantage of the lack of a barrier to take over, and will basically be killing everything and anyone who it perceives as a threat, regardless of what side they're on. For the most part this will just be the third party, but should anyone decide to step in on her rather sadistic methods of killing everything, they might find themselves becoming a target, too.

I don't have any plans to have her killed, but I do plan on having her pretty severely wounded at some point, which would break the spirits hold on her and revert her back to Kari. So if anyone would be interested in fighting alongside a crazy spirit or learning about her true identity as Kari now would be a good time!

Krillin is going in during wave one. And in traditional Dragonball Z fashion, he is going to be a very loud presence of the battlefield. In a lot of ways, he's kind of ill-suited for this kind of thing because it's not a one-on-one martial arts fight, so at first he'll be a little confused/confounded and unwilling to do too much beyond incapacitating cultists. However once the bomb goes off and he experiences his freakiest by far death, he's going to abandon playing nice.

Saori is also going during wave one. A heavy storm cloud is going to be following her throughout the fighting, right up to the point where the bomb goes off. When this happens and she resurrects, she's going to be bothered. A lot. Death is one of her greatest fears, after all. Post-death threads will probably have her being much more protective of people, as she'd rather not see anyone else die if she can.

Luke Skywalker is going in with the reinforcements. He'll be pretty pleased to go in on a spaceship even if it's a bad situation and may be a bit more excitable than others because he hasn't gotten to fly in a while. And once he jumps in, and sees Obi-Wan get killed again his emotions are going to flip. I'd very much like for Luke to accrue a few Dark Side points during this draft.

Sailor Mars is a little less gung-ho about being in the reinforcements, but with so much of her CR drafted I can't really think of any excuse for her not to go. As such, Mars will be fighting evil by moonlight and be silently happy that the love she's won by daylight isn't involved in the fighting. Mars is going to get injured during the fighting and need aid, so possible threads there. Also I'd like for her to go full shojo heroine and rescue some people before bounding away to help other people.
