So. We have this event. An experiment, really. Something for you folks to have a little fun with. It's mildly plotty, but only because an NPC post will accompany it. Mostly it's just good old fashioned fun. We're going to call it something like, oh...

THE EVENT THAT TAKES PLACE IN JULY BUT ALSO KINDA IN AUGUST TOO
(From July 30th to August 4th)

Yes. That's a little late. But word on the street is, a bunch of folks are headed off to some convention where instead of pretending to be fictional characters, they plan to just dress like them instead. So we'll have the event a smidge later than usual. but that's okay. Because smidges are tiny and innocuous.

Now let me give you a rundown of the event. For this even, we're going a little topsy turvy. A bit too much Wonderland. Everything is odd and most things are not what they seem. Lemme throw some examples at you!

Sometimes doors lead to the wrong place! You walk out your bedroom door, suddenly you're in your neighbor's kitchen. You finish taking a shower and while wrapped in a towel, you walk out the bathroom and end up in the middle of the beach with nothing left to do but take a long hike back home. To add to the wackiness of the experiment, you might enter a room, but everything is upside down! Or, so it seems. In fact, you're just walking on the ceiling. Even though your housemate isn't. Or maybe you'll exit out a door that's smaller than it should be and now you're only a few inches tall! Time to find a new door to get out with!
(For you cheats out there, sometimes windows won't be much better! If you climb out of them, you'll end up in some random place, five feet off the ground.)

During the day, the sun will be shining despite the sky being black and dotted with stars. At night, the moon will shine brightly in a blue cloudy sky. On the 30th, when we have rain, the water will rise from the ground and back into the sky. Bursts of wind will sometimes come out of nowhere, including from under your very feet.

Usually when the animals talk, they have only simplistic animal-brained sorts of things to communicate, like being hungry or being freaked out by seeing humans. Well, if you happen to run into the wildlife, you might find animals having long conversations... about equally uninteresting things. The animals will have boring conversations with idle chit chat about the weather, their families, mating seasons, and so on. The trees, on the other hand, have something more interesting to talk about. As a matter of fact, the trees will be passing on the latest juicy gossip! Some of it will be true, some it won't be.
(Note: We'll have a thread where people can volunteer two TRUTHS and two LIES about their characters that the trees can spread around that anyone will be able to overhear.)

Possessions are downright wacky. The clothing store is now populated with winter gear, the smithy stocks only plastic weapons, and the item store is stocked to the brim with wacky prank items. The other stores can be as equally wacky, based on whatever their owners come up with. Even food in the grocery will seem strange. That apple you just bit sure does taste like beef jerky.

Unstable geography! A walk to the plaza is pretty hard when the path reacts like a trampoline. Also, you ever been on the couch relaxing and needing to go the kitchen and then the child in you realizes something: the floor is lava! Well now, it actually is! While the lava won't kill you or even leave burns, it's still way too hot to walk on! Fortunately, your tables and chairs and throw pillows and so on aren't flammable. So with a little ingenuity, you can use these items to cross the room without receiving a case of hot feet.

Journal malfunctions. Even in spoken conversation, the journal may ‘autocorrect’ words with similar or not so similar words, completely altering the meaning of the conversation. Or Filters might malfunction in unexpected ways. Even the video feed might end up weird! The person talking may appear to have a giant mustache, or a weird hat, or some other weird change.

... and more! The above are suggestions for things to work with. But you're more than welcome to come up with your own little wacky hijinks to deal with.

All of these are optional! Aside from the unusual sky, characters may go the entire week and encounter no odd things at all, or only a few, or a bunch.

"This is pretty weird, but listen to this. That RP Manager guy? I heard he comes from the same world as people in the different enclosures. Talk about heartless!"

"In his previous life, the RP Manager was a car salesman. Kind of explains everything, doesn't it?"

Jacob:

"One of the first people to make contact with this village was some loser who broke from the company. I think he was a janitor first. No wonder he was so sour."

"I heard Jacob rejoined the Malnosso. Apparently, he never left. His entire time here was just part of an experiment. I bet nothing he ever said can be trusted..."

"Not many people can claim to have been sacrificed twice. But that sour, Irish guy can. Well, not anymore, I guess."

"Jacob finally went back to his own world. Good riddance. The guy drank too much anyway."

The General:

"Whoa, get this. You know the leader of the cultists? He used to be here in Luceti, way back in the day! No wonder he hates the Malnosso so much! Now that I think about it, he does seem kind of familiar."

"Whoa, the General has been around for a long time. I heard he's been around longer than the organization itself! Hey, I think that makes him older than me!"

"The General and the Commandant, you just know that their quarrel has to start with 'lover's', right?"

"You know, that General is kind of a stud. But his sister's the one I pine for."

John:

"He acts like he's some kind of eccentric renegade scientist but he's actually manipulating every single one of the factions. The Malnosso, the Third Party, the rebels? It's all him."

"I've heard he's the oldest member of the Malnosso. Well, ex-member, I guess."

"He's been around practically forever and he's never died! How crazy is that?"

"Apparently he has a lover who's been stringing him along for years. Everything he does is for that person, but they barely give him the time of day! Poor guy, no wonder he's always alone."

The Commandant:

"Apparently she dyed her hair because Catherine wouldn't leave her alone. He cried like a baby about it."

"Oh, her father was a war hero- everyone really loved him! He was sacrificed years ago, though."

"Did you hear about how she lost her eye? An experimental shift gave it the power to turn men into stone! She lost half a platoon before one of them took it out with an arrow."

"I hear her real name is from a board game from another world. No wonder she never tells anyone what it is."

Rem:

"Poor thing is so messed up she doesn't even remember her own name."

"You wouldn't think it, but her cigarette smoke is actually healthier than breathing air. It's all in how she shifts it."

"Did you know that she invented the transdimensional summoning technique? I don't know what trandimensional means, but it sounds impressive!"

"She was sacrificed years ago by the person she loves more than anyone in the world. It's a miracle she was able to come back! It's actually a really sad story..."

Davis:

"That guy Davis? Apparently he wears those weird sunglasses because of a death penalty. I wonder what it could be?"

"I heard he lost everything to the cultists ten years ago. It's amazing they let a guy so obsessed with killing cultists into the Security Forces!"

"Apparently the Specialist and some teacher are the last two survivors from some enclosure a decade or so ago. I bet they're lovers now!"

"He's only working on all those missions because he owes CJ so much that the old bastard has him by the balls. Not literally. I think."

Haruhi
So Haruhi's birthday is on the 31st, and that's also the day that she turns back from being an Older Adult. Thing is, between this event and Otakon, while she might want to have a celebration, I don't really want to do another party log! So, would anyone who would help her set up a party and/or would go to a party for her want to do something obtuse like... when people enter into the party's designated location (like the HQ) they instead open up into some other random location which is a trampoline land.

That might be overkill but basically I'm thinking of how to use this event to derail any potential party while still giving people a chance to interact with the now-not-old Haruhi (maybe give gifts or something too) so if anyone has ideas or anything /rolls

But she'll be gone come the day after her birthday for a mission, so I think I'll more or less only do this unless anyone has big ideas.

Rin & Asami
No real plans yet! But they'll be my only two actually around for this event so I would love to do anything with them if people want. I want to do things for Asami in particular.

However! Korra and Shiemi are both kidnapped! Asami will be having minor BSOD and be jumpy about this if not depressed and Rin will be a fucking wreck because there's no way he won't be. Like... probably burned down his house on the day of (we'll see if I feel like posting about that), went out to the barrier to punch it for the whole rest of the day, tried to knock down John's door, still on edge the whole rest of the event...

...We'll see if I feel like playing all that, I might kidnap him too or something

Masaomi & Scorpius

I am imagining someone's front door having a dragon's head sticking out of it. And then they look through the window to see if the rest of the dragon is on the other side. Alas, he is not.

Okay, I have a plethora of ideas for my characters, including (but not limited to):

- Rapunzel's hair appearing as licorice and people thus trying to eat it, much to her horror and dismay
- Hiccup getting chased by flying axe vuvuzelas
- SOMEONE getting stuck for a long time in a giant hedge maze (which others could of course get stuck in as well)
- Characters having random accents when voice posting on the journal
- Lots of unfortunate autocorrect problems, especially for poor, innocent Rapunzel
- HUMAN BOARD GAMES that characters must beat to get out of. Clue, Monopoly, The Game of Life, Battleship, there are a lot of amazing possibilities here.

And I'm thinking up much more. This is only the beginning and I'm very much open to plottings!

I really like the idea about the board games, it could be fun to have all the Marvel people stuck playing a game of human chess/checkers/etc against like...a bunch of super villain NPCs. That'd be pretty cash.

-- A'ight, so Elicia's gonna have a wacky party, obvs. Hers is going to be pretty important because in her birthday log, it'll be more like an adventure for your characters: when they walk into the Hughes household or through any of the doors, they'll be teleported all over the place, including lava rooms and trampoline rooms and etc. Might even end up in the ocean circled by sharks. Eventually if they manage to walk through enough doors they'll make it there to the actual party.

... Also. Thanks to a thought from the beautiful Bayley: They might end up in a big, irl version of a board game at some point in their adventure. Hungry Hungry Hippos? Jenga? That wacky elephant that shoots butterflies out its nose? WHATEVER YOU WANNA PERSEVERE THOUGH, TEAM.

Syre's floor will most definitely be lava at one point. And all of her furniture will be on the ceiling.

Basically, being a chimera, Beast is already composed of several different animal body parts. And during one specific day of this event (probably August 1st), these body parts will change. Beast's torso could suddenly change from a bear's to a horse's. Or his horns will extend into buck antlers. Or his arms are no longer arms and are instead lobster claws. The possibilities are virtually endless, since this will be interchangeable throughout the day with no warning.

To parallel this, Beast's voice will also be changing. In-person, especially right after a body part transformation, Beast could spurt out an animal sound (that matches said body part) mid-sentence or just at random. Over the journals, some words he will say or write will simply be autocorrected into a similar-sounding animal noise, making whatever Beast is trying to say, naturally, confusing as hell.

This is Beast's only central issue throughout the event, but he will of course be caught into whatever other whacky things will be going on. If anyone has any ideas, though, for having their character play off of this, let me know!

I've got no hard plans for Lupin here or Viral (no_compromise), but I do have a few ideas...

1) I want Lupin to get stranded somewhere. He's been...shall we say unwell lately? And this Shift is gonna really throw him for a loop. Additionally, he's currently under house arrest, so the random teleporting when he leaves his room will leave him with a huge quandary.

Anyone can find him, though I'd prefer him getting stuck somewhere absurd. Like a tree. Or someones refrigerator.

2) For Viral, I have no specifications as yet, but I want it to be very embarrassing!

Luke: I'm not sure how much fun he'll be during all this. With Ami kidnapped he's bound to be something of a wreck. HOWEVER, I think that maybe something entertaining would be good given how messy things are. Does anyone want a kind of mopey Jedi randomly turning up? Not to mention all the horrible rumors...


Rei: I would honestly really like the chance for Rei to have fun with something for once. With half the village getting horrific, terrible fortunes...maybe she should have a few laughs. One thought I had was for the ground around her house to be turned into...pudding, or some other dessert.

Saori: This one will probably be floating around the village, wondering why on earth she woke up and went into her kitchen, only to find herself in someone elses house. I'm also alright with someone just showing up in her room and catching her naked. It could be rather amusing.

Susan: Honestly? I have NO idea. I'm pondering the idea of her going through a door and coming out gigantic. I'd be very open to suggestions though!

So I'm thinking Grune will be talking wackbirds (à la princess in the Muppet Frog Prince) for most or all of the event. :Db Think: "Oh, my! This is so fuch mun!"

I'm also volunteering Grune to make things as awkward as possible for everyone's characters via door mishaps. As Leonhardt discovered on the last draft, it is entirely impossible to fluster her and her reaction to, say, walking through the door and ending up in the bathroom with a showering character would be...to strike up a conversation. Yup.

Okay, some ideas for Steve I'm bouncing around:

-The floor in his & Howard's apartment being lava. The thought of them furniture climbing amuses me.
-Steve never being able to go where he wants because every door way takes him somewhere else. (feel free to suggest some places or give permission for Steve to show up in your room, etc.)
-Every time Steve leaves a room his shirt disappears. you're welcome

I feel like of mine, Kain will have the most autocorrect problems! He can use more frustration with communication. Also he'll just have to suffer hearing about ALL the animals' mating problems, because... just because. XD

I think Mulder will be stuck walking on the ceiling the whole time, and it can be made of something wacky (something... ALIEN!?). ALSO! Since he's constantly eating sunflower seeds anyway, I'm going with the idea of them all having different flavors, every time he bites into them. Care for a taste of Mulder's Every Flavor Seeds?

Now off to write up some truths/lies, because that sounds like some amusing potential. XD

Don't have too much set in stone for Hugo and Leonhardt here, but have a couple of ideas.

I don't object to a repeat of someone walking in on Leonhardt while changing like Grune did last draft, or in the shower, or whatever! and he'll likely fall victim to weird tasting food. Definitely good timing on something like that because he's been a stubborn git about getting his DP removed.

Hugo I have a few ideas for, basically some of the following:
-End up somewhere where he can't just easily take a teleporter back.
-maybe he'll appear to have some stereotypical demon features to freak him out? Though considering the truth and lies I gave for him, may do this on the first.
-Otherwise am pretty open, just nothing that would seem outright dangerous because I don't need him going batshit insane quite yet.

So far my general idea for Sabriel during the even is for her to slowly transform into the Cheshire cat. She'll be stuck with the ears, tail, eyes and teeth. There may or may not be involuntary levitation and invisibility of some of her body parts.

She might take on the habit of talking in circles but if that gets too complicated she'll be having verbal autocorrect issues.

I'm open for any shenanigans if you'd like her somewhere or wanna toss anybody at her.

Iiii don't have too many ideas quite yet, but I do know that I want:

Gambit
- Getting followed by a squirrel that just keeps talking about the consistency of bird droppings in the trees. And nuts, of course.
- Entire apartment is ultra-bouncy trampoline floor.
- His cards keep getting replaced with random junk.

Applejack
- Any time she walks through a door, she ends up somewhere completely random.
- Road to the farm is soap.
- Will probably spend a good amount of time staring up and trying to figure out what happened to those apples she just tried to buck down... which went up.

Some things for Law

At some point, the floor under him is not going to turn to lava, but OCEAN. SCREAM, HALP! DEVIL FRUIT USER, I CANNOT SWIM! Expect him to be clinging to furniture or rocks (that mysteriously float) and trying to teleport himself to safety if he can.

He's going to finally snap in frustration and go fuck this at some point, given his powers can accomplish pretty much a good deal of what's going on here. So expect an all out fight between the Shift and him as he tries to put everything to rights wherever he's at and the Shift resists his attempts. Because, man, all he wants to do is sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee without the world going bonkers. COME ON NOW.

Yaaay! First event! So excited! I've only got my one pup here, and I'd love to see her get involved in some shenanigans!

Chizuru
- If someone would like to accidentally open a door to her room, result in screaming and possibly horrible confrontations with the more ferocious Shinsengumi members (pending their go-ahead..?) this could open some fun CR opportunities for anyone wishing to toy with the Hakuouki cast!
- Chizuru tries to cook some of the weird things in the grocery store...because quite frankly, most of the stuff is weird for her, anyway..?
- I would love for Chizuru to be-friend an overly-candid critter who speaks their mind (and possibly the things Chizuru's thinking but would never dare to say!)

...in addition, Chizuru is still very new to Luceti, so I'd love to plot around with some more of you! ♥ I'll be keeping an eye on the plotting threads and if anyone wants her hapless little self for one of their plots, hit me up!

Guess it's time to set some things in stone.

I was planning some mallynaps and missions but I'll have everyone around for the start of the event!

I am dying to have a character encounter one of mine while the latter believes the floor is lava, and the former does not. I think it would be so hilarious. Hot Lava is my childhood.

Other than that I am rather open right now because I am buried under last-minute things and exhaustion. I want to play with everybody and I am open to pretty much everything about this event. It all sounds awesome.

Though it will be Sheena's birthday at the start of the event, to my knowledge there is not a party in the works. A fair few people would know about it though so feel free to have the Tea Shop turn into something else if you visit there. Maybe a room full of lava.

I'll be around tagging things for the first few days for sure! I really am excited and I wish I could muster the energy to reply to all these plotty threads right now. Guess I'll do it via phone in some downtime this weekend.

Oi... I don't know what I want Hiro to do for this event. Maybe someone could figure out that some of the tree-gossip is about him and come to him about it?
