It's finale time. 8| You guys get more prep time with this one because- well. You'll see.
August 15th, early morning. It's strange how things can go right back to normal, isn't it? The summons are gone, the clouds and the moon are white again, and the sun rises as bright and beautiful as it ever was. Finally the terrain is starting to fix itself, and over the course of a day or so, whatever ground or houses that were still collapsed will be back to their usual, level selves. For a little while, everything seems well.
But some might notice a few differences. Their teenage neighbour is an old man. The local wolf goddess is a paintbrush-wielding cat. Their peace-loving best friend is suddenly a warmonger. And they themselves might have changed- but they might not even notice...
This is an Alternate Universe event! All those echoes that have been popping up now and then are taking over. This is an opportunity to drag in any what-if scenarios and make them into realities. There are endless amounts of little twists and deviations that can be created, so really, the sky is the limit. Here are some examples of what you could do:
A major deviation. Say your character makes a different life choice, or a situation changes around them. Someone lives when they should have died. Someone gives up on a quest when they should have continued their journey. What if Zack was the main character of Final Fantasy VII instead of Cloud? How would it be different? How would he have changed? How would he have affected everyone around him?
A minor deviation. A swordsman decided to be a mage. Someone with a lot of hair is suddenly bald. Nothing serious, nothing big, but a difference nonetheless.
A gender deviation. Everyone loves a good genderbend. But what if your character was born that way? How would their life have been changed? Do they remember all their friends as being genderbent or are they the only one?
A species deviation. Half-elves grow up human. Humans are Ancients. Dogs are chickadees. I could go on but it'd take a while.
Relational deviation. Hey, you know that wife you have? And that best friend? Yeah, now the best friend is married to the wife. Sucks to be you, eh? ...Or maybe you're the lucky best friend, wink wink...
A perceived deviation. The character themselves don't change, but they might remember something differently. Susumu might still be Susumu, but he suddenly comes from a reality where Tatsu is his Shinsengumi page BFF and Tetsu is the accountant. And Okita is a pot-bellied pig.
Age deviation. If you want to have a character taken from an alternate universe but have it be in, say, the past or the future of that AU, that's fine. As long as it's not just your generic age up/down.
A combination of the above. A male swordsman becomes the female healer! A minor character who believes themselves to be the main hero wonders why the true hero isn't their supporting NPC anymore! This one could be all over the map, really.
Something new? If you can think of something else, feel free to try it out, but please clear it with us first. There are some exceptions.
Extra Notes:
- Changes can be both physical and mental. Bodies, clothes, weapons, powers, character relationships, anything and everything.
- Whether a character remembers their true reality is up to you. If you want your male-to-female character to wake up screaming at their new boobs, cool, or they could casually put on their make-up as if everything is normal. It's totally your call. You could also screw with them by having them put on their make-up and wonder why they feel like screaming. |D
- Like most events, this one is optional; you can have your character be affected or just react to the chaos around them.
- Characters of the same canon can be from alternate realities. Sokka could become the only waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe at the same time as Katara becomes the Fire Nation princess. Guydesdelca Musalan Fendios can offend An Grantlin with his beard. (...no he can't, that is far too silly.) Wacky disagreements may ensue. "But you're supposed to be....!!!" Yeah.
- The changes must at least come from the character's home canon. That means that while Ash might believe that he's a Pokemon breeder instead of a trainer, Minato can't be a Pokemon trainer. Amaterasu could become a human or a cat, but not like... a Blood Elf or something. Alternate realities offer enough complications without adding cross-world changes into the mix!
- Their experiences in Luceti should be more or less the same, though the more extreme AUs would obviously have more extreme changes. Characters should also remember their fellow Lucetians in their true form, since keeping track of who they remember as what would be boggling and way too complicated. It's better that, with the AU changes, players only have to keep track of how their character remembers things, rather than both.
For example, waterbender!Sokka would remember his Katara as always having been a nonbender, but she's still his Katara who grew up with him in the Water Tribe rather than Fire Nation. His relationship with other people would be 'remembered' differently for him as well. He would probably still be on bad terms with Sanji, but not because Sanji dissed his skills. He'd remember their spat being for different reasons.
- This is probably going to be kind of confusing, so try to keep your story straight! It helps to write things down. Give your AU a story. We could even have an OOC entry where you can share your AUs, if you guys want :|b
This event runs from 12:01 AM on August 15th to 11:59 PM on the 21st.
Questions go here! I'm expecting a lot of them, so if I don't answer yours in a timely fashion, please bother me about it. You guys all know my memory by now.

S-so much to choose from.
this deer is taking an aqua tinge
Let me try by example. Say we have waterbending Sokka and unaffected Katara, where he believes the AU is his original canon (i.e. this isn't Sokka waking up going "hey I can waterbend", like with the boob-screaming, but rather the "of course I can waterbend :|", like with the make-up applying). When Sokka remembers what he and Katara have done in Luceti, does he remember her being in Luceti as:
1) Normal Luceti Katara, the waterbender from the original canon. He would then remember a confusing meeting there wherein, in Sokka's memories, they realized they could both waterbend. Thus Katara would seem unchanged from his memories on the 15th, as he already remembered that Luceti Katara was from a different reality. Or would he remember her being in Luceti as:
2) Sokka's AU Katara, the nonbender from his AU. He would remember things being completely normal to his AU up until the 15th. On the 15th, it would seem from his point of view that Katara suddenly became AU so that she could waterbend.
If the answer is 1, would this change if Katara was from the same AU for the event? That is, would he think she had returned to being "normal" (i.e. his AU) Katara, or would he believe she had been AU Katara all along?
Also if Sokka did the boob-screaming-type wake-up to his waterbending powers, would he remember Katara as from his original canon since he remembers himself from his original canon?
...And if you need me to clarify, let me know. Even with the example my explanation turned really clunky.

If they're from the same canon, then yeah. Waterbender Sokka would expect Katara to be a nonbender and be surprised when she splashes him in the face with her own waterbending, because she's clearly never done that before at home or in Luceti. Assuming Katara doesn't change at all, he would assume that she is the one who is the AU, not himself.
And in the second example, yeah. Just like you said.

And while I've got you on the line: when it says that things must be from their original canon (the no-Poké-Minato clause), does that also restrain characters to approximately their time period? And by their time period, I mean on a longer scale than one person's lifespan, since I know they can be slid around their own timeline. For example, Fenimore's from a...hard to say, but non-modern setting. Would that foreclose a modern high-school AU Fenimore? Or would it only require that this be restrained to a future version of her own world (like, it still has the same landmasses and there's still magic, different humanoid species, the Legacy, etc., but a theoretical several centuries later where they've invented a cell-phone-analogue)? Or in the other direction of history: is a Warring States era Samurai Goroh possible or not?
This one's more out of curiosity than anything, though, as I currently have no plans to put Fenimore in a Japanese sailor suit.
But that kind of school uniform would actually would be canonically justifiable, because there is one that can be collected in the game for one of the characters.no subject
So Samurai Goroh is from a space age regardless. He can't be from the farflung past or even further in the future.

The world can be pretty different if the major changes are on the global scale rather than a personal scale, though, right, like with the disappearance of Sin? For example, if in the movie Avatar (not the one based on the airbender, the one based on the aliens), it was the Na'vi who were traveling to a human inhabited world instead of vice versa. I'm not sure if this example entirely works since I haven't watched the movie, but I can't think of a better example off the top of my head of "two groups' situations were entirely reversed, thus greatly revising the setting and would only work by changing 90% of the history of the world for the AU, but would still be recognizable as derivative of the original canon."

Possibly even better that two ideas I've had already for this wherein Fenimore will think that humans are the scum of the earth and thus will get just so royally insulted if he makes it clear he thinks she likes him you will not believe.

(Though I may go with something besides these two. Rewriting her Luceti memories, which involve a good number of human interactions when she comes from an human-hating AU would be so incredibly convoluted that it gives me a headache even before trying to think it out.)

see I can hold my chin, too
Which has just raised YET ANOTHER QUESTION in my mind: will this affect their belongings? AUs probably wouldn't have collected the same stuff. Would they have the same belongings as they would normally and assume that they just couldn't find the stuff they were looking for in the shops?
not as well as I can
...yeah I've run out of holding my own chin so time to hold someone else's
And, derp, rereading made me realize that my first question was answered in the post, I just misread it. I shall count my blessings for patient mods.
I have like ten of them, jeez
"- Changes can be both physical and mental. Bodies, clothes, weapons, powers, character relationships, anything and everything."
In this case, the change being that Sokka never had those possessions.
...you win.
