How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

I've done one thread with Wolfwood and stalked Elicia and I think that you play both masterfully. Elicia is adorable as she should be but you keep her from being the token cute kid. And man... the only thing I can say about Wolfwood (especially since I have been canon reviewing Trigun lately, so it's in my head very clearly) is OMG, how more IC can you get?! Every tag I've stalked and replied to was perfect, and I love it when you do his inner thought process. I played [Bad username or site: stungunsugar title= @ livejournal.com] with him on D_M recently and that made my decision on bringing her here or not so much harder (unfortunately, her voice isn't as strong as the other muse /cough). The decision I made is still conflicting the more I see your Preacher man around Luceti lol! Keep up the good work! And I'm so sorry I won't be bringing the big girl here like I had thought I would >.< Your Wolfwood deserves a really good one, though, so here's hoping a good one comes along!

Okay! Self-issues: Activity with Hugo and Liu have been sporadic, possibly weaker than I'd like. This is mostly because I am honestly stumped with them, especially Liu. So~ ideas would be nice, since I just can't figure out how to get them out there as much as I'd like. Other than that, issues with my characterization, activity, plots, OOC behavior, etc. Lay it on me!

I really like the sentence structures and speech styles you use for Spada. All the improper speech like "ain't" and such really tie into his character. It's a jerk having no English voice to work off of but I think you've pretty much nailed the localization aspects.

But I'd love to see his more... obnoxious sides. He does have an ego and I think he'd show it off just a bit more. (Though I don't know his canon point sooooo that could impact sooomething.) Also, hit on girls more. He's supposed to be the "lover" of the group. Let's see it. ;)

Not really crit here, but we could always plot up stuff for Liu and Roberto to do? There's the battle dome for one, even if Liu would probably not entertain it too much on a regular basis, but it's something to do. Errr, after Sisuca comes back, because I imagine everyone's feeling sour about that. Also, given he does go out for rounds often, I think it's okay for him to stumble in on action posts a little more often, even just looking at the people doing stuff. It's not the best intro, but it might help get him more CR. :|d

And if that fails, we could always just accidentally lose Chrodechild and Roberto could go all "WHERE IS IT?! WHERE IS IT?!" or something and search like there's not tomorrow.

Yami, I realize this is entering into dangerous territory - claiming that your activity is getting in the way of ICness, I mean, which is like blaming you for having a personal life - but honestly I think the style with which your normally handle characters is for want of a better term "getting in the way" with Aqua.

Aqua is uh. Well I've seen/heard her compared to Obi Wan Kenobi before, and I don't think it's an entirely unfair comparison. While she is somewhat quiet and taciturn, in every world she goes to in the game she's there and she's helping people. She doesn't swoop in with a lot of fanfare, but everywhere she goes where there is a problem, she does what she can to solve it. Everyone is helped by her in BBS in some fashion or another sans the prime villains and and to a Terra (and in his case he refuses help). While I confess it's possible I've missed something, I haven't gotten the same innately Jesus helpful vibe from your own Aqua thus far, and I think it's how your normally play (activity, shyness, etc) which is serving as a problem.

While I am confident for the most part this'll mend itself once you get more active with her, I'm going to make a possibly unfair example: this post (http://enduringwaters.livejournal.com/2142.html). As I said, Aqau doesn't exactly seek out people to help, she just does if there's people in trouble, but the "mood" of the post gives an impression of the character which might have shied some people away from realizing or taking advantage of that. It came off as being focused exclusively (or at least highly on) canonmates.

I'm sorry for only bringing this up now, by the way, but I've been holding out on seeing if I was just being biased or somesuch, but I believe it's something to keep in mind as you get off hiatus. Honestly, a very simple and quick answer for changing this mood would be to try to set a goal of getting her some notable CR outside of canonmates, because I think playing her IC (and I think you are, as I said, there's just lingering factors getting in the way) will make it all come naturally after that.

I know you said you're working on your activity, so this may just sound like me badgering, but please post more with Emil? I know posts aren't necessary, but like with Emil where he hasn't had a post in four months (and when he does, it's a fourth wall post, and Regal took three months for one) and I barely even get any tags from him for Ted (and the ones I do are normally cut off or tagged a week or two later), it's taken a blow to their CR, at least on Ted's side, and I honestly struggle with trying to find out how Ted feels about him sometimes.

Also, you have this really odd habit with the way you tag that you seem to tag a lot of things but only get back to a handful immediately, and you would delay tagging the rest for a week or two, even a month. While I am all up for backtagging, it can be very frustrating to wait for such a long period of time just for a tag especially when people can see you tagging quickly in other places, sometimes with the same character. It's especially frustrating since I know you tend to reassure some people you're going to go back to the tag even if it's been a month, and you show signs of being active in the first place. You've said this to me a few times and I don't really get tags until a week later at earliest, and it's come to a point where I think I end up dreading the thought of tags from you rather than wanting it. I know you say it's because you've been busy and you get a lot of tags regularly, but if you aren't able to handle it, might I suggest trimming your tags back down until you can manage all of them equally? One or two days delay is fine, maybe a week if it's really unavoidable, but if you're not going to show the same treatment for everyone you tag, I think it's really unfair for the other party. I say this because I know you're extremely active with Richard, but honestly I think I've had a few threads with him where he comments about five to ten times and then I don't hear from him for a week or two, but I still see him around. I think if you're not going to be able to handle it, you should just see what you really could handle at the same time rather than get a lot then not be able to give them the proper attention anyway.
