How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

That really means a lot to me. I was worried that people would be SO DISAPPOINT after I was like "HEY MAYBE I'LL APP STARFIRE..........LOL JK, CHANGED MY MIND", especially since the Jonas brothers aren't exactly super popular among many people. So I'm glad that people can give him a chance and have fun with him.

Also, I am ridiculously amused by his developing bromance with Kurt. B)

Yeah, you didn't think I was really gonna cop out on you, did you?

I love all five of your characters in their own little (or big) ways. I'm probably least attached to Ikki, but that being said, I still really like him and I think he is a very important niche in your very diverse lineup. And honestly, the attachment to Lizzie is barely any stronger, and it's mostly because she's just so funny based on the context of her canonmates. But I still love her too for being just... adorably sweet.

Goku, your newest? Oh man. I haven't threaded with him much, and that's my own damn fault, not yours. He's so innocent and hilarious and... I don't even. I think this setting's just perfect for him, honestly. So many different people and potential friends that his boundless energy and curiosity will give him plenty to do.

Keiichi's been gone over in detail by everyone before me, and I have to echo those same sentiments. He's got a good mix of emotions and depth that make him feel alive. He's got his own shit to go through, and at the same time he just is so normal. It's a thing of beauty to see how complex his reactions can be to so many different things in this crazy world.

...And well. You know better than anyone that Luka is far and away my favorite of your five. We've talked about why I like her so much in the past, so you know. That hasn't changed. I adore her. I adore her CR with Adell. Easily, they have the most complex relationship out of any of the ones Adell or Thirteen has. But it's a complexity that I can't get enough of and she's had such an effect on Adell. Playing with her is amazing.

I will admit I have never liked Dawn. Not ever. But after threading with you a couple times, I ended up running back and watching her first episode. I had completely new eyes for the character. I think it's possible you get the character better than any of the show's writers ever did, because I never saw her as being cohesive and interesting before now. But you didn't just make stuff up about her--you took what already existed and just made it work. I love it.

I'm glad someone out there likes Bowser that much. I haven't been getting him out there as much as I want, but when I do, it's always fun, so at least I'm sure he won't be going anywhere for a good while.

And you're right about John. It's nice having someone like him in my roster. I've actually been having an easier time now because I think I've got his personality down better and capable of getting him out there a little more. (Besides, I can never drop John. Imagine the humiliation of a redrop!)

From what I've seen of Murasa, she's been fascinating. I'll have to try tagging with her again soon. I like how you've worked with her ghostly qualities too. Is good and shakes things up a bit.

I've told you how much I love your Buffy, right? I've never felt so much sympathy for the character before. And it's not just the character--you're just amazing to RP with. I can't go on forever with chatty threads with just anyone, but I could have an IC conversation with you for days and days (and have!). I feel like I'm learning from you how to engage other players better. All in all, you're one of my absolute favorite people to RP with.

I'm going to say this up front. I am not a Halo person. At all. And I was admittedly skeptical about how well a SPARTAN would fit into Luceti at first. So allow me to say something else:

Daisy's turned out utterly fascinating. I love how you've gone to great lengths to illustrate how much her military training (and indoctrination) affects how she thinks, acts, and even moves. It's all very deliberate, well thought out, and astoundingly executed. I follow her threads like crazy, man. I may not be a Halo person for the most part, but you've granted this girl so much depth that I can't help but watch how she develops.

Her threads with both Yellow 13 and Adell were so good too. I'm really, really glad we got a chance to do those and I'm really looking forward to more.

Your Yuan is what makes me actually like and appreciate Yuan as a character. I'm serious. I used to not quite "get" him...he was just kinda...there. Then I was linked to some of your threads, and suddenly he became an actual character to me. Now when I play the game I don't automatically go WHAT THE FIRETRUCK YUAN whenever he does anything. ...Also, this was like 3 years ago, so I kinda feel like a creeper because I totally didn't even know you back then. :|a

Well, you've got the only concern I've had covered.

But that still hasn't changed how much I adore this little blob of fail!moe. And when she's not being fail!moe and being competent, she's great too. And normally I don't like neurotic characters like Noel, but for some reason she's utterly charming and your Noel's a big reason why I picked up BlazBlue at all.

And though I'm still not far through the story... I adore that game. ...We should play it online again really soon. YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND ME.

Amazingly? I'm at least familiar with every canon you're playing in. I haven't threaded with April, but with everyone else--and I know this sounds crazy--I can't shake the feeling that I'm playing with the actual character, not an interpretation. How you absorb and project each one so effortlessly is beyond me.

I reckon that your Ellis is pretty dang spot on.

It's like this one time that me and my buddy Keith snuck into this one movie. It wasn't anythin' bad or nothin', but rather we had a buddy who let us in the side door and... anyway, we were watching this movie when suddenly Keith got up on a chair in the theater and started recitin' the lines in the movie. And his voice was a perfect match, y'know? Like, he got all the inflections down and everything! People started throwing popcorn at him to show how well he was doin'! One person even threw a full soda at him! Talk about generous! Until it hit Keith in the face and he fell down all the rows of seats to the ground floor and broke half the bones in his body and had to be hauled out in a body cast.

...The moral of the story, like Keith, you're good at bein' Ellis. Or somethin'.
