And so I wake in the morning and I step outside

Hey Lucetians. Having fun with all the new people so far? If you missed them, here's your list to add them all! You can use the Admin Console right over here. If you're not on this list and need to be, head over yonder to the Friend Add/Remove page. Go!

There, got all that? Good. Now, event stuff. Not quite an experiment this time. You know that big ol' Battle Dome? Well, the two NPCs residing under it have been making some tweaks on behalf of the Lucetians. Unfortunately a certain Intern has not quite yet mastered Sixth Level Shifting Fundamentals and... well, things will go a bit awry.

On the 26th, the Dome's chambers will no longer function. Though the clinic and vending areas will be fine, the chambers will be locked off entirely. The viewing areas will be blanked out, preventing anything from being seen.

On the 27th, at about noon, suddenly Luceti will be... a little bit odd. All the sort of things that usually happen in the dome? Now it's all over Luceti. Most significantly this will include 'enemies'. They aren't real and they can't kill, but they can hurt you (though not severely). These can range from RPG monsters, generic enemies (like soldiers, bandits, knights, etc), and so on. When they are defeated, they will vanish in a flash of light. However there's a good chance they may just 'respawn' elsewhere. Annoying right?

Unfortunately the scenarios have followed with it, seemingly at random. While your hallway may now seem like a jungle with all the vines all around, your bedroom looks more like a castle dungeon. Even stranger given that your house looked like a skyscraper from outside. Or, you know, perhaps your home is just fine. Only your neighbors have it bad. This means your house could be infested with bad guys AND/OR look completely different. (In other words, it's only as annoying as you want it to be.)

These shenanigans will persist until the 31st, in the evening at 6PM. Everything will be back to normal... but better! At least in the Dome. After it's been fixed to the way it should be, the Dome will now allow for more freedom. Enemies are no longer required, you can simulate a control console inside the scenario to build a world as you go, you can even script stories together if you like. But that stuff is boring, right? The better part is that vehicles can now be simulated - lasers, racecars, and airplanes. It's a duck blur.

The usual safeties of course are still enabled and nothing in there can kill you. Not even crashing spectacularly in a huge explosion. At best you'll just walk away dizzy.

As usual, plotting and questions can be done here. Have at it, ye scurvy players!

...I would. Actually be up for Giles getting lost in a mini Water Temple. And Link having to rescue him.

...work for you?

Awesome! Although I haven't played it in a year *stares at post, waits for 3DS and game to arrive*, so I may have to pop through a walkthrough to give myself a refresher XD

Could work, yeah. Zelda Dungeon has some really good walkthroughs, too.

Duly noted.

...considering the potential for this event, this will probably still be one of the easiest encounters Giles has.

XD Oh, quite possibly... Bringing anything from the Buffyverse?

Monster possibilities thanks to Giles' canon point include:

-Vampires
-Generic Demons (I do not have the Monster Manual on me, so I can only name a few off the top of my head)
-Human soldiers
-Multidimensional horrors the likes of which man is not meant to see

I would love to bring some stuff in from the Buffyverse. That is definitely the hope~.

If "boss" types are allowed, I'd like to bring in The Master or Twilight.

Sounds like fun \o/ I was thinking random Stalchildren at night? They're extremely low-level (two hits with the Kokiri Sword, seriously) and respawn constantly XD Maybe things like Deku Baba, Deku Shrubs, Keese... minor pests like that.

Some more boss-like things would be fun, though. Giant flaming dragon, anyone? 8D

...Also, potentially, Wallmasters in the bathrooms. For some added horror ;)

Minor pests would definitely be good. I'm...not familiar with any of these, but I can guess.

Right! The sparks notes version:

Stalchildren: Skeletal enemies, the size of children, pretty easy to take out with most weapons. Only appear at night in Hyrule Field, and only if you stray off the path.

Deku Baba: Carnivorous plants on long stalks, tendency to lunge at people. Defeat them by cutting through the stalk or striking the head.

Deku Shrubs: Leafy... things that live in burrows under the ground, pop up if you approach to spit projectiles at you. Defeat them by using your shield to deflect the projectile back at them, they'll jump out of their burrows, hit with your sword. Have a few other relatives, like Octoroks (same principle, but they live in water and are defeated just by deflecting the projectile back).

Keese: Bats! Use any weapon you want, basically - they die in one hit. Also have other varieties - Fire Keese set you on fire, Ice Keese freeze you. Use projectiles for those!

Wallmasters: Giant disembodied hands that drop from the ceiling, grab you BY THE HEAD, and drag you screaming to the start of the temple. FUN TIMES.

Aside from the Wallmasters, these are all enemies that Link encounters really early on in the game, so they're not very challenging.

Stalchildren could be interesting annoyances. Deku Babas seem like they'd be good for a short, sharp shock, as do Keese. And Wallmasters could actually be good for pulling people from place to place and separating them from friends, so I think we could definitely do with some of those!

Ooh, that does have potential. Right! Anyone targeted by a Wallmaster will notice that their shadow is growing larger, no matter how fast they move. They'll only stop tracking your movements just before they drop, so you do have about half a second to get out of range. Then, of course, you have a pissed off disembodied hand after you... but evade them long enough and they'll return to their place on the ceiling. Of course, if you don't move during that half second, you will get grabbed.

Jeez O_O. Nightmare Fuel much?

But, yeah, I think only about half the people in Luceti have the requisite reflexes there.

[personal profile] blessedbyfarore 2011-07-23 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
It can be found in the Shadow Temple. Anything in the Shadow Temple is nightmare fuel. Anything. Wallmasters, skull-raping shrieking zombies, a mound of quivering white rotting flesh surrounded by long, bony arms with long, bloody fingernails that grab Link by the head and hold him in place until said mount of rotting flesh can slowly inch forward and attempt to bite his face off, rooms lined with skulls and bones, pools of acid, paintings that say things like, "Here is gathered Hyrule's bloody history of greed and hatred" and "What is hidden in the darkness... tricks full of ill will... you can't see the way forward...", guillotines over bottomless pits, wooden crosses with chains hanging off them surrounded by blood, a ferry with a prow that resembles the Grim Reaper which carries people to the underworld, and it's located in a graveyard.

And just to cap it off, it's most likely connected to the well in Kakariko Village (which is a mini-dungeon themed exactly the same that Link does as a CHILD). That people presumably drink out of. "Hey, does this water taste like evil to you?"

This game is rated E for Everyone 8D

Heh - Zelda games are about half that, half this.

...Pokemon Mystery Dungeon definitely counts, too. Aww, you're a cute little starter Pokemon! Aww, you have a cute little friend! Aww, you get to eat cute little apples and gummis to regain strength! Aww, you... get lined up for execution via being shredded to death and asking if you want to commit suicide and... never mind.

...yeah, I still want to play Pokemon Mystery Dungeon just to be a Pokemon. And because damn, it's about time one of the games acknowledges how bloody, brutal, and messed up the Pokemon world has to be.

Oh dude, the Pokeverse has so much potential for messed-up-ness. I started playing Explorers of Time and got stalled because, uh, I suck at it. Really badly XD But I want to find out what happens next, dammit!

That.

When you play as child Link, his head is a bit. Lower down.

Ocarina also has such delightful new friends like Floormasters, Likelikes (video is from Majora's Mask, but they're in Ocarina as well), a whole lot of things that can turn you into an ice cube, and not one, but TWO Dead Hands!

Right! Except in a game rated E for Everyone ^_^ And with more humping.
