And so I wake in the morning and I step outside

Hey Lucetians. Having fun with all the new people so far? If you missed them, here's your list to add them all! You can use the Admin Console right over here. If you're not on this list and need to be, head over yonder to the Friend Add/Remove page. Go!

There, got all that? Good. Now, event stuff. Not quite an experiment this time. You know that big ol' Battle Dome? Well, the two NPCs residing under it have been making some tweaks on behalf of the Lucetians. Unfortunately a certain Intern has not quite yet mastered Sixth Level Shifting Fundamentals and... well, things will go a bit awry.

On the 26th, the Dome's chambers will no longer function. Though the clinic and vending areas will be fine, the chambers will be locked off entirely. The viewing areas will be blanked out, preventing anything from being seen.

On the 27th, at about noon, suddenly Luceti will be... a little bit odd. All the sort of things that usually happen in the dome? Now it's all over Luceti. Most significantly this will include 'enemies'. They aren't real and they can't kill, but they can hurt you (though not severely). These can range from RPG monsters, generic enemies (like soldiers, bandits, knights, etc), and so on. When they are defeated, they will vanish in a flash of light. However there's a good chance they may just 'respawn' elsewhere. Annoying right?

Unfortunately the scenarios have followed with it, seemingly at random. While your hallway may now seem like a jungle with all the vines all around, your bedroom looks more like a castle dungeon. Even stranger given that your house looked like a skyscraper from outside. Or, you know, perhaps your home is just fine. Only your neighbors have it bad. This means your house could be infested with bad guys AND/OR look completely different. (In other words, it's only as annoying as you want it to be.)

These shenanigans will persist until the 31st, in the evening at 6PM. Everything will be back to normal... but better! At least in the Dome. After it's been fixed to the way it should be, the Dome will now allow for more freedom. Enemies are no longer required, you can simulate a control console inside the scenario to build a world as you go, you can even script stories together if you like. But that stuff is boring, right? The better part is that vehicles can now be simulated - lasers, racecars, and airplanes. It's a duck blur.

The usual safeties of course are still enabled and nothing in there can kill you. Not even crashing spectacularly in a huge explosion. At best you'll just walk away dizzy.

As usual, plotting and questions can be done here. Have at it, ye scurvy players!

Hey, a Mirror!Helios that can only say generic death threats is still frickin' scary, man. If it would behave the same way Mirror!Helios did - or could at least behave as intelligently - I think we could still make this work. Giles, despite his protestations to the contrary, does't really suspect Mirror!Helios' presence all that often.

They're basically disembodied hands that come out of the wall from a possessed version of your shadow, drag you by your head into the wall with basically a half second's warning, and dump you somewhere random.

It is. It's not much different than regular Mirror!Helios when you think about it. Although I think him being silent and just relentlessly attacking is more scary. But, yeah, I think it can behave just like him so there is that. I could make him dress up like the real Helios so it's extra mind screwy.

Oh that's nice. They sound creepy. ):

[identity profile] lina-revolution.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Saaaay there's a thought. The creations just can't kill you. Nothing says that they can't knock you out and lock you in a closet for a bit. And yes, a Mirror!Helios that doesn't even bother with the snarky banter and gets right to the killing? We've got something here.

Link and I also realized that they could be a good excuse for people to get separated all over the village.

Lol locked in a closet. He wouldn't be as fun but he would still be menacing and just down right nasty. )8

There's a thought! It would be amusing walking to the grocery store and having some random ass phantom hands pull you through the ground and you end up back at your house or apartment. Good exercise!

The only downside is that this means we can't do the mental mindscrewing of Robert. Oh, well. Suppose that's a job for another experiment.

Oh, and - *smacks upside the head* talk to your pet scientist already, jeez!

They only do walls, I'm afraid. But otherwise? Yep. Some good has to come out of this insanity.

[identity profile] goddmoddingly.livejournal.com 2011-07-23 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah true, but there's always later for that. /cackles

Baw plz to not be smacking Helios upside the head. He just feels super guilty, okay? ;_;

Just wait until Giles and everyone run into hollows and menos grandes and stuff. Bleach canon ftw?!

Bleach canon ftw. Up to a point.

Yeaaah not up to the ridiculous point.

Same correction I gave to Hickumu here - in Ocarina, they come from the ceiling, not the walls. So one COULD grab someone going grocery shopping! \o/

/raises hand

/snorts at unintentional reference

They don't really come out of the walls in Ocarina, actually (although they did in the original LoZ). The reason your shadow grows is because if the lighting is coming from straight above (as it is in most of the game), your shadow is around your feet. The reason your shadow is growing is because it's DIRECTLY OVERHEAD waiting to grab you 8D And you get dragged upwards. Presumably. We don't actually see HOW that happens, just Link screaming as this hand pulls him upwards before he wakes up at the front of the temple.

Really? The bitterness and fear totally wasn't obvious in the lurid descriptions X3.

More so or less so than Water Temple?

The Water Temple is actually my favourite! Pretty, full of puzzles, an awesome miniboss and boss...

Shadow Temple, however? Pure nightmare fuel D8

Pretty much. *sob*

Although I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in hating Jabu Jabu's Belly. I dislike it more than the Shadow Temple XD;;

It pulsates. That is not cool, man.

*shudder* That is never cool. The last dungeon I was in that pulsated was either Monstro's Stomach or the inside of Nina's sister from Breath of Fire IV. And a plot point in that game is you finding a sword strong enough to cut through a vein that's blocking your path. Ew, just...ew.

Well, she was already in incomprensible agony from being turned into said monstrous dungeon and she begged for her love interest to kill her by the end. Didn't walk away feeling terribly guilt, all things considered.

And then later in the game you find that you're one half of a god that's destined to destroy the world. If you pick the wrong dialogue options, the final boss is the rest of your party!

I do love this game series, but damn.

...Oh dear o.O What game is this?

[identity profile] lina-revolution.livejournal.com 2011-07-25 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Breath of Fire IV. Breath of Fire III is one of my favorite games ever - pretty much the first game I was ever exposed to - and Breath of Fire IV was only a small step down. But damn - for early PS1 games that had barely mastered cell shading, the storylines could be brutal.
