Luceti Valley part II: The Plottening

Okay everyone, time for a follow up announcement for the upcoming event! This post not only will have a timeline for the event, but will also reveal the rest of its details. Otherwise, this is a post where you show off your completed AUs, as well as continue plotting.

Before that, just a reminder that we’re looking for a new mod. This is a pretty big deal, because the game won’t be able to run very smoothly if we don’t get someone else on the job. So if you have what it takes, be sure to apply!

First off, here are some clarifications that came up in the Questions section on the last post.

  • Characters will not have wings. Even non-affected characters will seem to lose their wings for the duration of the event. Likewise, their barcodes will be missing as well.

  • Character pets that aren’t typical cats and dogs will be kept in a special zoo in the town. They will be depowered, but they won’t have their memories altered. They won’t be able to communicate with their owners, nor will their owners remember them.

  • Non-affected characters can still have their own AUs. So even if you choose to play non-affected or have to miss the event due to hiatus, you can still come up with an AU that other characters will be aware of. Just plot along with others and give them a heads up on what the situation will be.

  • The setting is not strictly 1950s America, though it is heavily inspired by it. And while it does not exactly take place on ‘Earth’, it’s fair game to make use of stuff like Elvis, the latest Hitchcock film, and so on. The fact that there is a prevalent aristocracy should make it clear that it’s a bit different from typical Earth, however.

  • Race and sexuality are not a large issue in this society. While there are certainly expected norms (a mother and father with two kids is considered normal and ideal), there’s not too much discrimination for those who don’t fit the mold, although it can certainly exist and you are allowed to play with that if you want. Discrimination largely comes in the form of the different classes and those who try to cross those lines are considered deviants by both sides.

  • About ten years prior to this event’s setting, there will have been a war with a foreign nation: the Kin’cora Republic and Ratanera (of which Luceti Valley is a part of). The war lasted about two years and ended with a rather dismal defeat, which had an effect of greatly killing the fighting spirit of the Ratanerans. Although the war was a draft, most of the aristocracy easily avoided having their own being drawn into it. Those playing working class and middle class characters old enough to have been drafted are welcome to come up with reasons on why their characters weren’t involved if they choose.

  • Check out this spreadsheet. It lists characters participating in the event and was made by one of our players shortly after the first mod post. If you haven’t already added your character, then feel free to go ahead and do so!

Also, there is a map of Luceti Valley! Some things to note while looking at the map:
  • The Community Housing buildings are gone, as are some of the other Luceti built buildings. The Battle Dome is now just a large hill. A perfectly normal hill. There isn’t anything under it, honest!
  • Lake Catheria is where the aristocracy live in their mansions. This is where the richest of the rich convene where they can distance themselves from the rabble.
  • Hightown is the home of the middle class and where all the notable stores and businesses are. The rich and poor both come here to do their shopping, but only the well off can afford to live here.
  • Lowtown is home of the working class and the poor. Many of these homes are a little run down, but the people aren’t living in filth or anything like that.
  • Historic Luceti is the part of town that existed before the Catherians took over. There’s plenty of historic shops here and is home largely to the middle class.
  • The map is not purely to scale and there ARE paved roads, they’re just not shown on the map. Feel free to imagine your characters living anywhere their class allows them to. Since there’s so much space, there’s no need to go dibsing particular houses to call your own. Just a general vicinity should be enough.

Now, with those points out of the way, we move on to the true purpose of the event. About halfway through this ten day event, it will become more apparent things are not quite right. People might have these strange thoughts like, “Isn’t it weird that my kid looks nothing like me?” or “My dad seems pretty young looking.” The sort of thoughts that people might have in a moment of existential crisis, but quickly discard because they realize it’s silly and that there’s no point in being paranoid. Of course, these kind of disquieting notions will only seem to grow as the days move on. People might start to question why it is they never bothered to leave Luceti Valley, why they don’t seem to know a whole lot outside of their little home town, and why certain people (NPCs) don’t seem to stand out as much as other people do.

Those who begin to openly question things like this will find that it only leads them to trouble. The police force, a quiet and sometimes ominous presence, will be only too glad to take these people to the police station, let them spend a few hours there, and be ‘relieved’ of such concerns. If these characters are successfully taken to the police station, they’ll stop having these doubts and questions... at least for a little while. But as time pressed on, the police will stop being less discreet and will start openly looking for anybody who isn’t playing their part.

And then of course, there’s the Lord Mayor himself. While the aristocracy adore him, the middle class want to be him and though the poor loathe him they can’t help but be envious; there’s no questioning his power. After all, he owns the textile factory and half the town, is the richest and most attractive man in town, has a calming effect on pets and children, and is heralded in the papers as one of the most successful businessmen in the entire world. Who else could it be but the illustrious Lord Mayor Zompano?

Indeed, this event is no experiment. It’s an invasion. The former Count has rallied his new cultist allies and managed to not only break into Luceti itself, but also ensnare its occupants with an elaborate Shift that combines the technology kept in John’s laboratory, Zompano’s telepathic abilities, and the powers of a multitude of Dream Shifters. The policemen and guards at the mental ward are not just fictional creations of a Shift, but are in fact cultists in disguise that are trying to maintain the illusion. The Third Party has not only invaded Luceti, but they’ve already won. Their end game is simple. If Zompano can keep the inhabitants pacified for two entire weeks, he’ll dominate their minds forever. After all, where else can you find the best soldiers in the world than in the Malnosso’s most prized enclosure?

Over the second half of the event, Lucetians will have to figure out what’s going on and break free of the illusion before it’s too late. Doing this will require several things:
    • Locating John and freeing him, so that he can assist them in removing the Shift that blocks powers. There will be a sign up for this. Only someone who is non-affected and committed to the asylum will have a chance of hearing about him and devising a plan to rescue him.
    • Freeing the animals from the zoo for those characters who will need them to fight.
    • Discovering the Lord Mayor’s weapon collection that he keeps in his mansion (this is where all the character’s weapons are being kept).
    • Reclaiming John’s laboratory to undo the Shifts that are at the source of this.
    • Defeat the Dream Shifters that are maintaining the illusion.
    • And lastly, someone to kill Zompano himself. There will also be a sign up for this.

Over the course of these last few days, characters will not regain their memories. In fact, they’ll continue to believe in the AU they are a part of, even if it is increasingly obvious that things aren’t the way they should be. It is only on the last day, after Zompano is defeated, they will remember their old lives.

However, characters will receive their powers and weapons again. Once they start to wield them, old instincts will kick in and they’ll experience a smooth learning curve as they re-master their old abilities. So in that situation, a character will be surprised they are super strong and will not only have to adjust to this change, but relearn how to properly use it. A swordsman will pick up his sword again and be surprised that the weight is agreeable to them and will seems to just be a natural when it comes to learning the weapon again. Naturally this may result in dramatic or hilarious results.

It will also be discovered that John is still in Luceti. There were already rumors of “The Mad One” that was hidden away in the asylum. These rumors will turn out to be true and there is in fact a red-skinned man being held in a secret basement, constantly being tortured for information by his jailkeeper. Someone stealthy will have to sneak into the asylum, locate him, and bring him to somewhere safe. As stated before, only a non-affected character will have a chance to save him.

So here’s a timeline of events for how the event will unfold.

Day 1 - The textile factory enters its third month on strike.
Day 2 - An ordinary day.
Day 3 - Homecoming Dance at the high school.
Day 4 - Another ordinary day.
Day 5 - The newspaper announce a tax hike aimed at the poor and working class which was approved and voted on by the aristocracy officials. This causes tensions to come to a boiling point. The Lord Mayor will have appeared to have resisted this tax increase, making him appear sympathetic.
Day 6 - Characters will begin to start questioning their reality. Those who openly question it will be temporarily detained by the police for questioning.
Day 7 - As more people begin to discuss their own existential doubts, the police become more aggressive in reining people in.
Day 8 - John will be rescued from the asylum’s secret basement where he’s been kept prisoner while being tortured for information. Although not in much shape to assist them, he will give them the instructions they need to remove the Shift blocking their powers.
Day 9 - The battle to save Luceti will begin. After removing the anti-powers Shift, they’ll need to reclaim their weapons/pets. And then from there, battle the cultists, track down the Dream Shifters, and eventually someone will come face to face with Zompano himself.
Day 10 - The altered memories will begin to break away at this point in which the characters come to grips with their true lives. The Malnosso will begin restoring the village to its previous state and things that were present in the AU will begin to disappear. By the end of the day, Luceti will appear to have never been changed at all.

And that’s it! Below you’ll find some special threads. One for Mod Questions, as always. A second thread will be for people who are still looking for family members. All you need to do is post with your character stating what you have already and what you’re looking for. After that, there will be sign up threads for finding John and defeating Zompano.

    Prior plotting stuff.

And to repost final decisions ATM:

Billy is William, the son of Tony and Pepper, aristocratic-class. Secretly BFFs/dating Teddy, a boy in the middle class so obviously that should cause some drama. Fusses about formality a lot when he's with strangers or fellow aristos, insists on being called his full name. Teddy and family members (if they choose) are the only ones who can shorten it. (He accepts Billy and Will from them, respectively.) Korra has a crush on him, so she'll be his fake-date to the prom; he saw Teddy dating Wanda and it seemed like a GREAT idea. (It isn't.) They'll be sneaking away during prom and totally get caught dancing/macking somewhere private. Because Reasons.

Edward is still the son of Trisha and Hohenheim. They are middle-class! And Artemis is his little sis. Ed's very protective, and the family runs a grocery store. Ed grudgingly works there, but he'd rather be doing science experiments. For Reasons. He's not in school and AFAIK not seeing anyone- very science-minded and stubborn. He sneaks off to the library a lot to study and reads during his grocery shifts. Truth be told he's a terrible worker.

Asch is Luke's brother, a disowned aristocrat hiding out in the middle-class area, also dating Rapunzel. Asch and Luke's parents ran a manufacturing company, but Asch pissed them off and was thus disowned, due to the issues he had with how the company was run, and how the workers were treated. Now that their parents are gone, the company's passed on to Luke, but he doesn't want it and keeps insisting that Asch return. Asch hates the mass-manufacturing (because ewww replicas, fuck that) and wants to commit to a change in how it's managed, but he's stung by the rejection of his parents up until their deaths, so he's decided to wash his hands of the whole issue and pursue another career on his own. Luke will just be finding Asch at the start of the event and lots of arguing will occur. The company their dad owned was Lorelei Inc.

Fluttershy is going to be humanized for the event, lower class. She is an orphan who grew up unadopted and therefore is the caretaker (or one of) the orphanage itself now. Come and cuddle under her wings, all the little children...! She's also in the early days of a relationship with Vash and is super shy about it.

What I'm looking for: I'm good for family, but what about friends? Most of the friends/associates should be of similar class, but my characters aren't picky (Fluttershy won't care more than any of the others). Old CR and new 100% welcome :B

Also, who are Flutter's little orphans? Come hither, I need to know who she'll be chasing around and giving The Stare.

Also also, with powers being returned... well, Billy's powers officially manifested as lightning and almost killed someone. Anyone feel like getting dramatically zapped for some horrible fun? 8D (he can also heal if that's a concern lolol)

Here's what I've had worked out so far! Still happily looking for more friends and such!

Vash: (Age around 28-32) Is Vegeta's brother and Bulla's uncle. Vash was born into the aristocrat society, but it just didn't suit him. So he left to find his own way and place in the world and is part of those on strike at the Malnosso Textiles Inc. Wanting to see that the workers (himself included) get enough pay to live comfortable on. Of course, this has left him having a bit of trouble making the bills himself. He'll work on it.

He's also a past boyfriend of Makie. In the end the relationship was ended fairly mutually and now they're just really close friends.

Right now he's just started to date Fluttershy and finds her to total babe. Er, he means beautiful! Got to treat a woman like Fluttershy with class!

While Vash doesn't particularly LIKE to talk about his aristocrat background, he hasn't changed his name at all and he cares about his family. It's just never personally suited him. He can see problems between the classes, but tends to just change the subject. He'd rather people didn't KNOW, but he doesn't lie if asked outright. Otherwise he avoids the subject. People are welcome to know this about him and be frustrated at him for throwing away what could be seen as an "easy life" or just feel like he doesn't belong in the lower class. Although I do want him to mostly live a normal "low class" life so would like at least some people okay with it.

Still lots of room to add friends/family/ect into his background!

Xzana: (Age: 28) She'll be turned human for this event and currently she is the Aunt to Kitten younger sister to Kitten's mother. Who lives next door to Kitten, Mavis, and Derek, and likes to stop in and check on the three of them nearly daily. She works part time as a receptionist for the local paper. (Subject to change if I think of something better before the event starts up or if I find a husband for her as then she can be a stay at home wife.)

I would love to find her more friends to hang out with. Or even a family!

    So! As of right now:

Flora is the daughter of Brigid Tenenbaum, though due disagreements on Brigid's job (She works at the asylum as a doctor) Flora moved out as soon as she could, sending her from lower/middle class to near-poverty. She ended up dropping out of high school so she could make ends meet by working at the factory, though a while before this she almost seriously injured herself on the job, and quit to try and find somewhere better to work.

Flora's boyfriend is Norman Jayden. He still works at the factory despite the strikes, so she tries to help the striking workers as much as she can while still being somewhat discreet about it. She wants Jayden to have better work conditions, but doesn't want to get him in trouble through her involvement. Also, Hershel Layton is a good friend, and helps her out whenever she needs it.

I would still like Some friends and casual acquaintances! Flora's pretty set as far as family goes, but she's definitely lacking in the friends department. It would also be cool to have some people she might not get along with and/or people she'd argue with frequently.

    Only Nagato Here

    [personal profile] teachingpeace 2013-07-28 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
    Final decisions!

Nagato is a 35 year old middle class college professor whose subject is history. I am more than happy to collect a pile of students or colleagues to interact with for the event.

He's married to Konan, his childhood sweetheart, and they have one child, who was adopted. That would be Elie! They're expecting their first born child currently.

He's also got a twin sister, Kushina, and he's good friends with her husband Minato, who often teamed up with him to try to keep an eye on her when they were still in school.

    Stuffed Animals!
Konan gets flowers, Ikki gets Birds, Chien gets lizards, Naruto gets frogs, Minato gets frogs/stuffed knives, Barnaby gets bunnies, Kakashi gets dogs, Tenten gets various odd stuffed weapons (usually hammers), Elie gets kitties, and Kushina gets chili peppers.

Enjoy! Tell me if I missed anything!

Robert Lutece will be locked away in Bilirubin Institute. His story is that after his twin died (especially as the loss came shortly after the death of his younger sister, the wife of Booker DeWitt), Robert lost his mind. He started seeing his twin, talking with her, and became generally unstable. He is currently undergoing treatment, and the prognosis is grim for his mental health.

Faith Long is engaged to Saleh. She is from a moderately wealthy family and enjoys teaching home economics at the school, helping the girls who attend her class become future homemakers.

David Long is from among the top echelons of society with much of his money invested in the success of the factories. He cares about the bottom line and the importance of breeding. He is very rich and, as he will point out, did not get that way by letting rebellious workers get their way. He has two children, Patty Lefleur and Cato.

Clove is the daughter of Jack Horner and Anya and the sister of Katniss. She is dating one of the school's athletes, Cato, a long-standing relationship that is considered to be very serious by the school gossips.

Norman Jayden is a lower class worker trying to save up the money he needs to propose to his sweetheart Flora. He works as a scab for one of the local factories, taking the abuse that comes with being used as a strike-breaker because it means one more paycheck to buy what his future family needs to get by. He is the brother of Chris Redfield.

So I didn't throw up a plotting thing in the last one because I had like, nothing to put up but now...here we go?

Vegeta is the CEO of Capsule Corp (with his beautiful genius wife Bulma being the brains behind the operation of course) so he's a cutthroat businessman who seriously could not care less about the poor at all. But what he is is hiring for anyone with engineering skills for the automobile business he runs, and scientists for all the backdoor stuff he's got in the works. He's a rough guy with a temper but if it's a good deal and will benefit him in the end, he's willing to listen. And money isn't the only thing he speaks, he'd like more power in the town even though he'll never have more than the Mayor ofc

I'm still also looking for someone to be his son, if anyone is interested.

Yuuna More details on her tomorrow after I talk some things out. I haven't hammered anything out with her yet (And what I have done I've got to talk more with people about first.)

    [personal profile] halfnhalf 2013-07-28 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
    Prior plotting!

    And final decisions:

Teddy: He goes by Theodore, and he's the son of Steve and Peggy, the middle of their children and the only male between two siblings, Mia and Primrose. His family is in the middle class, though he knows that his dad used to be part of the aristocracy. He's secretly bffs/dating William aka Billy, who's part of the aristocracy, so that'll probably cause some drama. Teddy himself believes that he's supposed to pass on the family name and thus find a wife and such and such, so he's afraid of disappointment and rejection (or worse, being kicked out, since he knows his dad was kicked out). He's dating Wanda, a lower class girl, to try and cover for this, though he's been seriously thinking of breaking things off lately (they weren't dating very long anyway). Personality-wise, he's quite kind and patient, rather unlike his looks (he looks like a jock, possibly moreso in this era). He has dreams of becoming an actor on the stage, or even on the big screen, but figures that he wouldn't be successful in that, so he's buried it to pursue football instead.

Luke: The younger brother of Asch, Luke is firmly in the aristocratic area, though his caretakers make him spend more time at his company, Lorelei Inc., than his own home. At the age of 10, Luke suffered from a severe head injury at the corporation that caused him to be hospitalized and diagnosed with amnesia, remembering little to nothing of his life, as well as frequent, randomized and powerful headaches. Because of this, his shortcomings as a result of that, and Asch becoming just as dismissive to him as his father, Luke has become something of an angry teen, though he still has quite a bit of compassion in him. He's prone to tantrums, quick to defend himself, and seems perpetually annoyed by his life in general. He hates his job, not only because he feels he's not cut out for it, but also because of the incident he can't remember. Thus, he wants to find Asch, not only to ask questions that have been on his mind for a while, but also to ask him to take over. His best friend is Tear, seemingly the only one who really understands what he's going through.

What I'm looking for: Friends for both, but Luke especially! Tear is the only concrete friend I have for him, and he really, really could use more, seeing how his life kind of really sucks.

Riku is the eldest son of the Kida Clan, an aristocratic family. During his high school years, he pushed himself to get high marks in order to live up to the family name, though he found himself drawn more to extracurricular activities such as swimming and other sports. Now he's two years out of high school, married Ino, and striving to provide her the best lifestyle possible.

At this point, I'm trying to work out a career for him. I'll need to talk to Zero to hash out details about his parents, as that would likely affect his business status.

What I do know is that Riku's not a particularly snooty sort.

Ventus is eighteen years old and a high school senior. He grew up on the streets as a poor kid and wound up joining Gold's gang. However, while some in his position may harbor resentment towards those more fortunate, Ven at least tries to assume a cheery attitude, hoping that someday he'll be able to find a better future. One where he and his girlfriend Fuuko can live happily ever after, despite the huge class gap setting them apart.

I'm still trying to sort out a few things-- living situation and all that. I'm sorta tempted to have had him wind up in the orphanage at least for a time, but for the most part, it's still a pretty blank slate overall.

Rainbow Dash I am still working out deets for. She may end up as Konan's sister, and she's being courted by Masaomi. Beyond that, I'm thinking she'll act as a sports coach or instructor at the high school. If anyone would like to play with that idea-- students and the like, I'd be happy to hash things out. Currently, she's the one I need to plot out the most for.

    Previous plotting thread.

And to reiterate what I've got so far and would like to get still.

Gold is an orphan who takes care of himself and those who've earned his companionship. His mother's a deceased NPC who had to raise him on her own before succumbing to illness. His dad's actually an aristocrat but Gold has no idea who his dad is, nor does he care to find out. He's also the leader of the street gang The Goggles, a group of mischievous teenagers that are rather infamous in Luceti. Aside from their obnoxious behavior, lack of concern for proper societal rules, and general disregard for others, they're not that bad. Unfortunately they've gathered a bit of a bad rap in Luceti thanks to other ne'erdowells who operate in the shadows. Since The Goggles are out in the open and known for their mischief, they get blamed. He has a sweetheart in the form of Crystal and he's totally gonna pick her up for the prom on his sweetass motorcycle, which he affectionately refers to as "Explotaro".

Asbel is the eldest son of the Lhant family, an aristocratic family that owns Luceti's vehicle repair franchise. He had a falling out with his parents because, despite being the firstborn, he had no interest in taking up the family business, so he passed his birthright onto his younger sister Asami, who had a natural talent for repair and was much more suited for the job. He's married to Haruhi Lhant (née Suzumiya), who owns the clothing store, which he helps her manage on an executive level. He generally supports his wife in her many endeavors, appreciating how ambitious she is. Together they have one child, Diamond.

Haru is the son of Shuda. His mother was locked up in the insane asylum and later died. He has an older sister, Raine, whom he's very protective of. Very protective of. God help you if you upset or hurt his sister, seriously. He's a lower class boy, who maintains a job as a carpenter to help support his family. He's in a puppy love romance with Elie, who was an employee at a store he was hired to do some repairs for in the past. It was love at first sight for them.

    What I'm looking for:
Well, I think I'm good on the family front, though I wouldn't object to someone stepping forward to offer to be Gold's illegitimate father.

What I AM looking for is relationships! People who are members of Gold's gang, aristocratic friends for Asbel, and general acquaintances for Haru! Also really curious how real world CR is affected by this experiment! Would our characters still know each other? Would their relationship change?

    -Father to Donatello and Norma
-Was drafted into the war 10 years ago despite his disability. He still has some mental scars from the war which have effected his relationship with his family.
-Construction worker and jack of all trades who frequently moves between jobs due to his deafness and chronic seizure disorder (that isn't so much a disorder as his body going through celebre withdrawals due to minimal dosages)

-Has a friend in Peggy who comes to visit regularly

    Bolin
-Orphaned during the war 10 years ago and sent to the orphanage.

-He has over time brought other boys in Luceti Valley under his wing so they can choose their own paths.
-Currently dating Asami and dated Korra for a while before she dumped him.

    CURRENT AU PLANS GO:
Pilouette is the eldest daughter of the wealthy banker, Mr. Panda and older sister to Tsuna and Toph. She grew up being coddled and spoiled by her father, getting whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted it. Along with that she's been raised to conform to the aristocratic attitude and lifestyle so she has something of a disdain for the lower class people. UGH. POOR PEOPLE. However, she's reluctant to express this attitude out loud or even in public because she's at least aware of the tensions between classes. She also feels SOME responsibility towards her younger siblings partially because...well, they're siblings and partially because if they get into trouble it's going to make the whole family look bad, so even with them she gets a little snooty and annoyed (though it's in a somewhat nicer(?) way).

She's still a little awkward when it comes to making friends, but instead of doing what she can to try and please others as she would normally, with this AU, she's more likely to get a little haughty n' snotty. However, if someone gives her positive attention or expresses a positive interest towards her she'll be thrilled (She'll try not to show it though, she's too grown up for that shit.) She'll be going to the dance with Shinji, though she's kind of unsure because gosh he's just so...POOR.

Current plans include getting dragged along with Tsuna to rescue his pet on day 9 because she's not about to let him end up in jail or something and being snotty annoying rich kids with Adam/Beast.

I'm up for all kinds of AU shenanigans. If people want to be rich kid friends or if people want to hassle her.

Natasha: is from an aristocratic family, the oldest of three daughters (the other two being Katniss and Kate). She's a professional ballerina and loves it and fully intends to continue pursuing it despite her parents' not-so-subtle hints to find a nice man and settle down already.

She's already caused the family one scandal - that of having a daughter, Rue, who is now teenager and already following in her mother's with her love of dance. And shh, we're ignoring how Natasha has a teenage daughter who's not all that much younger than her own sisters. Rue's father is a huge unknown, a secret Natasha's never shared with her family, not even her daughter, despite the uproar it caused when it happened. She's fiercely protective of her daughter, however, despite raising her mostly on her own, and also dotes on her younger sisters, all of them united in the common struggle of wanting to pursue their own paths while dealing with controlling and overbearing parents with 'plans' for their futures.

She is going to be questioning things quite a bit as the days wear on, because yes, she has skills and instincts she shouldn't have. Not to mention, this won't be the first time she's had false memories and a false life implanted in her brain. Things will stick out as odd but if she does anything about it remains to be seen.

Artemis: has become an Elric and totally taken Al's place. She's the daughter of Trisha and Hohenheim and sister to Ed. The family runs a small grocery store for the middle class folks and Artemis takes more interest in the running of things than her brother. She's not very good at being a girl and ladylike, although she's a little envious of those that can pull it off. Still, she's pretty confident in herself mostly and her place in the grand scheme of things. She has a boyfriend, Virgil, and has friends from both the middle and lower class that she hangs out with on occasion. For the most part, she'll go with the flow on the event as a whole and might be persuaded into the fighting if the whim strikes her right.

Simon: is lower class. He and his brother Jack have always been that way and were raised by their mother, who served as a maid in Vastra's household. Their father is an unknown aristocrat who dallied with their mother and got her pregnant and was never heard from again, making it a hard life for the young woman raising two young boys. It's instilled a severe mistrust and dislike of all things high class in Simon, especially after their mother passed away a few years ago, leaving the boys alone. Simon dropped out of school to work and to support him and Jack, helping out in Vastra's household still because he feels forever indebted to her, and working anywhere else he can find jobs that pay, doing odd jobs, construction, anything. He's very protective of Jack and distrustful of his brother's new friends, not liking that they're dragging him more and more into the high society life. he's also protective of Sam, a young man he took under his wing after some harsh family problems of his own, especially when his friend shows an alarmingly loose grasp on reality.

Simon will probably question his life a little less than the other two of mine, but he's not afraid to fight and is fiercely protective of his 'family' - the blood one and those he's been drawn together with by circumstance.

What I'm looking for: I think for the most part I have family ties pretty well established. If someone wants to toss friendships our acquaintances or casual connections my way, I'm completely open to that too. :D

    previously in plotting land...

    So far for Miss Selphie:

We have a Dad in the form of one Smoker and an older brother in Phoenix Ikki! She's recently turned 18 and will be a recent high school grad working as a receptionist. Would anyone be interested in a receptionist for their company?

Depending on how plotting goes, Selphie may find herself in an extended family as well.

    Final details for Loki

    [personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-07-28 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
OKAY. So here is what I have on his background:

    - Black sheep. His whole family is like lawyers and socialites and politicians. He wanted to go be an actor. He actually is adopted, but has known that the whole time, it's just not been public knowledge.

    - The law firm was Odin and Odinson because lulz. And Odin wanted it to be Odin, Odinson, and Odinson. ;)

    - Loki went to law school because dad made him. Did well because he's smart. But once he got out he was like "I want to try to do this for myself first, and then if it doesn't work, I'll come work at the firm and shut up about it." Meaning he wanted to go try to make it on his own as an actor. SCANDAL.

    - This all came to a head after Loki had passed the bar and set himself up with some auditions and wanted to leave the house to go to those. There was a ridiculous and horrible argument with Odin (with Thor trying to play interference because he did love his little bro even if he thought Loki was being dumb) and there were harsh words and Odin threatened to disown Loki and Loki did the teenager WELL I HOPE YOU DIE thing and stomped out of the house.

    - Loki got the part he wanted and immediately after got a phone call letting him know that Odin was in a coma and Thor was dead in a tragic car accident.

    - Investigation showed the car accident was caused because the brake lines of the car had been cut. Now, Loki had a good enough alibi, but someone who had overheard the argument leaked the story that Odin had threatened to disown Loki.

    - Frigga, unable to bear the double whammy of a dead oldest son and a husband who might as well be dead, is now in a mental institution BUT WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THAT. Adele had to step up and take her place in society to keep that hush-hush. (Adele is also the one that took mom to the asylum and committed her because Loki COULDN'T. Because he was the mommy's boy.)

    - Feeling utterly tragic and hating life, Loki took over the law firm and tried to be a good lawyer because GUILT and DADDY ISSUES and SOB BROOOOTHEEEEERRRR. He's now a heartless cut throat lawyer type who is basically a bitter, lonely, empty suit.

    Additional:
    - The person who convinced Loki to take the auditions and try to live his dream (which ultimately caused the argument and maybe the accident) was his cousin Steve. Then when Loki took over the law firm and became a super heartless alcoholic lawyer they had a GIANT ARGUMENT about Loki throwing his dreams away and becoming a giant asshole.

    - Konan is one of Loki's university friends; they met when he was taking arts courses on the sly.

    - Loki is basically Tony Stark's personal and corporate lawyer. Additionally Tony was friends (/rivals) with Thor, and has known Loki most of his life. And was around when Loki had a horrific emotional breakdown at the funeral.

Elizabeth is Booker DeWitt's daughter and Robert Lutece's niece. She's secretly seeing Gai Tsutsugami, her handsome rich boyfriend (who, yeah, maybe she started seeing because he's rich and her dad's been displaced--BUT IT IS LOOOOOVE). She's also friends with Eleanor Lamb, they met in school.

I'm interested in Elizabeth feeling awkward and out of place in Luceti Valley pretty early on, and I'd like her to have at least one re-education day courtesy of the police. Once the battle starts... things are up in the air at the moment. |Db

Vastra is a rich aristocratic lady whose social life took a steep dip after the death of her wife. She has two sons, Max and Eugene, and one little cuckoo-son Jack who used to do things around the house for her. And then she realized having a lower-class person around the house made it less likely that her kids would grow up to be classist jerks and thus Jack was adopted and passed off as her 'third son' at various upper class events (FOR FUN AND... OKAY, JUST FUN). Simon is coming too. She's also friends with Trisha.

Once the battle starts, Vastra's going to snap back into what she does best--kicking the crap out of Dream Shifters with her sons. 83 She might be fairly badly wounded during the battle given she might not have all her senses back right away.

sorry in advance for the long bios. I'm just tired of re-writing this already. xD

Steve: Steve was born into an aristocratic family, the oldest son of two. He was raised to carry on with the family business, but as he got older he ended up going into a completely different direction. He became disgusted with the way the aristocratic class treated the lower classes and was very vocal about his views. This distanced him greatly from his parents and many of his friends. Steve eventually fell in love with art and cast aside all thoughts of carrying on the family business. The job then fell to Bucky. Eventually the family business was taken to court and sued for faulty equipment. Steve was one of many who agreed to testify against them. This resulted in him being disowned.

All ties with his family were cut, with the exception of his brother and his two cousins. Finally embracing his independence, Steve sought to help Loki do the same by encouraging him to chase his dreams to be an actor. However this resulted in a huge fight between Loki and his father Odin, who soon after died in a tragic car accident with his other son Thor. Loki blamed Steve and his encouragement for their deaths and for the miserable life as a lawyer that he now lives. Steve confronted him about it once and things have been awkward and strained between them ever since. At some point he met Peggy, a wealthy woman from an aristocratic family, who shared his views and leave her family behind in order to marry him. They have three children, Mia, Primrose, and Theodore. He gets a job as an art and history teacher to support his family. He eventually takes up a coaching position on the football team so he can be there to support his son. Occasionally he would sell some of his art on the side, which is how he was discovered by Pepper Stark who asked him to be one of the artists for her gallery.

Additional facts: Steve was already a member of the middle class when the war began and thus was drafted to fight. It was during the war that he met and befriended his future co-worker Kakashi, and they've been close ever sense.

Steve will also be one of the ones questioning things a bit as the event goes on as he is way too young to have accomplished this much stuff in his life time. Not to mention that his kids are almost grown ups.

Belle: Belle was abandoned by her mother at a very young age, left to grow up on the streets alone. She had vague memories of a brother by no idea what happened to him. When she was about eight she was taken in by Saori’s aristocratic family and raised to help work on the farm. Over the years she grew quite close to Saori, who was known to be the black sheep of her family. She made friends with many people, despite their class, such as fellow working class Gai, Isaac, and Zevran. As well as middle class Eleanor, who often buys things from her farm. She uses her special position to help out her friends in need, such as Isaac and Zevran, who she often brings leftover vegetables to. Near the beginning of the event Belle finds her long lost brother, Aang, and takes him in to work the farm with her. They both decide to start looking for their mother. There’s also this guy Adam who is from the aristocratic class, but Belle doesn’t like him very much.

Additional facts: Belle will probably remain blissfully unaware of all the weirdness until late into the plot. Unless someone brings it to her attention sooner.

Asami Lhant: Is eighteen, and the daughter of nebulous unclassified parents who own a chain of garages/handymen repair service stations and are rather upper-class, though Asami has friends across all the classes because people are cool and she enjoys annoying her parents.

She tends to manage the family business, something that was supposed to go to her brother but he passed it onto her when he had his own plans (and she doesn't mind at all because weeee cars). She has a tendency to date a bit below her station (with exceptions like Masaomi) because she doesn't care, and because it bothers her parents.

    - Brother is Asbel, who is married to Haruhu and has a son, Dia.
    - Treats Toph like a little sister.
    - Senior in high school when she doesn't skip for work.
    - Loves cars OMG you don't know.
    - Street Racer.
    - Has dated Masaomi...probably a few times!
    - Dated (is dating?) Bolin at some point.
    - Has a rivalry/dislike of Korra.
    - Friends with Zatanna, Kate

Needs: Extended family? Uncles, cousins, another sibling. There's room for non-npc parents somewhere.

    Eleanor:

    - Family is her mother Pascal, her brother Rin and her little sister Sophie.
    - Brigid Tenenbaum is her aunt on her father's side, which makes Flora her cousin.
    - Middle Class or Working Class I think?
    - Rich Uncle Richard (I think?)
    - Very close with and tends to dote a bit on Sophie.
    - Being the older girl and with Pascal and her workaholic tendencies, probably manages a lot of the day-to-day family things like cooking and cleaning.
    - Is HAPPY. (THIS IS IMPORTANT.)
    - Still has a lot of body issues and self-esteem issues anyway.
    - But HAPPY.
    - Has a little home-repair business fixing lamps and radios and stuff.
    - Or making them worse sometimes it is a crapshoot.
    - Really wants to go to homecoming.
    - Friends with Belle, whom she met buying things on the Farm she works on, and Elizabeth so far.

Needs - Relationships. Ex's or currents!
    - Friends.

New additions - so I am thinking that the reason the Lhants own all the repair shops is that when their owners died during the war, the family swept in and vulture bought them. Asami would have been eight and Abel 10 and as they grew up knowing this it might explain some of their tendencies towards not wanting to do what their parents say.

Katniss is the older daughter of Jack and Anya Horner, sister to Clove. She's a recent high school graduate and an heiress to the family wealth, so hasn't really bothered looking for a job. Instead, she's recently engaged to her lower class boyfriend - Jim Kirk - and has moved in with him and his son, Loki (much to her parents' displeasure). She spends most of her time working on wedding planning and trying to win Loki's affections as his step-mom-to-be.

She'll probably be involved in the battle in some way, since she's not exactly the sort of personality to sit still when there's something threatening her family.

Kate or Katherine Romanoff is the middle child of an aristocratic family. Her older sister is Natasha and her twin (younger by only a few minutes) is Katara. She's a champion equestrian and has grown up in a life of relative ease and luxury - especially given Natasha acting as the black sheet of the family. But life isn't perfect. When she was fourteen, she was assaulted after cutting home through a park late at night (just like in canon). She's been quiet about this event, only ever really telling her BFF Teddy. She dated Masaomi in high school only to break up with him after discovering he was dating her twin sister as well. Currently, she's dating Clint Barton in an act of teenage rebellion against her pressuring parents.

And she'll definitely be active when things start to go bad in Luceti.

Both need more friends. I'm open to any ideas/suggestions!

    James T. Kirk

    [personal profile] universal_charm 2013-07-28 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Kirk is a middle-class motorbike repairman and builder. Both of his parents died when he was young, so he's been making it own his own for awhile and wants to keep it that way, hence his own business - though he has potentially contemplated looking for another job that pays higher to help support his growing family.

He is the single dad to Loki, whom he loves with all his heart and tries to do his best by, and currently lives with and is engaged to Katniss Horner, who he loves very much. (She's his Kitty Kat).

He's a friendly sort of guy and welcomes company at his shop, often trading honest work for a small, honest day's pay, parts, or mechanic lessons to anyone who wants to help out. The wedding is also drawing closer, so it's about time for a bachelor party for those who might want to participate in such a thing.

Most of this is discussed in various places elsewhere, but I figure that I'll try to make it concise.

Barnaby is the adopted son of the Hyuuga family, is 25 years old, in the final stages of earning his Graduate degree, and is quite happily in a relationship with Kakashi. Because of his romance and his breaching of class boundaries, he's become distanced from the extended portion of his aristocratic family, but remains on good terms with his sisters, Saori and Hinata, and his brother Neji. He's majoring in the sciences, predominantly with a mechanical bent, and he's considerably more emotionally balanced and happier.

Unfortunately, his own native observation skills and stubbornness remain, which leads to him questioning various aspects of his reality. I'd like for him to get taken in for 'questioning' at some point, and be detained for a good few hours because of his own stubborn drive to find a rational answer to this problem.

I would also like to deal with some 'accidents' when he discovers his powers and doesn't know how to properly monitor it. Something can and will be broken, so I'm open to any ideas about how to play this out.

Cliff on the other hand is quite the family man in this iteration. He's a war vet who has worked long and hard in the mill after their defeat. He's married to (shifted female) Souji and is quite proud of his son, Fayt. Unfortunately, a man needs to bring bread to the table, and he wanted to send his son to school no matter what.

The job at the textile mill just wasn't cutting it, so he took to doing engineering projects for Vegeta to make up for what he couldn't afford-- which was a lot. Now that he's gone on strike with many of his coworkers, these projects are the only way he can support his family...and it's left him much deeper in debt than he's comfortable.

Although he might not be openly aware of what's happening until later in the plot, he will fight tooth and nail for what he cares about. Further more, there's one thing that always holds true: he doesn't like following orders that he doesn't like.

If anyone has any burning ideas on what to do with either of my boys, drop a notice here. I'm open to ideas, especially regarding Cliff. I'd like to expand his CR a little with this event to include more adults, since he is sadly lacking in company that isn't in their teens or twenties.

    previous plotting thread

stuff that was hashed out for Cilan so far
+ A-class. Normally I suppose that would mean aristocracy, but A-class back in his world was only the second highest rank, as S-class is actually the highest class a person can be. So...I suppose for the purposes of this AU, he could be considered upper middle class rather than aristocracy unless adopted into a family otherwise. (He certainly dresses and acts very classy though, and you'd possibly think something like "A-class" when looking at his high marks from school.) May or may not be for the best, as deep down he has a slightly negative opinion regarding people who don't do their jobs because they think they have better things to be doing instead. >_>
+ Has a wide variety of interests (cooking, science, movies, etc.) and is clearly very knowledgeable in them, certainly could be considered a "connoisseur" of sorts. However, he has yet to decide which one is worth pursuing as a career option further rather than just as a hobby. In the meantime, he's a bit of a hired hand that can be called upon to assist people in whatever they need help with. (Like cooking and catering, or tutoring people in their studies, for example.)
+ Likes animals except for cats due to having a phobia of them, but for one reason or another he hasn't gotten a pet yet? But at least there's a zoo to visit once in a while when he's not busy...
+ What he really notices off at first is how some of the animals (his Pokemon) react towards him at the zoo. Once things start going down, he may possibly assist with freeing them later.

stuff that was hashed out for Crow too
+ A lower-class delinquent that tends to skip school most of the time, does graffiti and pick-pocketing, and occasionally bickers with other people, including the upper class kids.
+ He's kind of a loner and really rude, but he can get along with other people sometimes. He just...kind of sucks sometimes when it comes to being social, so he tends to argue a lot. But deep down he just wants friends!
+ In the event he doesn't end up with any family members, he'll likely be considered an orphan. Judging by his penchant for handstands and such, sometimes he likes to joke that his parents were circus performers or something.
+ He has very little memory regarding early childhood. Childhood accident involving a ferris wheel. (That's what he says anyway when asked, but he could be lying since he doesn't really remember the details himself.) Sometimes he wishes he could remember, but other times...well, it probably wasn't sunshine and rainbows anyway considering how he lives now.
+ Rather than things going on around him, anything he notices that's off at first will be things involving himself: noting that he hasn't been sleeping as much, isn't as hungry as before, etc...

what I'm looking for: everything and anything! I'm still looking for family, friends, or what not for both of them!!
