Concerning the battle:

You know how these draft posts are always obnoxiously long, even without the lists? Well, all of the info you need it up at the Nitpicker's Guide.

DRAFT AND ENEMY DETAILS CAN BE FOUND HERE

• First and foremost, MOST -IF NOT ALL- OF THE FIGHTING WILL BE ASSUMED; in other words, without mods playing the NPCs. If you absolutely must -MUST- play out something of great importance, please let me know and I'll provide an NPC, we can set up a log, something. But please, unless you need it for a specific purpose, don't ask for NPC battles. It will be largely uneventful and full of your character kicking ass and taking names and knocking down buildings and enemies, etc etc. This is to give you guys some freedom as well as keep us from a) getting overloaded and/or b) holding you back.
  
  
  
  
• Hey now... that's not a map! Well this time, there isn't one. The battle will be taking place in a thick, steamy tropical rain forest that not even the Malnosso have ever mapped. It is massive and dangerous, being one of the natural habitat of weld Shift Hunters, familiar creatures from the previous AU Event. But even they are not the most dangerous creatures present. Wild animals include a variety of large jungle cats, massive snakes, poisonous bugs and frogs, crocodiles, piranhas, and all manner of horrible creatures. There might even be a few jungle-related monsters from other canons running around out there.
  
  
• The forest is quite massive, but there will be three drop off points, each five miles from each other, in a triangular deployment. Among the many sights will include massive waterfalls, dangerous rocky rivers, swampy marshlands, and at the center of it all (around which the deployment zones are) is one massive tree, with a diameter of about a hundred feet across its base and standing over a thousand feet in height. The roots from the tree extent outwards for hundred of feet all around. Several other large sequoia sized trees are also present, many tangled together from the overgrowth of branches and vines.
  
  
• Signs of civilization exist amongst the branches of these large trees, including the largest one. These include crude tree houses, connected by rope bridges. They seem to be abandoned, but only recently. Buried or covered under overgrowth are the ruins of a past civilization, though the stony surfaces are long since worn away. What little writing remains is reminiscent of that in the old desert temple. Unfortunately there is too little left to be of any use. Some of these ruins may prove to be adequate shelter, but little more than that.
  
  
• Oh yeah and the Third Party is here. There is no specified number for how many there are. Despite being deployed for four days, the draftees will not be able to wipe them all out. In fact, on the last day, the draftees will be withdrawn from the battlefield once the enemy begins to overwhelm them in strength and numbers. Amongst those included will be a large host of normal soldiers, more Elites than previous battles, plenty of Shifters, and trained Shift Hunters.
  
  
• The Third Party are well accustomed to combat in the rainforest and will make great use of it in their attacks. They may even use elements of geurilla warfare to attack, as well as crude traps (such as nets, pits, snares, and other such things) against the draftees. They will be as comfortable fighting on the ground as they are in the treetops and may attempt to lure draftees into dangerous areas, where wild animals or other natural dangers can endanger them. On the last day, the forest will be receiving a monsoon, which will result in a massive downpour and flooding and raining and... yes, quite miserable.
  
  
• As for the IC announcement, the actual draft announcement will be handled differently. Expect that post to be on Monday-Wednesday.
  
  
• ALL IS NOT LOST. Because of how dangerous this all is, Bil has arranged to provide our heroes with some help. Namely, he'll be enabling them to use Filial Magic outside the barrier. It will be twice as potent (due to the lack of a power cap), though it will run the risk of attracting Shift Hunters. There will be a Bil post about this where he will allude to it.

And I am definitely up for plotting with both of my characters, but here's a rundown of what I could have them do.

Yuber - He'll of course be happy to slaughter anything that moves. If anyone wants to attack him while he's out there I'm up for that.

Piers - He can be useful in many ways. He's a good fighter, but he's also a good healer. He's got Cure Poison, so that should be helpful with poisonous critters. He's also got teleport psynergy so he could also get injured folks to safety. He'll likely be with Mia most of the time.

I am going to give him some sort of nasty handicap on the first day, so he'll likely be helping out in the medical area then. If anyone has good ideas to make him miserable, I'm open to suggestions, otherwise I'm thinking maybe of giving him the delusion status effect to be mean.

...Dhaos' first draft is in a forest. Terrific! The tree hugger in him will not be pleased, LOLOLOL.

Dude is unlikely to suffer very much injury at all thanks to lack of power cap, buuuuuut none of his CR is going except Mithos and Sheena, so he'll be going it alone. SADFACE. He'll mostly be burying everyone left and right with his hax magic, but the forest will probably irritate him and he's got a Shift Affliction for the first day . Still haven't decided what it is, looking like major headaches at the moment.

Other than that, he's free for plotting! I seriously have nothing at the moment.

Division of roles, anyone?

All right, guys. Quick and dirty division of roles, which Albert will be looking for volunteers for (as usual). Depending on interest in ICly planning this out, a lucetilocked post or open log can be posted.

Since there won't be anything known going out there, these roles are rough and broad and not fleshed out at the moment:

Offensive Forces -- those with fighting experience and willing to trek out into the wilderness; fighters, mages, and healers/doctors all welcome

Defensive Forces -- those with fighting experience and more comfortable/better equipped to protect noncombatants; they will be charged with setting up a base camp

Scouts -- special fighters/noncombatants capable of quickly moving or teleporting and mapping their surroundings; very important in unknown terrain, and Albert will try to get his hands on communication devices for scouts for faster information gathering

Noncombatants -- those who cannot contribute by fighting or scouting; they will carry supplies and help in the construction/fortification of a base camp

As far as dropoffs points go, they will be roughly divided as offensive forces, defensive/noncombatants, and scouts.

Remember that this is all voluntary and does not mean your characters can't interact with others outside of their "assigned group." But if you want your characters involved in something, this is always open. :|b I'll make an ooc post with lists later on.

Okay, seriously. Homura (the guy) is actually going to be fairly okay, since I think gods can't get poisoned, maybe? At least I don't remember it happening in canon. And even in the rain, he still kicks ass--that I do remember! :Db He'll largely be hanging with Nataku, and talking to Ayumu (the girl) at some point, but I'm open for anything!

And then there's Amelia. Oh, Amelia. Who doesn't know how to swim and comes from a planet where plants look like light bulbs! She's...probably going to be in trouble. Help?

OKAY SO. Winry will probably be hanging out at that clinic/hospital with McCoy for most of the draft, but I do want to look into other things for this chick.

1) I want something to draw/take her away from the clinic so that she may interact with more elements of the draft.

2) Also I think it would be neat to play around with having her get caught trap. Or confront some of the local wildlife.

3) Finally I think I'd like her to walk away with maybe a scar or two.

1) Your solution for that could tie in with what you want her to do in 2 - wildlife in the forest force her away from the camp, somehow? Something like a giant hungry snake, or leeches, or something maybe. They could chase her away from the camp and into the middle of the rest of the draft.

As with every draft she's been on so far, Raine will be making small travel first aid packs-- containing gels, potions and fast heal items, for ... well, just about everyone I guess, whether it's personally delivered by her or someone helping her or even just left outside their door.

- as for DURING DRAFT STUFF she's very likely to be with offensive groups, given she's a healer (and with the filial magic thing/other magic that she's been working on) she will have some other magic to work with too.

- Given there are hints of ruins and stuff she might get distracted at some point or other!

- Pretty much up for plotting/injury otherwise.

Brief addendum for the 6th

Okay. You know how Giles is going to be pretty standard, possible-a-little-less-than-up-to-par Giles for most of the battle?

...yeah, that's all going to hell late on the fifth and early on the sixth.

Helios is going to be killed during the battle, but before he dies he will allow Giles to drain him of his magic to use as his own. Season 6, what Rack did to Willow and what Dark Willow did to nearly everyone? Yeah, that ability.

It's easiest to describe this in game terms, and I'll describe it like this. After he does this, Giles will be knocked from having a Sorcery Rank of 0 (no natural power of his own) to having a Sorcery Rank of...oh, 8 or 9? About the level of Willow in late Season 5, early Season 6.

He'll also be in the mood to rip anything that isn't a villager to bits. In other words, total Ripper mode, with some actual power to back it up.

However, individuals who drain magic from outside sources usually wind up affected by that source, especially if that source is stronger than they are (which Helios is). So he'll also be coping with Helios' non violent tendencies.

So, he'll definitely try and defend any villagers he comes across (possibly whether they need it or not), either by sheilding them (rather effectively), ripping their attackers apart (rather messily), or both (effectively messy). But he will be a lot more active around the battlefield after that point, and a lot more noticeable. Screw attracting the Shift Hunters, he'll be especially happy to take them out.

For what most villagers know of him? He'll also be scary as hell.

Anyone feel like coming across him in this state?

Well firstly, once they find out it's a rainforest, Shikamaru will so lineface at the battle-wear. Like Naruto characters have the right to complain about that. He'd be willing to give Frey tips on getting around in the forest definitely, though.

SO YEAH. Ninjas are awesome, and this is totally Shikamaru's element here. Lots of trees and bushes places to hide in and set traps at, plus so many shadows to work with. He'll be great for uh... well. Pretty much everything on this one. Fast travel/scouting/trap making and detecting, etc. He has filial magic too, but he won't be using it unless necessary.

AS FAR AS PLOTTING THINGS GO, I'm up for anything? His shadow jutsus (and tree climbing/water walking ones too) could come in handy in several places. The one downside is that he'll definitely need to be working with someone who can watch his back. I imagine Chouji will have that covered most of the time like a boss, but obviously there's room for all kinds of scenarios. If anyone wants to do things. It would be cool, promise. THINK OF THE COMBO POSSIBILITIES.


EDIT: OH, also, also.

As mentioned, he and the other Konoha ninjas all come from a forest-like setting. This is totally their kind of turf. So he can probably be counted on to give survival tips, advice about going about the place.

Who wants to watch an antsy being of darkness go into overdrive on a battlefield with an absolutely huge amount of the weapon she uses best? Alternatively who wants an awesome escort because Saten can sense changes in the darkness around her (insert Force joke here) and in a terrain covered in darkness that means pretty much only things that are flying, shadowless, too fast for her to track, or completely stationary (like traps) can sneak up on her. And even the flying part only applies to things small enough.

Ayumu will resist as long as possible, but this is the kind of battlefield where flight, magic, and losing his weakness to sunlight will be pretty big assets. It might be interesting to have someone get into some initial trouble that would prompt him to give up and transform, and then after that he'd just decide to keep it up.

The caveats on this are... if he's spotted and knows he's spotted, since there's no power cap he'll attempt to erase the character's memory of the incident. So if you don't want that to happen, you'll need to convince him not to (or just escape or be immune to memory magic for whatever reason....) It shouldn't be hard if the character doesn't react too badly to his... hobby.

I know I've been non-existant this week. RL strangled me to death.

BUT...if anyone needs/wants/whatever...er,..right, plot? I'll make sure I'm around for it.

Derek: No longer has his infection, so the super senses are gone. And the Jeep may or may not be able to make it through some of the mire (they are built for that after all), but not all)

Fortunately though...he still has his Army ranger (survivalist training!) and vampire hunter (Avoid That Which Will Eat You Dead In Places Where You Can't Tell Where You're Going) training to fall back on, so he can do tracking things. Avoiding being tracked by monster things and avoiding things he can't see but will kill him if they find him (you know, like vampires do)...and other huntery type thing things.

Also, is it bad that the first thing that came to mind when I read the mention of 'canon' critters was Predator?

And now I'm going to bed before I start to sound even weirder than normal.

Actually, yeah, this environment will be pretty poorly suited for that. He might be able to manage with some kind of chopper though, because he might find some clearing he could use for that. Or any type of jet that doesn't require a runway, at least.
