Concerning the battle:

You know how these draft posts are always obnoxiously long, even without the lists? Well, all of the info you need it up at the Nitpicker's Guide.

DRAFT AND ENEMY DETAILS CAN BE FOUND HERE

  • First and foremost, MOST -IF NOT ALL- OF THE FIGHTING WILL BE ASSUMED; in other words, without mods playing the NPCs. If you absolutely must -MUST- play out something of great importance, please let me know and I'll provide an NPC, we can set up a log, something. But please, unless you need it for a specific purpose, don't ask for NPC battles. It will be largely uneventful and full of your character kicking ass and taking names and knocking down buildings and enemies, etc etc. This is to give you guys some freedom as well as keep us from a) getting overloaded and/or b) holding you back.

  • Hey now... that's not a map! Well this time, there isn't one. The battle will be taking place in a thick, steamy tropical rain forest that not even the Malnosso have ever mapped. It is massive and dangerous, being one of the natural habitat of weld Shift Hunters, familiar creatures from the previous AU Event. But even they are not the most dangerous creatures present. Wild animals include a variety of large jungle cats, massive snakes, poisonous bugs and frogs, crocodiles, piranhas, and all manner of horrible creatures. There might even be a few jungle-related monsters from other canons running around out there.

  • The forest is quite massive, but there will be three drop off points, each five miles from each other, in a triangular deployment. Among the many sights will include massive waterfalls, dangerous rocky rivers, swampy marshlands, and at the center of it all (around which the deployment zones are) is one massive tree, with a diameter of about a hundred feet across its base and standing over a thousand feet in height. The roots from the tree extent outwards for hundred of feet all around. Several other large sequoia sized trees are also present, many tangled together from the overgrowth of branches and vines.

  • Signs of civilization exist amongst the branches of these large trees, including the largest one. These include crude tree houses, connected by rope bridges. They seem to be abandoned, but only recently. Buried or covered under overgrowth are the ruins of a past civilization, though the stony surfaces are long since worn away. What little writing remains is reminiscent of that in the old desert temple. Unfortunately there is too little left to be of any use. Some of these ruins may prove to be adequate shelter, but little more than that.

  • Oh yeah and the Third Party is here. There is no specified number for how many there are. Despite being deployed for four days, the draftees will not be able to wipe them all out. In fact, on the last day, the draftees will be withdrawn from the battlefield once the enemy begins to overwhelm them in strength and numbers. Amongst those included will be a large host of normal soldiers, more Elites than previous battles, plenty of Shifters, and trained Shift Hunters.

  • The Third Party are well accustomed to combat in the rainforest and will make great use of it in their attacks. They may even use elements of geurilla warfare to attack, as well as crude traps (such as nets, pits, snares, and other such things) against the draftees. They will be as comfortable fighting on the ground as they are in the treetops and may attempt to lure draftees into dangerous areas, where wild animals or other natural dangers can endanger them. On the last day, the forest will be receiving a monsoon, which will result in a massive downpour and flooding and raining and... yes, quite miserable.

  • As for the IC announcement, the actual draft announcement will be handled differently. Expect that post to be on Monday-Wednesday.

  • ALL IS NOT LOST. Because of how dangerous this all is, Bil has arranged to provide our heroes with some help. Namely, he'll be enabling them to use Filial Magic outside the barrier. It will be twice as potent (due to the lack of a power cap), though it will run the risk of attracting Shift Hunters. There will be a Bil post about this where he will allude to it.

That's about it, then. Questions, comments, plotting? All of it goes here.

I think I should really learn not to go to the movies with my sister.

Sister-person: Who's that?
Me-person: Barbosa.
SP: That tentical guy?
MP: No, that was Davy Jones.
SP: So that's Davy Jones?
MP: NO! That's Barbosa!
SP: Yeah, the guy with the tenticals?
MP: No! Davy Jones is the guy with the tenticals. He died last movie.
SP: Oh. So that guy isn't the guy with the tenticals?
MP: No. That's Bar-bo-sa.
SP: Oh.... who's Barbosa?
MP: He was the villain in the first movie!
SP: Oh, I thought you said he wasn't the tentical guy.
MP: He wasn't! The tentical guy was in the second and third movie! He was the zombie badguy from the first movie!
SP: Oh? He's a zombie? I thought he died.
MP: Well, not anymore. He was brought back from the dead by Tia- [...] The black witch in the movies.
SP: Why'd she do that!
MP: ...did you see the other two movies?
SP: Yeah. I just don't remember.
MP: *head smack* She's was the human embodiment of a fearsome god of the sea and wanted to be free of her human form. But she needed the seven pirate lords to do it. He's one of them. So she brought him back to life so that she could get him to free her.
SP: Oh.
...
...
...
...

I'm just going to pretend like I know what's going on and watch Jack do stuff.
MP: Sounds PERFECT!

And then we watched Thor... and she thought the first 8-10 minutes was a pre-view. I knew I was going to have a lot of explaining to do when about thirty minutes in she was shouting: HEY! We already saw this preview!

MP: What preview?
SP: The part where they were chasing that storm and hit a guy!
MP: ...that was the beginning of the movie.
SP: No! It was a preview! ...wasn't it?
MP: HOW much vodka have you had!?
SP: Not that much! Yet. I may need more for this movie.
MP: *smacks head*
SP: Just tell me what side I'm suppose to be rooting for.
MP: The one who just got a shot in the ass.
SP: Oh.
*An hour an a half later - characters are sillulated by sunlight looks all "aaaaaaahhh!" like*

SP: Is that Thor!? How'd he get down there!?
MP: ...that's a girl. A very tiny, thin girl.
SP: Oh, it is? I have no idea what's going on.
MP: I can see that.

Actually, after that she was pretty good. Usually she asks what's going or how she doesn't get it. Besides asking me about five times in under a second what the Pearl was doing in a bottle and that she apparently didn't understand ANYTHING Barbosa was doing she actually kept her word and just enjoyed Jack being silly.

AS FOR MY THOUGHTS ON THE MOVIE!

It was nice to see more hi-jinxs from Jack. I felt the first big escape was a bit TOO obvious that he set that up. I've always enjoyed the guess of: Did he plan that? Or is he just getting really freaken lucky? It was so entertaining I can forgive it, but for how grand it ended up being it will probably be one of my least favorite Jack escapes from trouble scenes.

At first I was pretty damn entertained by the mermaids, but that Priest guy (did we even get his name? I don't know anymore, my sister was so confused by him and Barbosa and she kept calling him the Priest guy and asking me about him that's all I remember now.) was SO one dimentional that I just couldn't get into it past the major fight scene.

Also I was disapointed that Blackbeard didn't really do more. He's mother fucking Blackbeard! EVERYONE knows Blackbeard is the motherfucker of all pirates and I just felt they focused more on him going: GRR! I'M eeeeeeeeviiillll! That his potential was a bit wasted. A threat, but I think they could have made him into any other pirate and it would have been just about the same thing. I just wished they had saved the idea that this was suppose to be Blackbeard for another movie.

And I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason Barbosa disapointed me just a little in the movie. Like his crazy was just a bit too crazyor maybe it was I was all: OOOH! He's missing his fucking leg and still attempting to kick ass! HELLZ YEAH! But for some reason when he just sat there and watched Jack escape disapointed me. Yeah, he's missing a leg, but still! :( BUT! I'm calking this up to the fact that Barbosa has been my favorite character in this and I just wanted to see a bit more from him. My fangirl is probably blinding me just a bit on that.

ALL THAT SAID I STILL REALLY ENJOYED IT AND HAD FUN WATCHING IT! I just got the negatives out of the way first while my brain can still slightly articulate any sort of thought. My squeeling takes less work. *breaks this up into two comments*

All the banter between Barbosa and Jack - AWESOME SAUCE in a can. No, a case a cans. A truck full of cases. I just got chills when Barbosa told Jack that the Pearl had been loss and you can just SEE the utter dispear and loss come across Jack's face before he goes lunging over the table.

And because I said I'm a Barbosa fan let me go on a little bit about him and some of his scenes, I loved how bastardly he could be in this. Mentioning that men on the ship were already lost. All he heard were nesting seagulls. Aw, how sweet~ And I don't know why and I can remember what exactly what he was eating. (Probably sliced apples. I so hope they were green sliced apples. I remember it being green) but when he was on the ship eating, all dainty like, I couldn't stop cracking up.

And oooooooooh. When he made off with Blackbeard's ship. Win. He's all: Let's go you losers. I have a sword, you and everything that was his now is mine! HA! HA! And to see him in his outfit again? Yays!

And.. ugh, suddnely drawing a blank. The new girl. She was awesome. Usually I really hate it when they bring in a "long lost love interest" and while she did fall for some troops that I hate from that used plot twist, she was entertaining as hell to watch. More so when she was backstabbing Jack and yet falling for him again at the same time. Their last scene together? Pure win. I look forward to more if they do continue what the ending and teaser are hinting at.

Pfft, Gibbs. Poor Gibbs. I loved everything with him. *huggles*

And speaking of Gibbs! That opening! I cackled up laughing. I knew it was coming, but even still I kept laughing and laughing.

Said it once, but I LOVED the mermaids. FUCK YEAH! That whole scene is one I'd like to watch again and again. Espically for the "I'm in love!" comment at the end! XD

All and all I still feel like it could have been better. It still can't compare at all to the first movie, but it was highly entertaining. One I wouldn't mind going to see again. ...you know, if that lack of money thing wasn't an issue.

AND HOW COULD I FORGET TO MENTION!

The fucking Spainards! I don't really know who the fuck that guy was suppose to be, but want more of him. Now. I rolled my eyes when that guy stood up with the flag claiming the land for England, knowing he'd get shot, but MAN! The way he said "Someone write about that man's bravery" after? Made me glad it happened. Loved that cliche scene all of a sudden.

Was also surprised that he was there to destroy it. I can't remember now if they said it in the beginning of the movie, because at that point my sister was still gabbing into my ear going: Who's that? Why do they have that crazy man wrapped up like he's crazy? They shouldn't carry old people like that! Why isn't he dead?

No really. He had so little screen time, but was so AMAZING! Love it. Want more of him. I hope he comes back for squeals, but you know what? I think I'd also be happy if he's not, because he was just that awesome that I'm willing to take what I can get instead of fearing they'll try to ruin that somehow.

Your comments on this are just pure win. HA. I think I pretty much agree with everything you've said, really. Barbossa is MY FAVORITE TOO. And he just rocked. I loved seeing Jack and Gibbs at the end with their sack of ships walking down the beach.

I am sort of excited for canon-update. XD

OH! I FORGOT TO MENTION!

When there was mention of her being pregant (why don't IMDB her name? It's seriously driving me nuts because I KNOW IT!) and Jack was all: Actually, I've never been THAT drunk before I busted out laughing and said: Not even for pies? Outloud aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand my sister was all: Pies? What pies? I don't remember any pies?!

Also speaking of my sister. At least the second movie when she kept asking: Wait! How'd he do that? Why'd he do that my answer everytime was: God! They're gods! They can do whatever the heck they want!

GODS!
all7seas: (much more better)

THANK YOU! Omg... that was driving me so nuts.

XD And granted, we were chugging vodka at the time. Being we were at the drive ins and could sneak it in. We were going to make it into a drinking game, but figured drinking everytime someone said: Bugger would be a bad idea.

I needed to be sober after all by the end of the second movie to drive us home!

So yes, she was probably more funny because we were both slightly drunk, because usually she's annoying as hell and doesn't know when to stop asking questions, but she's getting better!
all7seas: (where's the rum gone?)

HA! I haven't gotten drunk at a drive-in in YEARS. Like.
