Meanwhile in Luceti

Now we get down to the details of what will go down in the village. This is not entirely finalized stuff, because it is somewhat reactive to what's being plotted by characters. But we'll go through a run down of how things will probably go. This only concerns things in the village during the draft. So if you don't have any characters in the village for this, feel free to disregard.

So far the plan we've seen, thanks to the town meeting is to use decoys of Bil. John will be providing a Shift that will temporarily nullify barcode signals, while also making the decoys produce a Shift that will attract Shift Hunters. It will be up to the individual abilities of the people in Luceti to make these decoys look like Bil himself. Once that part of the plan is in motion...

June 19th - The draftees will all be gone by 9AM. Around then is when the rain will pick up. Steady rain in the evening. Nothing too exciting here.

June 20th - Thunderstorms rattle Luceti. The clouds are very clearly blocking in Luceti, so don't expect to see an inch of sunlight until this is all over.

June 21st - Torrential rain, heavy wind (between 34 knots (39 mph) and 64 knots (74 mph)), thunderstorms throughout the day. At 10PM, droids and Shift Hunters will begin to emerge from the mountains and forests. They will operate in parties of three - two droids and one Shift Hunter.

These droids just want Bil. Please cooperate!

The majority of these droids will be the original model, responsible for kidnapping. They are tough and quick machines, capable of calculating and reacting to the actions of their opponents. They possess no special abilities, save for greater than human strength and speed, as well as chemical agents to disable their victims. Although difficult to beat because of their superior combat skills, extremely powerful blows can damage them. A sufficiently powerful electrical charge can short circuit them as well.

The Shift Hunters are tamed beasts, similar to those that were seen in the Luceti Valley event. They will not attack unless attacked first (or their accompanying droids are attacked). These vicious creatures attack swiftly and possess a rapid regeneration ability. The only way to permanently kill them is to behead them.

A small minority of the upgraded droids (who were responsible for first attacking Bil) will be present as well. These incredibly powerful droids are capable of mimicing the powers of any person previously kidnapped by the Malnosso. They can combine multiple powers and their parts can quickly repair themselves. There is presently no way to permanently defeat them.

These teams of three will be unhampered by the incredibly fierce weather conditions. The Shift Hunters will be hunting by using their natural ability to detect Shifts. The droids themselves can withstand the weather conditions and have no negative impacts to their mobility or sensors. Not only will they be attracted to Bil and his decoys, but filial magic and people suffering from lingering kidnapping effects will stick out to them as well. They are here to conduct a raid, but they are not here to kill. Anyone who hampers their progress will be attacked and although it is a possibility for characters to be fatally injured, the droids and beasts are instructed to disable resistance and avoid unnecessary death.

As for the decoys, all of them will inevitably be collected. They will be disabled and taken into custody, as they would during any normal kidnapping. This will remove them from the enclosure until the 23rd.

June 22nd - The droids will continue their search until 2AM. If Bil has been properly hidden, then he will remain in Luceti unharmed. However the weather conditions will continue until 11PM. This weather is EXTREMELY powerful and there is a high risk of buildings being damaged or outright destroyed. This is at the discretion of the players who have characters who live in the houses or run the shops. This will be important later in regards to repairs.

June 23rd - In the village, the storm has diminished to light rain. The village will be damaged and some people may be in need of aid. However, the decoys will have something else to deal with...

In a Malnosso Facility (very similar to the Infiltration Plot two years ago), the decoys will wake up. Thanks to John, they were less affected by the compound the droids used to disable them. Not only that, but they'll be in full possession of their powers. What does this mean? They'll be able to escape their cells.

What then? Well, that's up to the individual characters. They can attempt to free kidnapped characters from other enclosures, attempt to destroy as much as they can, attack the scientists and guards, seize valuable information, or flee to the outside world. However, while they will have opportunities to try all of the above with limited success, ULTIMATELY they will be detained by the new droids through whatever measures are necessary. Once contained, they will be returned to Luceti (most likely heavily injured) the following morning on the 24th.

However, we ask that there be no more than ten decoys in all. If there is over ten decoys volunteered, then we'll randomly select ten. Those that are not chosen will simply be missed by the droids (or their disguise will be seen through) during their search of Luceti and not captured. Whatever the decoys attempt to do in the Malnosso facility, we'll help you figure out what they can do or discover, but most of it will be handwaved or be threaded among yourselves.

One probable outcome due to the struggle that will ensue in the facility is damaging the machinery responsible for automating the automatic repairs in Luceti. Consequently, for the week following the hurricane, the buildings may not self-repair. Therefor it will be up to people in Luceti to make these repairs themselves or to simply wait for the self-repair Shifts to activate.

Remember, the characters have no idea they will get a chance to run free in a Malnosso facility. So plan accordingly and smartly!

Please put questions in the MOD QUESTIONS thread. If you want your character to be used as a decoy, note that in the DECOY SIGNUP thread. The rest of this post can be used for discussion!

I see it says free people from other enclosures, I just want to be sure I'm reading this right. Do you mean people from places other than Luceti? Or do you just mean Lucetians being held in other cells?

Because I'd be happy to offer Vash up as being "rescued", but it seems like the decoys could get some interesting info from NPCs from other enclosures if how I'm reading it is correct.

This is sort of a technical question, as I'm trying to figure out when the decoys would be decoy-ing but:

John won't mask the bar code signals until after the draftees are gone, right? Because once news of the draft hit, it would be suspicious if half the village went out like that (plus some of the original decoys themselves could've been drafted).

Tl;dr - the plan is probably not a go until the draftees are gone, yes?

Hey, what kind of info can we learn on this infiltration? Same info as last time, or updated intel?

The Plan(?)

[personal profile] tellmejohn 2012-06-16 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay so Rai, Stark, Pi, Athena, Belle, Grue, KJ, and a several others (who I am in no way trying to belittle by not listing their names) who play characters who have been heavily involved in this plot came up with a working Plan which was brought to the mods in addition to how the town meeting went. This plan's by no means the be all and end all of things, particularly if we get more people who volunteer to be decoys, but it's the general framework we've been considering so far, so people's input on the details of it would be great.

1) Bil was originally in the Dome
  • Scorpius was going to tell the Malnosso that Bil is there and warned Law of this so that he could put several fighters there to try to bog down the searching forces in an unnecessarily attritional battle to get one of the decoys

  • 2) Law and co visibly "relocate" him someone in the village (a lie)
  • This already happened when they initially moved Bil out of the Dome - there was a staged move to somewhere else in the village visible enough to hopefully attract the Malnosso's attention. This would be another good spot for a decoy to be planted, though we did not determine where it was.

  • 3) Law and co actually relocate him somewhere else for a moment (Community Building 5)
  • Again, this happened when they initially moved Bil. A temporary location more to protect him from any villagers who might cause problems than the Malnosso. That said, this would be another good location for a decoy to be planted

  • 4) Bil is relocated somewhere else (Nami's cottage out in the Mikan Orchard) with Scorp's stolen generator to give it power. Law goes with, and Itachi impersonates Law at the Dome clinic.
  • I think this step speaks for itself, so I'm not going to bother with more details on it other than the fact they also will know about the storm ahead of time (due to a fortune teller (Rei) tipping Law off) means that Nami's call to protect the trees can be a designated codeword to protect Bil if searching parties get too close

  • 5) Decoys: One of them in the Med Center, possibly one in C5 (to be defended), possibly one at the location he was "moved" to
  • As step 4, not too much to explain here, BUT while these were the only decoys we planned for (though we didn't really get more than one or two volunteers when we were considering the options for the plan), there can obviously be more in other locations as we get volunteers

  • So that's the working plan us plotting fellows came up with. We're obviously option to any complaints, concerns, modifications, suggestions, etc because it does concern the whole community.

To go along with that plan, there was also talk about some telepaths being stationed with the decoys, and Luke Skywalker being with the original Bil and keeping everyone informed, etc. Though how many were needed would also depend on how many decoys end up being used.

Kazooie here has some definite firepower (excusing the pun) in her Fire Eggs and Grenade Eggs. Best of all, her Fire Eggs burn even underwater! And I mean literally underwater, they burn in the ocean.

... Because of these things, I think she would be very uniquely suited to clearing out debris in the flooded areas of Luceti. If buildings are about to fall, she could save someone's life by temporarily freezing something in place with her Ice Eggs, and she can send her Clockwork Kazooie bombs into small spaces to retrieve necessarily items before exploding them somewhere harmless.

So! I ask you, good people of Luceti - are there any areas that people would like a debris-clearing breegull operating? Is there some kind of united force for cleaning the village up during the flood?

Additionally, anybody who wants to be rescued/defended by/do whatever with Kazooie is totally welcome to ping me here!

    Doctors and Locations

    [personal profile] tellmejohn 2012-06-16 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
In addition to the telepathic network Pi's discussing in the comment above this it alss might be fun from a logistical perspective to figure out where all the decoys are! In order to be at last marginally convincing, because Bil is ill, each Decoy ought to have at least one Doctor/Healer/whatever with the at the location they're at.

Offhand the ones we think we know so far are: Shikamaru at the Battle Dome's Clinic (location doesn't require a doctor) and Lupin at Community Building 5. If any of you volunteers have any locations you'd like your decoying to take place or if any healers in town want to volunteer for stationing there sign on!

...I imagine all of this will be coordinated after the draft starts or something in a LucetiLocked post? Or something? Idek. Details are fuzzy on the IC side let's just figure out for plotting stuff.

As an addition to this, if all else gets truly desperate and Nami's orchard gets overrun, she can probably extricate Bil to another location via Biri and notify medical types as soon as she can. She can think of at least one place that would probably be hard to find. It'd be a little dangerous to Bil's health probably to take a flying duck ride in such weather, but if she offers this option he'd be at a higher risk of being captured anyway and they can bundle him up as stably as possible and hope for the best. 8|a

She'll bring that up with Law at the very least while at the cottage.

Raine is available as a decoy doc/healer, if she's needed for one of the locations. She'd be more up to speed on the current plans than I am currently as well.

I'm sorry for jumping into this last minute, but I wanted to toss in my own two cents 8|a

This guy right here is one of Nami's crewmates as well as a doctor. He'd prefer to go along with Nami to the orchard, just to keep an eye on her and assist with taking care of Bil if needed. Since Law's there, having an extra doctor around might be a bit redundant, but it probably couldn't hurt, either! Also of note is that since he's Nami's crewmate, accompanying her to the orchard in such dangerous weather isn't suspicious in the least (and might be even less suspicious than if she went alone [assuming we're hiding the fact that Law went]).

If he's denied for that, though, he would certainly volunteer instead to be one of the doctors accompanying the decoys. Although he'd prefer to stay with Nami and the real Bil, he'd be ready to go wherever he's needed.

This isn't going to affect upper levels, will it? Because we have part of the decoy plot going on on floor 5.

Oh, you CH 5 too? Hi, your character probably hates mine for being so loud.

If there's fighting, it really really wouldn't hurt. Both for medics on scene (in the worst case scenario Bil would be secured so much faster for quick escape and Chopper's light enough in Brain point to come along with him) and a assist for Law, because the guy will need to rest at some point.

And it would also reassure the other SHs too, and yes, be more plausible.

And Chopper and Law working in tagteam is canon and this should happen for that reason too
