We like to party!

Hey Lucetians! It's that special time if month where we say GO FILL OUT THE ACTIVITY CHECK!

Okay, good, that's out of the way. Now then, we've got two weeks left of August. How shall we spend them?

On August 18th, a new island will be located just right off the coast, near the desert fort. A short five minute walk across the bridge will bring you to this island. But what's on this island?

Well, it's Luceti Land! Quite like the one in the past, this Luceti Land features roller coasters! Rides! Carnival games! Sticky candy for your mouth! But that's just the old stuff. The main attractions include the new water park! With all sorts of water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and all sorts of fun things like that. (In other words, if there's an attraction usually in an amusement park, it's going to be in Luceti Land.)

All the rides are free, you can earn fabulous prized from the carnival games (if you like large stuffed animals and useless trinkets anyway), and there's even a nice spacious hotel on the far side of the island, if you just can't bear to wait. (For the curious, these hotels are set up exactly like the dorms used on drafts, but without the hangar. There is room service, but only for food.) All of the rides, games, and the hotel will be staffed my droids, dressed appropriately to each role. They won't speak to the residents, but they also won't try and kidnap them, so that's a plus. Also, fireworks every weekend night at 10 PM!

Oh, as for when the amusement park goes away? It will remain there until the month ends. At midnight of the 31st, the island will prepare to 'vanish'. Anyone still on the island will be escorted off by the droids (though not forcefully, so if your character drowns from resisting, that's their own fault.)

As way of explanation for all this, Bil will have written a message on the first page of the journals. It cannot be replied to, it simply states: "My condolences for all the trouble. You were due for an experiment today, but I thought you might enjoy an amusement park instead. It seemed like the sort of thing the Great One would do."

--

Some other things to look out for as well. Another draft will start on the 25th. Yes, Luceti Land will still be around for the duration of it. The draft will be similar to the last one, though a little less dangerous this time around. This time around, we'll be having our fight on the ocean, around an island archipelago. More details will come as we draw closer to the draft date, as well as a list of draftees once the AC is done. If you haven't already, be sure to sign up!

Finally! One last thing that we'll start implementing sometime next month (but intend to ICly announce this month) is a new alternative to kidnappings. As Bil alluded to previously, the Malnosso will start selecting small groups of residents to go out on special missions on behalf of the Malnosso. This includes mundane things like volunteering for experimentation (but without all the drugs and droid abuse), performing patrol duties, going on stealth operations, repairing broken equipment, providing medical attention to injured people, and various other tasks. We'll be counting on all of you to come up with some suggestions for us to use too, so we'll have a Missions Suggestions post set up too.

How will this work? We will have a post for different missions available for people to take. It will include the necessary details for the mission and what your character needs to qualify, as well as what they stand to gain as reward from it. Most missions will be solo ones and will basically work as an alternative for kidnapping, allowing your character to be removed from action in the game without the drama normally associated with having your character trapped in a cell as an experiment. That's not to say kidnappings will cease, but this is part of Bil's plan to one day phase them out.

The rewards characters will stand to gain include the sort of items that characters could previously request from Bil, as well as some new useful trinkets that will help ward off experiment effects and be able to hide from droids. They won't be fool proof methods, but characters will be able to give them to their friends. So going on a few missions to prevent your best friend from being drafted is surely worth it, right? At least... if the trinket works, anyway.

Anyway, that's just the teaser for what's to come. We'll announce it in more detail later.

That's all! Remember, reserves open on the 18th. Please use the mod questions thread below for anything you'd like to ask about. The rest of the post may be used for general discussion. Cheers!

*g* One of Giles' kidlet CR might have to help drag him along to this. Lina will be first in line. No, seriously, she will be first if she has to Dragon Slave the lot of you. She's never had a plushie before and she's about to start now.

And wow to the second bit 8D! I am liking the new missions. God knows, I've wanted a way to keep Giles out of action without increasing his reputation as a chew toy for a while now. He'd probably actually jump at the chance for the non-experiment missions. I do hope that the kidnappings never get phased out, though, they're way too good in the plot kickstarting department for that.

Fft, kidlet? Hell, Ginia will drag him there.
consultmybooks: (Missed you too)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-16 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I am depending on you to do so, then. Expect him to kick up a fuss about it, though.
shadedsunlight: (The velvet sun shines on me and you)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And she'll ignore said fussing, insist he'll have fun, and drag him around the park like a hyperactive child.

Is this going to set a precedent for their future relationship?

And Buffy and Dawn will either take pity on him or double/triple team him right along with Ginia.

Yes. Yes it is. Jenny once took him to see monster trucks.
shadedsunlight: (I look at you and smile because I'm fine)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
When do you want him dragged off to the amusement park? I have her coming back the morning of the 19th.

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-08-16 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Give her a day to recover and we'll say the 20th?
shadedsunlight: (Default)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds good to me. I'm going to have her out brooding by the bridge in the morning *already has the post written out*. Would Giles like to talk to her then?
consultmybooks: (Hold On)

I was planning on hitting that post when it went up in any case.

Join Ginia in dragging Giles to the park y/y?
lostinmyway: (So much fun!)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-16 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hell yeah, Y! He's so doomed. >D
shadedsunlight: (Looking back at sunsets on the eastside)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh definitely. >3 And if you guys were up to it, I would not be opposed at all to Ginia, Giles, and Grune (...3G!) spending a day or some time together at Luceti Land. I think the only thing that might be for just Giles and Ginia would be their laser tag game, but everything else would work with the three of them hanging out.

...Also think of all the possibilities in the Hall of Personas.
lostinmyway: (Hmm I wonder....)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-16 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be totally awesome. 8D And Grune would be out in about two seconds in laser tag, anyway. "Hello, Ginia! Isn't this so much--oh, am I out? Oh well."

Oh my lord, I can't even imagine what that would turn up for Grune. Seriously, the mind boggles (and so would Ginia and Giles).
shadedsunlight: (I look at you and smile because I'm fine)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
All is fair in love, war, and laser tag. :|

While Alice seems like the obvious choice, if Ginia's in there, she'll see herself at 22 (before everything went to hell) and/or as a teenager.

This also marks Ginia and Grune's second meeting and once more, Giles is involved. XD
lostinmyway: (This is nice.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2011-08-16 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Good thing Grune wouldn't remotely mind!

Heheh, good luck making Grune understand that the person she's seeing is Past!Ginia, then.

XD This would make for an interesting pattern to keep up.
shadedsunlight: (Everything about you resonates happiness)

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2011-08-16 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Ginia won't make any comments. XD I was going to say the difference would be in how much younger she looks, but Ginia's PB really doesn't age at all. Teenage or kid Ginia might be more obvious. And adorable.

All things happen in threes. XD Maybe they'll all end up in the draft together (if Grune's signed up)?

Giles will put his foot down at roller coasters. Otherwise...Link might have more luck dragging him around to other rides. I'm just sayin'.

Hee. Fair enough - I still haven't worked out how Link is going to react to them. (He's either going to want to go on ALL OF THEM EVER, or... going to want to go on ALL OF THEM EVER, try one, and decide he's never doing that again :p As for myself, I totally want to go on Shadow Dragon. Suspended coaster with plenty of inversions YES PLEASE.)

That is a pretty neat first one! My first one was a wooden kiddie one - when I was a kid - at Australia's Wonderland. The Beastie. Whoo :| I liked its big brother (the Bush Beast) much better. (And the Demon - steel Vekoma boomerang, once I got tall enough - was the best of all!)

/was apparently a roller coaster junkie from age seven?

Lucky duck. I missed out on the glory until I was frickin' eighteen. And I've still never been on a wooden coaster - just steel for me.

[personal profile] blessedbyfarore 2011-08-17 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Wooden ones can be interesting! Tend to be lacking in inversions, but they can make up for it with some pretty big, dramatic drops.

XD They also rattle a bit, which adds an interesting dimension to things...
