How's My Driving?

This is a crit post for both the community and game and for your characters. If you have something you'd like to see us improve upon with the game, PLEASE TELL US HERE! Anon commenting is on, but if anything gets really nasty there will be warnings and thread-freezing. This isn't required but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the advice of your fellow players!

Just some pointers: no taking cheap shots, no dragging personal issues into things and for the love of all that is wise and great, please double check your replies and comments before posting them. Sometimes a change in phrasing can make all the difference between a helpful tone and a condescending one.

ALSO ALSO: We'd like to clarify that HMD means HMD- which means it's okay to have both good and bad crit. Some people have expressed concerns about posting good/bad crit when a character already has bad/good crit posted. We'd like to encourage you guys to do it anyway! You can drive well or badly, and even good drivers make mistakes. So give it a try \o

I have to say KJ, a lot of the threads I've been having the most fun with lately have been with your own two. Your Nami is quite awesome, confident and playful. She feels like she came straight from canon but also has your own distinct stamp. It's great and fun to see her and Aang bonding, and I also have fun looking at her other threads. I also want to commend you in the Sleeping Nami plot - even though she was asleep for the whole ordeal, I think you did a good job of organizing it and then it led to wonderful hilarity when she woke up.

Also, Katie. Katie is both fascinating and adorable, and I regret not starting to tag her sooner. I really love playing Aang off of children, and Katie has that interesting extra dimension to her where there's much more than it seems. I really love our thread, even though it's primarily touching upon just one facet of Katie. I should really be less lazy and look into more about her. But as it as so far, your characters are really really fun to thread with.

Either here or in my HMD post, It's cool. If you know how Spartans behave in general in the books, and/or have seen the episode Homecoming, I'd appreciate any sort of crit.

Subjects in which I'd like to see how am I doing are concerning Halo Legends' Homecoming, Halo canon (books, particularly), military knowledge (behavior, structure, methodology, and theory), entertainment value, character consistency and development, grammar and spelling, use of the language, pacing and posting, activity, mun manners, and anything and everything.

Own observations

-Slow to tag. Barely passed AC because of it. Some of the ones right now have a week old. It's understandable when the only time to tag is at night, but when one arrives home without the mind to write, it would be better if I focused on a handful of ones that I could boomerang-tag, perhaps. Weekends are the better days to try this.

-Too spread out. Likewise, counting this game and some others. Will be necessary to drop Lynne from SRWUGA, given I haven't done anything with her, anyway. Focusing only on a handful of threads, only critical ones for the plot of Luceti and the ones of Daisy's development, may perhaps be the best course of action. That... and dropping some of the threads I have right now.

-Military material. I hate to admit this, but I didn't read the civil disturbance handbook as closely as I did with the others. There's still the platoon handbook, and a few others Daisy might need.

-Canon review. Homecoming is easy to canon review for, but it also involves content from the books. Even with her desire for a civilian life, she sometimes acts too much like a civilian when meeting people. While John used to be inept when he first met Cortana, he still remained solid against her teasing. Currently on the Fall of Reach, but indirectly involves Ghosts of Onyx and First Strike, as well.

Halo 4, of course, would be some interesting canon review. Kind of shame won't come out until November 6. Likewise, if the ViDocs are speaking the truth, it could show a little more on what a Spartan is like out of his element.

-Need to expand CR. While she's a little more established within her circles, tagging out two or so new characters wouldn't hurt. I think I've stuck with only the people Daisy knows so far.

I don't know if this is intentional on your part or if I'm just reading into it, but on the offchance it is intentional I really wanted to applaud you for it. With playing Howard (particularly in his threads with Tony, particularly the one where you discuss Stark Industries) I feel you really captured the feel of the 1940s in relation to conflict and war and weapons and stuff. There's a certain "feel" that an era before the height of the Cold War/Vietnam has within it's not quite as inherently "bad" as it is today (okay, it's still bad, but I hope you know what I mean) and the passive acceptance which I've seen you weave into Howard's perspective I really like.

Actually, one thing I'd love some advice on that will be upcoming, if anyone has ideas on how I can get Leonhardt to not either become completely depressed and barely active or always stupidly reckless considering that Joshua got booted with the AC. Just throwing this out there. I really liked our thread with Kari. It was pretty interesting, and I do hope we're able to do more with those two. Rei needs more magical girls in her life.
